Just to tell that in all this game i think FFXIV is the better one. For many reasons. Mainly combination of elements. I always enjoyed mmo but since WOW was hard to scratch that itch as every MMO tried to copy 1:1 wow

And yet many forget ffXIV has actually 1 only furry race. The MMO with the most furry races is actually one of those that the haters shill for.
Wow has Tauren, Worgen, Vulpera, Pandaren now thanks to dragonflight they have a scaly race and what it worse is those races look based on Furry fanfiction in deviant art.
FF14: Male Hrothgar.

Those are kemonomimi (animal-ears) which mostly normies are into. I assure you furries consider them revolting, though I'm sure exceptions exist.

Nothing more disgusting than bare smooth skin.

I'm fine into animal ears if, say, it's Halloween and a lady friend puts on one of those stupid ear headbands and we get up to some nasty business. But getting hot and bothered to a cartoon is just screwy, whatever it looks like.

I liked ARR. Still have not played Heavenshart.
Weird. Most people agree that HW is significantly better than ARR.

I prefer ARR to HW.

I was invested in the Ul'dah plot. I was hyped to rally a rebel army and retake Ul'dah and defeat Loloritto and avenge my comrades, but then HW anticlimactically ties botches it within the first few hours of HW by resurrecting everyone who died at the end of ARR and having Loloritto go "nah I was totally on your side all along!" and get off scott free. So you're just left with fighting rawr dragons or overthrowing evil church #527. *Snore*

I also wasn't into the aesthetics of HW, being set in drab environments of snowy tundras and grey stone castles of HW and featuring knights wearing boring grey unpainted armor. I'm not into FF14's elves either. Don't like elves? Too bad because HW is all about them.

I quite like ARR's launch story. Traditional evil empire plot but you get to visit 4 different countries (rather HW just being set in Ishgard) and the story is well executed. The Ultima Weapon does feel threatening and Operation Archon was pretty hype. The patch storyline about the intrigue within Ul'dah was also interesting, the only downside being the Primal fillers.

Val the Moofia Boss i agree that the Ul'dah plotline was interesting but as soon as anything starts to happen with it they just shelf it. I did think that the intrigue parts of HW were interesting in a similar way though.

The ARR raids are brutally boring though with how cutscene heavy they are, particularly Praetorium. Generally though I felt that about most of the group content in FFXIV... Everything had this sort of on rails feeling to it Imo.

Either way, I was sufficiently into everything up to Stormblood to keep going.

Oh good grief -.-!

Is there any blood and gore in the game? Beheadings? Ripping limbs off? Rip n tear and blast chunks everywhere with the gunner class I hear about?

Uh... there's a scene where a guy gets his arm chopped off. IIRC, they basically just show him missing an arm later. This has a few kinda dark things, mostly in subtext. Otherwise it's pretty G-rated, outside of the ERPers and other deviants.

Shadowbringer and endwalker have really dark and genuinely disturbing moments

The first dungeon is a rape dungeon.

edit: Take attention to the female prisoners (and their dialog) in the pirate hideout. You usually just run by them when in a party.
FF14 has dark themes, but many of them are hidden or only implied.

Ok, edgelord, go home now.
I am beyond mere edgelords... I walk the walk and slaughter those furry bitches (i can still taste their delicious screams of agony as i ripped out their eyes, cleaved their skulls in half with a spear through their mouth, split their spines, impaled them while they shook in the air with me laughing, drowned them and hurled them into fires. I crushed them to paste, broke their spines, beheaded them, disembowled them and more ..)

I am the Reaper and Slayer of all Rodentia. I crave their deaths and suffering. Total annihilation isn't enough as I want their rodent souls to suffer in hell for eternity.... then come back for more... so I can slaughter them again.... and again... and again....

I don't know if any of you played ACTUAL the best MMO, I'm talking about Aion, 4.6 patch is (p.server on this patch is veryyy alive) the best in both PvE and PvP (yes, it was mainly PvP oriented game, in many scales: sieges, party hunting, solo ganking, rifting, pvp oriented zones with high risk-high reward. Not sure if any of FFXIV players know how much fun PvP is).
Back to topic, FFXIV is fine as it's, hits a specific type of gamers, and WoW is not that dead, if you like speedrunning instances and/or raid loging. Also they have added solo queue for ranked arenas which is good.

I used to play Rising Force Online, and the community there moved on to Aion, but I never did. And yes, PvP can be a lot of fun, if the devs know what they're doing. And, obviously, the community isn't snowflakes & care-bears.

I played Aion a little bit. It was my 2nd in this type of mmo (first being PWI). I kind of liked it as I was having some irl issues and the game took my mind offodc it. I mostly enjoyed the resource collecting and crafting grind. I had an alt that only did that and never fought until he hit a level req wall. The game changed hands so msny times that old stuff was deleted. That destroyed my interest when alts lost everything. Free games can fuck you over. So, seeing ff14 being nigh solid pay with subs and p2w shit really makes me wonder if they destroy content as well. NO THANKS!

When a mmo goes free to play become inevitably pay to win. Of course there are exceptions WoW has the Wow token that makes the game pay to win and is a sub game.

With my new joystick adapter and joytokey I could play mmos with a super action controller.

Well now i finished Endwalker after quite a while and still, there is a ton of content that i have not done yet and keep discovering. At least unlike many MMO there are not time gates you are not forced to do stupid senseless grind and the content is content. There was not a time i had to farm REP in order to progress on the story nor i had Soul Conduit to farm. Nothing is very mandatory but is there for those who like additional content. The story is good but picks up in Heavensward as a Realm Reborn is more of a huge preparation for the coming tale.

Is quite refreshing to have a classic-style MMO that has not to have the things that crippled the classic-style MMO. And the community is hilarious and fun.

I am still playing and doing content.

However, the sense of achievement you get from getting stuff done is amazing. Heck not even wow managed to win me over and make me pay a subscription.

They did an absolute awesome job with this title.
