One day they'll update a good Final Fantasy game. FF6 with hi-res sprites and bugfixes? I'd pay 20$ for that.
Who am I kidding that would require effort from the developer.

They did.

FFVI advance had bug fixes and also disabled some of the really cheap combos like Gau with the offering, wind knife, and raging stray cat. You can still do the Cyan charge bug but I'm not really sure how. And you can still skip South Figaro during Locke's scenario and thus not recruit Celes, causing the game to bug out in a few really hilarious ways.

For what it's worth there are many (almost a hundred) fixes for the SNES version. It's a bit of a pain to gather and apply them, especially since they aren't in a centralised location like romhacking, but it's worth it if you want to play the SNES version instead of the GBA one.

http://www14.brinkster.com/assassin17/index.html and http://novaliaspirit.99k.org/ff6/patches.html are a good start but there are more sites to check. There are some project that incorporate all patches in one but sadly everytime the author wisely decides to add stuff of his own, like changes to the script. If you only want to fix bugs, you have to get dozens of files yourself and apply them. Very fun too because some patch creators insist that the ROM must have a header, so unless it is written in the documentation you have to test the ROM with and without one in order to check if the patch was applied correctly.

Uh... interesting. I'm going to guess that since they decided to let Asians buy the PC Port and decided to throw some easy to implement features while doing it.

Auto-battle for a game where you have to defend with all idle characters to get job points is a questionable addition.

If only Square patched the FF 4 remake to run at 30fps !

The Steam port of FF 4 (and After Years) remakes run at 15fps during battles, and it's agonizing to play it like that. Inside towns it runs at 20 or 25fps, and I think overworld is the only place where it's 30fps.

And that's ALL versions, the original NDS version also runs at 15fps during battle, but console plebs are such suckers they say "it's an RPG it doesn't need high fps...", fucking idiots. It's unbearable to play the FF 4 remake like this, which is why I've never played thru the FF 4 remake. I refuse to suffer thru that horribly low FPS.

EDIT: And it's all the weirder because the FF 3 remake runs at 30fps everywhere, and it was made by the same studio.

Steam FF4 battles look like stop motion.

And the thing is they were at some point planning on fixing the battle FPS because there is an old Beta Branch on Steam of FF4 that runs the battles at 30fps, according to PCGameWiki.

Oh well. Womp womp.
