Presumably when there is some concrete issue to complain about. Curretnly what we have is, "O NOES IT IS TEH ARMAGEDN."

Not saying that Bethgesda is or is not capable of doing justice to FO3, nor am I saying that past indicators aren't cause for concern relative to FO3. All I'm saying is that the vitriol is a bit high w/o any facts in evidence yet.

The situation isn't exactly helped by the vacuous legions of first-time forum-rats storming our ship from stupider ports of call.

I can't speak for myself here since I've never been a rabid anti-Biowarian, but I'll say that most people here who seem that way probably regard Bioware as angels in comparison to Bethesda's would-be handling of the Fallout universe.

Actually, wouldn't the underlying NWN engine be pretty much exactly what a new Fallout game (with strong ties to the old one), would be envisioned as? I really don't quite get the absolute venom I see over Bioware around here...

Then you're even more ignorant than I previously thought. The Aurora engine NWN uses has some pretty severe limitations on mimicking things that even titles as old as Fallout did. It's very difficult for Aurora to track events from module to module, which makes it nearly impossible to do anything close to Fallout.

I think ONLY because they make isometric games.

Bioware and Bethsoft are sort of polar opposites. One makes linear games, the other makes games where some people don't even find the main story, sort of pathetic. One makes games with absolutely no character backstory, the other makes characters with so much useless information that you think you were reading Jane Austin.

Actually they do share one thing in common, shitty combat.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I still don't get it. Aren't Elves supposed to be frail and slender? When did they get boob jobs?

the size of tits featured in box art shall share no connection to gameworld canon!

- from the book of gaider, chapter 7, verse 12

Whats funny is that while Gaiderites were watching the character that aformentioned dude poured his heart into, all they were watching was her tits bounce rather then reading the words. LOL, those are Bioware fans for you. Only slightly better then Bethesda fans, which play games that don't contain words.

Aurora, with some tweaking, and obviously new resources, could quite easily do Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. The major work would be replacing d20 with SPECIAL. You don't really seem to know jack-all about game development.

i believe they did improve some of the carry over problems with HotU, but that doesn't make me gush and wax poetic over aurora, either...

I'm not saying that it's flawless. I'm just saying that it seems to be the closest thing to a 'modern' engine that would work for Fallout these days. The HOTU version does address most of the concerns I've ever seen on the engine itself, except for tile sizes and some pathfinding.

But, honestly, it would make an excellent starting block for a new Fallout game.

personally, i think the toee engine would make a much better starting block, and i'd venture to guess most of the codex folk would agree. this is largely based on the "look" i expected from VB over at black isle studios, however...

"Yes, we are all individuals" :)

Actually, considering how poorly TOEE was recieved by the general public, I actually excluded it for a reason.
