Obviously some nights are more prone to good news than others (), and in particular in relation to games that a certain Leonard Boyarsky worked on. So it seems that vtm : Bloodlines will release this year on GOG among others titles from Activision.

This SCPM dude is very reliable for news of release on GOG. So I think it has a high chance of becoming true, without any dates that said. Others activision titles could be throne of darkness and others old sierra titles... :smug:
What a funny coincidence. I hope Bloodlines' release on GOG can satisfy the community, a brief look at the GOG forums shows they seem to be getting restless for more old-school classics:

With Bethesda bringing their back-catalog to GOG, where the Hell is Oblivion? It's damn near 10 years old! Quake IV is practically two generations old! Where's Quake IV?

Take the rough with the smooth, would love to see Oblivion and many, many other titles.

EDIT : There are also rumors circling around for a Black and White release... Not totaly convinced that said with Microsoft.
GOG are fucking wizards if they manage to strike a deal with MS. So many great old PC games are kept as hostages by them. But I somehow doubt it, it is easier for me to imagine them releasing overpriced and unpolished "HD" rereleases of B&W or Freelancer like they did with AoE2 and AoM (only this time as Win Store exclusives :negative:).
Even worse, with B&W series it is possible that some legal shenanigans exist between EA and MS, so it is possible that those games will never be rereleased in any shape.

Even the Codex had a short memorial thread.

I told you guys, Oblivion is an old school classic now. You can play it without feeling ashamed.

White March is pretty much separate from the main game. Kind of like HoW for IWD1. That said, it's pretty good, and I actually like parts of the expansion better than the main game. The downside is that the main quest is fairly short and the rest is all over the place - just additional short dungeons or encounters I never asked for...

I'd say restart the game with 3.x patch installed and see if you like it more - then you can get the expansion if you do. I also dropped the game around Defiance Bay at release, but it's surprisingly more playable with the recent improvements.

P.S. The loading times are still bullshit.
Speaking of which, GOG Galaxy has to be the single most stubborn, pointless thing GOG has released. I've been trying to update from 2.x-3.x since yesterday. It's stuck at 100.0%, and it just stays there. I've aborted 3 times already. Wow, this is frustrating.

I had to simply reinstall the game when the last two patches came out, it couldn't finish updating on its own and ended with a "Disk error" message. But yeah, just avoid Galaxy. I installed it just for the hours counter, but PoE has hours counter on its savegames now.

And all those neat features they promised seems will never arrive. Matchmaking for multiplayer, crossgame chat... it is really a useless application as it is.

Can't say I've had much trouble with it, though I agree with others it's kinda a bit pointless. Still, helps me keep track of my games.

If you're having trouble with Galaxy, you can always download the file and patch directly.

You cannot imagine how sad it makes me that people on GOG are asking for this game.

It truly is the end of the golden era of videogames.

You don't need to spend much time on GOG forums to realize that their userbase is far from being some kind of paragons of taste... Their forums are much more "civilized" than Steam ones, and that's about all there is to them.

I guess it was inevitable. People who grew up with games like Oblivion posting on GOG because they want everyone to know how old-school and retro they are and they want to interact with similar :obviously: folks.

It won't be long before they're talking about how they just don't make games like Fallout 3 anymore.

The community has really gone to shit in the last few years, and it has to do with alot of stuff. Like scammers in the giveaway and trade threads, they even have some black lists about known scammers and shit. The level of discussion has also decreased a lot during the last years, and while the effects of stuff like gamergate didn't really had a noticeable mark in the forums (that I've noticed anyway), the recent SoD drama was the straw that broke the camel's back. There were even some LEAVING FOREVER (tm) threads. You gotta remember GOG caters to a more diverse audience than the Codex, and some of them really like modern games. People with these tastes have been there long before The Witcher 3 was released, if that's your idea.

Funny thing I have GOG account since 2008 but didn't go to the forum until 2012?
Did I miss some value?

My HDD is indeed 6 years old now, and I was suspicious of it anyway, but I guess if it was giving you the same error, those monkeys were at fault. So I bought a new HDD and made the last PoE install there. With GoG at least you get to choose where you want to install a game (there are tricks to move your steam installs but who has the time for that). Galaxy is still shit though.

So, I stopped trying with GOG Galaxy. I downloaded and installed the patches manually, but patch 3.02 gives me an error. Now, I'm trying to verify the game though GOG Galaxy and seeing if I can install it through there. Fuck, GOG is clunky as shit.

I thought it was my antivirus at first. I disabled it, but yeah, I still get errors trying to patch the game to 3.02.

I read the patch log, and it says incorrect version. It shouldn't be because I followed the patch instructions to go from 2.03->3.00->3.01->3.02. They all patched up fine, but when trying to go from 3.01->3.02, it's giving me this error. If this verify doesn't work, I'm going to have to get a fix ticket or something on the website.

The game specific forums can be good if you want info, but the main forum has always been a bit crap on GOG. I posted a bit back in 2008-09 and it was full of beggars, dull trolls and small-time prima donnas even then. The relative lack of moderation does keep it more tolerable than the average gaming forum though.

I've used Galaxy, but I've found it's been pretty pointless software other than automatically grabbing updates for the Witcher 3 for me. You can really tell they rushed it out, and then seem to have dumped it into maintenance mode. I doubt we'll see much for real feature development on it anytime soon.

The funny thing is people asking for a client weren't a minority. So it's not like gog "forced" people to use Galaxy, it's still optional, but I guess I'll just try it again when it's actually complete instead of what we have now.

Most of the time, in a case like that, some query window has opened behind the client that asks you to agree to some update of a Windows component. No idea why it opens behind the client window instead of in front of, but it happens. At least that was the case with the last Witcher 3 or PoE update (forgot which one). I think it was some C++ library (or something like that), and choices were "repair" or "remove". I clicked on "repair", and the installation completed.
