Can it be... my PC is actually a disguised fagbox?? To think I loved it all this time..

I already edited my original post with acknowledgment of my stupidity. It's fixed guys. But yeah, removing and putting back on the cuirass would have probably helped and is a much smarter idea than a PC restart. Shit, restarting the game would've probably been enough now that I think of it.. Maybe I SHOULD move to fagbox for all the intuition I'm exhibiting in PC business.

Also, there is one reason why I think the Divinity 2 should be considered Diablo-like with exceptionally strong RPG elements rather than proper cRPG.

That's exactly how it should be categorized.

The single fact quests have alternate non violent solutions is enough for me to dismiss it as being Diablo-like. Also there's no loot hunting with respawning mobs (also the reason why I think hand placed loot would have worked better). A hack & slash with strong RPG elements, sure, but not Diablo-like. I think that would be very misleading for someone who hasn't played it.

Oh ok forgot about 1. I need to come out of the closet and say that I haven't played it. I only got my first PC couple years after 2 came out and never got around to it. And now it doesn't even run on my PC for some reason. Anyway, I'll just assume Diablo 1 is a bit more like Divinity.

Are you saying there's a lack of intentionally silly and lulzy RPGs? Seems quite the opposite to me. FO3, New Vegas, Drakensang, Arcania... Bioware's intentions are debatable but the end result is the same.
I'd actually find it refreshing to see a well-crafted and engaging setting for once without mandatory bad puns to humor the retards.

Yeah that's what I'm saying - Bioware lulz aspire to whedon-esque 'wit' while Fo3, and New Vegas try for irony and dark humor with varying degrees of success. Neither approach is humble or like-able.

Divinity II is lighthearted, and its hard not to cut it some slack. But I wouldn't call its setting engaging or well-crafted. It's actually a mess, but an enthusiastic one that somehow manages to be appealing.

Drakensang was very light as well, not enough to save the day though...

Agreed. I've said it in another thread, but it bears repeating; if I'd seen it described as Diablo-like before I bought it, I wouldn't have touched it with a bargepole.

God DAMN Divinity II is addictive! Did you know that guys? I'm at level 25 with my second character and I'm already thinking about my next build. Someone said about the upcoming patch adding one more difficulty level, I hope it's true. I'm on Nightmare with this build and it's getting easy again. Difficulty really drops after you get the Battle Tower. Need.. more.. difficulty.. Can't help myself, I'm a shameless power gamer.

2. Yes, but it's the best Gamebryo has ever looked - almost unrecognisable.

Except Gamebryo runs at 75hz/FPS, and if you don't have a genuine display running 75hz (and none of that upscaling shit either) then you miss out on 15 FPS, and it downgrades the display, causing a slight stutter. I learned to hate that stuttering shit. DAoC was made in 2001, so it was excusable then when frame rates were usually 45hz/FPS. In 2011 there's no excuse for not being able to overcome the stuttering shit. It shows up prevalently in every Gamebryo game, including FO:NV.

Hmm, never did understand the stuttering complaints. I run the game on a 120hz 3D LCD monitor (not in 3D though - gives me a headache). Smooth as silk.

So then, it's a hardware problem - get better equipment you peasant. :smug:

EDIT: Nah, I just lowered my refresh rate to 60hz - no stuttering there either so you're full of shit.

On this note. Any of you considering an upgrade and you already have a reasonably beefy machine - I cannot recommend 120hz monitors highly enough. I got one just to try out 3D, but as I mentioned above - although it looks cool for a while, it eventually gives me motion sickness and a bit of a headache. (while playing games - 3D photos and movies look awesome though).

As a side benefit though, the 120hz refresh rate with almost 0 input lag, makes everything so much smoother and more 'snappy'. So any games running higher than 60FPS - you get to see every frame. Honestly - it's like being back in the good ole' CRT days (only @ 24" WS). Highly recommended. :incline:

My new favourite moment in the game: Meeting the flying bug demon down the town well.

"Devil: Muahaha, you're challenging ME? You and what army?"

*PC turns into a dragon*

"Devil:.....oh bugger.

Currently level 28, grinding my way through a flying fortress. They're kind of a pain to get through - huge and crawling with powerful ranged attackers and mages. If they are indeed optional, I think I'll skip doing more than this one.

Can anyone tell me if the Magic Missile skill is any good for a straight mage if you throw enough points into it? I've avoided it because the damage seemed pathetic, but having to wait 15 seconds for my fireball to recharge all the time is getting old.

I'd say yes. Currently putting points into it. MM + Destruction give perfect spammable spell with low MP cost and low cooldown rate, plus it hits multiple targets and damage is ok.

I always one-shotted that demon in Ego Draconis because I was overleveled when I met him and he could do no damage, but in DKS that bastard raped me again and again. I even had to resort to drinking potions in dragon form.

Thanks to this thread I installed the demo for the third time (I didn't get very far beyond Farglow during the first two attempts). It's the kind of game that's really not my cup of tea in many respects (I'm not a big fan of third person real-time combat, over-the-top high fantasy settings, etc.), but despite all that, this time it caught on (it may have helped that I disabled HDR, reflections and most vegetation, which made the world look a bit less of a fairy tale land). It's not breathtakingly great, but certainly enjoyable, if you're in the right mood.

What really surprised me however is the sheer extent of the demo (the DKS version). I must have been playing for something like 6-8 hours now and I still haven't explored everything or finished all quests (or at least I think so). Definitely not something you see very often these days, at least not on this scale.

Actually, I have it maxed out - 10 pts (after upgrading) and considering the cool down - I'd say it probably has more DPS than any other skill in the game (with WoTBM active and also maxed out).

Trust me, you ain't seen nothin' yet. If you're enjoying the demo, you'll love the game as it definately gets better as it goes along. Bite the bullet and get the full DKS and play it on 'Nightmare' - in no time you'll back here gushing like the rest of us.

Don't torrent it (as I did at first), it's not worth it, because you can't patch it and it NEEDS the patches.... (mostly to remove the stuttering)

Same for me - lost to him repeatedly DESPITE being 5 levels above him.

Somebody with a sense of humour designed the difficulty level of this game. You can be cruising along thinking you're all that when all of a sudden you run into a wimpy looking boss that rapes you with a broomhandle. I like it - keeps it fresh.

Probably no one will know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway.

I have the graphics all cranked to the max, and when I play, it's like about 5 feet in front of my character there is a magical line where the textures change. It's distracting as fuck and I don't know how to fix it. I also had this issue in Morrowind, I think.

I'm not sure if it's a draw distance thing or what, but I don't think you can change that. Any ideas?

edit: I think it's the shadows (especially from the trees) not textures

the beetle demon himself was fairly weak, and killing him wasn't a big deal. however, there was a problem with the cutscenes following his demise. if you left any of the summoned spawn alive, they'd rape you during the cinematics. I FUUUUU-ed pretty much.
till now, the toughest battle for me were the power rangers. hard-hitting long-range fuckers and this melee son of a bitch who always somehow managed to charge me and one-shot kill me :x

It's spammable, damage increases as well as number of missiles, and you have your magic damage added to the damage of every missile, which makes it very potent. If you have the skill that stuns enemies with magical attacks it's applied independently with each missile hitting the target.

A bit too potent, actually, don't rely exclusively on MM spam even if it's going to be your primary offensive ability.

That sounds like you don't have anisotropic filtering enabled, or it's not working for some reason. If you're running an Nvidia graphics card, try forcing AF in the Nvidia control panel for Divinity II's .exe file (add new profile, browse to the game folder to select the .exe, then force the AF option in the profile.) If you're running ATI, look for texture filtering in the Catalyst control center.
