If CRPGs can't have a good villain without this kind of scene, we're in deep trouble. :)

Too true :(

Even if he resorted to torture and dismemberment, not rape it would be too much for my standard "grimdark, edgy, (im)mature" popamole rpg/strategy/adventure game.

Ah yeah, that was/is a really disgusting scene, but at least it gives the player one more reason why to kill the bastard.

This game trope is the prime example why video games fail hard at trying to be litterate. The idea of a villain is just for the sake of having a challenge, it is written in the gameplay's trope that you need to be fighting some kind of antagonistic force - the writers cannot figure out any other focus for the player than that. Well, Bioware were clever with that and instead of trying to make to give the villain a coherent human face, they just made it a generic destructive force of nature (Dragon Age : Faggots, Mass 2 Effect)... ok Bioware shit shit. Entirely new level of shit tho when you think about it, lazy writing at its max. In a book, this would be just terrible stuff. You can't have a serious book with a pre-defined hero and bad guy that's just nonsense - well I don't read fantasy litterature you understand, I'm a serious and elite man. I haven't read Tolkien since I was 13 and I think Tolkien intended his writing to be for children so this shit is ridiculous and I have no idea why grown men read this crap. Probably because they are not really grown men even if they think they are because they pay taxes or some shit. That shit is just bad, unless you're trying to write some kind of dogmatical theological myth or something, I don't know but those forced-down-your-throat christian ethics are just sad. I am very, very fucking angry about this anti-philosophical pleb shit.

Although what I really wanted to say is that I approve of all this blood porn

Maybe I have been misunderstood, but I never said he a good villain. Yes, Xavier is a somewhat simple character with an ever simpler goal (kill everyone and torture them to death if it's possible), but you know, he is a fucking DEMON, it makes sense that he's a motherfucker that commits atrocities non-stop. He'll not win any prize for the best written villain ever, but at least he's believable, he behaves as a "real" demon should, with no morals nor honour or qualms of any kind, he sacrifices his own troops with "zombie-aids", tortures and rapes her daughter, arranged an horrible torture for Kou and whatever the hell he'll do as the game advances.

Of course, the developers were too graphic with his "whims", but I prefer a villain that has a personality (even if it's cliché) and is somewhat competent than an alien, faceless army that threatens to destroy the entire galaxy/worldl for no real reason, or even worse, a supposed demon overlord that's nothing more than an annoying brat that constantly whines.

In any case, it doesn't really matter, you know that Rance will kill him sooner or later and save his daughter from this endless nightmare.

Yeah, its much better compared to shitty bosses that you never even see till the last 10 mins of the game (I'm looking at you Bioware).

I’m starting to have this sneaky suspicion that that archer guy who I must find may not show up. The Demon Army will soon restock it’s ranks with real demons. If that happens we can say “good-bye” to the last treasure and those 10 points.

alcg3180.jpg

Oh-ho. Looks like trouble approaching.

By standard fare I meant Rance’s standard.

On the plus side, it's not that common for mythical monsters in CRPGs to live up to their reputation when you get to fight them. Yet another thing this game does right !

If you use this tactic you should absolutely rape him/it, given how much you have been leveling up your characters. Good try though.

Will you be a badass and try to take down Gunagan eventually?

Also, will you be showing the scene where Leila gets captured by the Demon Army?

Is it a wonder that having read this entire LP thread I pretty much have no idea what's going on in that video or what tactic he is employing.

Most of the actual gameplay updates in here (stats, points, whatever) has been primarily for Rancinsiders I guess. Noobs like me are only it for the tasteful rape.

Basically the tactic in that video is very similar to the one WW used. Leave Rance and your higher level commanders for last and throw your lesser commanders up front to take out the sidekicks ASAP before they die themselves. Your switching of characters should be clever enough to gain turns from their speed.

As soon as you're starting to hammer Orochi bring forth some of your high level commanders to do as much damage as they can before you bring Rance himself along with a monk that can renew his moves. Again, switching characters back and forth can gain you turns if they're fast enough.

After you do all this you may win IF:

- You've leveled your commanders a fucking LOT and especially Rance.
- You don't run out of moves at a critical point.
- You're lucky enough for Orochi to NOT DO his fucking KILL-ALL move at a bad time and also to avoid him doing a lot of 2-player attacks.

Of course in a first time game you're going to be untastefully raped by Orochi :smug:

Holy shit, so the insta-kill is just, all dead no matter what? If so, cripes, it sounds like you do just need to get dealt a lucky hand.

You must power on though, Rance can't be bested by some wannabe Hydra snake! :salute:

His method is this: If a unit attacks, it has a large cooldown before it attacks again. If you switch out one unit for another unit, that unit can attack again very quickly in its place. Switching units out is also very fast if you use a high speed ninja to do the switching. Effectively (and this is best shown in the last 25% of the fight) you can get some 10 or more attacks in vs Orochi instead of 6 before he attacks. If you notice, half of his units aren't even killed. Their AP is just used up because he gets so many attacks off before Orochi hits and so they get switched out.

Actually, the video is of him playing with units that had no levelups other then Rance who is at 59, VS Whiskey's 69.

Also, ALL of Orochi's attacks will hit both rows of units.

Well, it IS a giant multiheaded snake demon monster that can cause earthquakes just by moving around. And the game IS made in Japan. It would be foolish not to expect horrible, horrible rape when you go in there

Yea, don't you dare quit WW. Our hero would never let such a foul girl-eating beast live. Be an ally of justice (and cute girls).

EDIT: We also have that asshole to take care of.
