And so those ladies died...
...an unnatural death.
In a staggering display of non-linear design, there even was a side path so I could either skip the next section of the beach and make it straight to the Storm Crows' leader or...
...assault the remaining beach Crows from behind!
I quickly dealt with them and their harpy pets.
And up inside the forest I go.
Several black cats ambush me along the way. Surprisingly, they don't seem to be demonically possessed. Neko witches must be immune to possession, I guess.
Oooh, an exclamation mark hovering over a rock. I believe I know what awaits me there.
A boss fight!
That Lana Bloodtalon is wielding a rather powerful fire sword that sets me on fire and deals damage equal to almost all my HP, and her sword swings wide, so I have to be careful.
She had reach, true... but I had flexibility. (Also, two potions used.
)
And the key to Rauter's cage is now mine!
Let's set the creepy bastard free.
Do you have the damn key?
I've got the key.
(No homo?
All in all, I must say Rauter is a very
German character, and in a very retarded way.)
And I'm level 30 already! I feel the power!
Rauter starts unlocking the other cage, I bid him farewell and explore deeper into the forest.
Well well well, that must be Setarrif.
Lookin' good!
Lots of possessed knights and soldiers going all hostile on me. Cannon fodder!
Possessed mages too. There are "possessed citizens" too.
Everyone is possessed! This game sure is dark, gritty, mature, and stuffies.
Zombies!
I collect their BRRRRAAAAINS.
Even more zombies. Damn there's a lot of trash fights in here.
Usually it goes like this: first you fight a group 1-2 possessed knights (melee), 1-2 possessed soldiers or citizens (ranged -> hide behind an obstacle, and they'll keep shooting at it), and maybe 1-2 possessed mages (throwing bolts or fireballs -> easy to avoid). You kill them, and then a pack of zombies rise from below the ground. Filler!
Other than that, the town design is unsurprisingly uninspired, too. Corridors, two metre wide larger areas, and some dead ends with some shitty treasure chests.
An exclamation mark beckons me, and I'm on my way.
Hi Diego.
Rhobar told me you are hanging around here. So I was going to check if everything is all right.
Hanging around? Us? (laughs) My foot!
Really? And how do you do that?
This one? Looks quite solid.
Yes, it is. Go to Milten and tell him I can't open the damn thing. I keep trying, but... I don't have much hope.
I'll go to Milten and ask him.
Good. You will find him back there, only a few steps along the trench.
And now it's questioning time!
Seriously now, what's going on here?
The demon you chased out of Rhobar's mind hung around Setarrif. Ethorn VI performed some unholy ritual... that kept the demon in this world and called it to him. In the beginning he could control it and make it fight against our army. But then the demon freed itself and turned against Ethorn and Setarrif.
Where is the demon now?
After all I've heard, it retreated into the heart of the White Eye Mountain and made the mountain burst. Well, it might be just all rumours and simply a volcano broke out.
...afflicting humans and animals.
I've noticed that. But what has this door got to do with the demon?
Some old divine artefacts are said to be in there. Weapons, amulets, and things like that... The artefacts are supposed to help ban the demon.
(Must be a Banhammer among those, then.)
How do you know?
Oh, that's what Milten says. He studied the inscriptions on an old stone block. If you want to know more, talk to him... and tell him I can't open the damn door!
Where are the others?
Lester and Gorn are out on an errand for Milten, and Zyra is with Lee.
What about Lord Hagen?
(sighs) He's quartered in the observatory east of here. He's busy with the fight for the town.
...and argues all day long with Lee, who wants to negotiate... and fight the demon and his breed together with the Setarrifians.
So the paladins don't do anything against the demon?
Innos gives them the power to continue, says Hagen. We will see if this is true.
Another exclamation mark -- must be Milten.
You here?
What do you mean?
You happen to need a chose one of the goddess... and he appears just like that.
Well, not quite. Diego sent me to see you. I'm supposed to tell you that he can't open the door to the temple.
So we still have to wait for the key stones.
(Key stones? I think I know where this is going...)
What key stones?
Four y-shaped ornamental stones that fit in the indentation in this stone block here. Once they are united, the door to the burial temple opens.
How do you know all this?
From the inscriptions on the stone blocks here. The earthquake preceding the volcanic eruptions made the place that used to be here collapse...
What else is written on there?
One thing at a time. First I need the key stones... then I'll tell you the rest.
All right, I'll take care of that. Where do I find the key stones?
(But of course.
)
The Stone of Progress is in the observatory, where Hagen's headquartered.
...the Stone of Nobility is in the palace, the Stone of Wisdom in the house of the Mages' Guild and...
...the Stone of Wealth lies somewhere underneath the ruins of the tollhouse at the northern town gate.
See if you can find them.
Okay. Where were they going to start?
Gorn was going to go to the northern town gate and Lester to the observatory, and from there on to the house of the Mages' Guild and the palace... But before you go: can you make use of this?
We're given a new alchemical recipe.
Updated my journal.
This game is trying so hard to appeal to a nostalgic Gothic fangirl in me. Changed the thread title to "I wanna be a Gothic".
