The GOG launcher is great, why are so many people bitching about it?

It has....
-No DRM
-Completely Optional
-Lightweight and Fast
-Nice Interface

Fixed a few things. It's still an alpha, so any btiching should be seen with a grain of salt, but it simply lacks lots of functions and can in no way replace the website at the moment. Not sure where the "fast" comes from. Maybe if you have three games there. Changing pages takes ages, and the refreshing of the view often doesn't work and the games are not clickable. It still needs lots of work.

GOG now offers DRM-free versions of STALKER and a few other games if you have them on other platforms

I redeemed my steam versions, SoC ran like crap with steam and I had to go in offline mode and do some other shit for it to be just a bit better. Hope the gog versions will be incline.

Looks like you are one of the lucky ones:

We have received from GSC list of boxed versions codes which we can accept and if your code is not on the list there will be nothing we can do to change it. I apologize for the inconvenience. If your reclaimed 2 games are Steam versions as well then you should simply consider yourself lucky that you were able to add games to your account at all.

I just bought CS a week ago with the bonus code they gave for merging your TWitcher account.
:nocountryforshitposters:
At least it was 80% off.

Well, I bought the games on gog.com. Anyway, the merging seems to be about this here:

It's nice how they switch language when it comes to selling your soul - or whatever else it is they ask you to agree to.

You can redeem Steam copies of The Witcher 1 and 2 on GoG.

Hopefully, you'll be able to redeem TW3 too.
Nope. They said that you won't be able to redeem other copies, at least not for a while. It's somewhere in the FAQ about TW3.

Initially, no, but I bet my ass that after a year or two you'll be able to do so. They'll start giving free copies of TW3 in that period too in order to promote the website before Cyberpunk 2077 is released.
Setting my crystal ball aside, yeah, I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to redeem the code after some time. They've done so with the first two games. Several days ago they've introduced the option of redeeming some other titles (namely Mount & Blade and STALKER series) with the promise of expanding the catalogue of potentially redeemable games. I see no reason why they wouldn't allow a game of their own making to become redeemable some time in the future.

GOG's invention of covers is really getting out of hand. They have now gone from inventing covers to inventing completely unrelated game titles for their photoshop covers.
Here's the original European Cover of History Line 1914-1918:

And here is the original American Cover:

Here is GOG's take:

If i'm in it for the story, should I also get Icewind Dale games + Temple, or just stick w/ the Baldur's Gate series

For story? Get Planescape.

Neverwinter Nights 2 so you can play Mask of the Betrayer.

IWD have good writing, not sure about ToEE. they didn't make me cringe, surely.
But the games mentioned post above are better, for sure. If not best.

IWD's writing is good, ToEE's serviceable, but the latter is a really good adaptation of the campaign.

ToEE's writing isn't that good, but it's servicable most of the time. It can get pretty abysmal if you delve deeper into the sidequests. No reason to do so, though. IWD is solid in that regard while IWD2, well, feels exactly like you'd expect from the length of time they spent on planning the story. The writing certainly feels like they didn't put that much time in it, either.
the latter is a really good adaptation of the campaign.
I wish more games would take that approach, but with proper attention to at least the writing, if not the storytelling. ToEE is still really refreshing in regard.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
I see that the LucasArts title Afterlife is now available on GOG.

Under 64-bit Windows 7, the tutorial cannot be played. Anyone know if they've fixed this?

My guess is that it’s the DOS version.
