Nah, easy enough to forget a minor gag from a game that came out a quarter of a century ago. It only clicked for me ~15 minutes later when I was browsing the MI2 page.

Great timing on this for me, incidentally. My dad's birthday is coming up, and he absolutely loved the LucasArts adventure games. I've tried introducing him to other games since then, and he always ends up comparing them to Monkey Island.

GOG is not all candy and rainbows. Hotline Miami 2 has some glaring issues, not only on Linux. Steam version works way better from what I'm told.

Yeah, but we did just get the latest Linux version (1.03) a few minutes ago so hopefully the GOG version will work as intended :)
Sounds cool. Is it still only 64 bit though? And, more importantly, does it still have issues with libsdl?

I see both 32-bit and 64-bit files here :)

The only issue with libsdl-2.0.0.so we encountered was one where on some Linux distros, such as Mint 17.1 (my distro at home, for example), the 64-bit game couldn't find the 64-bit version of libsdl-2.0.0.so and the only version it had in its /lib/ folder was the 32-bit version. This was easily solved by copying a 64-bit libsdl-2.0.0.so into the game's /lib/ folder.

Other than that there shouldn't be any issues with SDL or if there are with the CURRENT GOG version, then I hope this version will remedy those issues :)

Description for Loom. WTF is this sophisticated bullshit??
  • Stunning, high-resolution, 3D landscapes.
  • Sophisticated score and musical effects.
  • Detailed animation and special effects.
  • Elegant point 'n' click control of characters, objects and magic spells.
  • No burdensome typing, mapping, or inventory management.
  • An easy and engaging game for beginners and veterans alike.

JudasIscariot

What's the meaning of this? 3D landscapes in Loom?! :argh:

Failing your lore checks here, bros.

Why the fuck is there no English version of this on Youtube that isn't either shit quality or using the Special Edition graphics? But I repeat myself.

Just got done playing a little Outlaws. Man, this one really is as good as I remember. Getting one shot in the head sure doesn't happen in today's FPS! Also, the animated cut scenes are so well done they put to shame the billion-pixel stuff of today. Here the cut scenes actually feel integrated and part of the game proper, telling the story and setting up the next scenario. The level design itself is interesting with different approaches to each objective... the end bosses which are fun and hard to beat*. Lucas Arts really was good at FPS back in the day (remembering Jedi Knight fondly as well).

Either they were always hard to beat or my reflexes are getting slower with age... :argh:

Lucasarts was top notch because they usually made clones of other genres and improved it.

It started to decline when they started hiring other companies to make their products.

You're going to have the "Where are you Marshal?" sound clip stuck in your head for the next four weeks.
It's been 10 years since I played that game and "Where are you Marshal?" still goes through my head from time to time.

Yeah, I only played the demo of Outlaws back in the day, and I still remember that. Good times.

RECLAIM YOUR GAMES. DRM-FREE!

The DRM-free initiative.

We've always been on a mission to offer you games with no DRM protection whatsoever. Today, we want to start taking things a step further, help out people who bought a retail game with DRM, then ended up stuck with something rather unplayable. We can help you enjoy your favorites once again, and this time around, enjoy them DRM-free!

There are countless retail games out there that don’t work for various reasons: unsupported types of DRM, system incompatibilities, broken features. There's too many too count. Starting today, owners of several retail titles originally sold with DRM can get a digital copy of their game completely free at GOG.com: with no DRM as always, compatible with modern operating systems, and with plenty of goodies to boot.

Reclaim these games, DRM-FREE:

Editions released worldwide:

-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

-S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Editions released only in CIS & Russian territories:

-Mount & Blade: Warband

-Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword

-Eador: Genesis

To reclaim your game, just use one of the keys that came with your box. You can find more detailed information on the Reclaim your games, DRM-FREE! page to see if your key is compatible and just where to go from there.

This is just the start of something much bigger. We plan to add more titles to the list in the future - it's a long and complicated process that involves negotiating with multiple parties and a scavenger hunt to retrieve forgotten key-databases - but then, we are on a mission here, we'll do whatever it takes.

Nice move.

Also several Russian games has been released:

Galactic Assault: Prisoner of Power http://af.gog.com/game/galactic_assault_prisoner_of_power?as=1649904300

Sea Dogs http://af.gog.com/game/sea_dogs?as=1649904300

Wings of Prey Complete http://af.gog.com/game/wings_of_prey_complete?as=1649904300

Men of War http://af.gog.com/game/men_of_war?as=1649904300

Death to Spies http://af.gog.com/game/death_to_spies?as=1649904300

Pilot Brothers http://af.gog.com/game/pilot_brothers?as=1649904300

And 39 Russian games are on sale: http://af.gog.com/promo/weekend_promo_from_russian_with_love_020415?as=1649904300

More easterneuropean games on GOG - the better.

I unlocked all 3 Stalkers, CoP required multiplayer code while game code was "invalid".
Not sure about SHoC, no need for CD is ok but getting most patched version from GOG (1.0006) close the access for most of the mods for SHoC, like those based on legendary AMK. For anyone that want to try AMK - find Sidorovich Edition.
And still remember that sneaky DRM trap in Clear Sky, where playing without disc lock the dialog that happen in the 3/4 of the game (Mercenaries boss named Hog simply don't talk with you).

Another War is indeed cool but I'm sure in 95% that there's no English version.
Same with The Fall: Last Days of Gaia (most updated version is only in German).
