Yeah, I saw that too, it's marketing stunt, there is almost nothing substantial.
An ingenious marketing stunt, though. With all the hype surrounding the "Stop Killing Games" movement, the fact that GOG allows you to download offline installers for games works in their favour immensely. I hope this does get more people to buy GOG games, so more companies would support it and game preservation in general.
Yeah.
Gotta remember to save those offline installers.

Funny thing is, I read an article from a psychology researcher a few years back... he said that rats could be domesticated just fine, and they even made good pets. But mice? No matter how well you treated them, they'd always end up biting you at random. The common wisdom of rats vs. mice is apparently backwards.

Jirds > rats > mice

Merida, again
Those recent updates they did to their games broke wine compatibility for me. Motherfuckers. Arcanum no longer loads games, it just gets stuck thinking about it. Thankfully I still have the old installer in a backup.

Steam Girl vs Gog-chan... hmmm. You know, Steam Girl has a delivery job but I have no idea what GOG-chan does but play game and model for GOG. Itch.io has no mascot unless it is a frog nor does EPIC. No steam gal fall sale steam store stuff like spring & summer. Odd.

Go to your GOG library, and type in a name in the filter, to get to the game you want. Each picture of each game has an arrow at the lower right corner, which gives you a menu, and the first item is "View Downloads". You'll then see something that looks like this:

vDscgax.png

If the game is small enough, it will be a single .exe (like in the image above). If it's larger, there will be a small 1 MB .exe, followed by one or more .bin files, that contain the binary data for the installer. In either case, just run the one .exe file, and it processes through the .bin files.

Didn't I watch a video last month about some silly remaster coming out that has some good features but a shit ton of BLEK and missing features. Bad multi-play as well? Or is this just blizzard getting a cold flaccid gaming dick?

If you get them before delisted maybe GOG is still pretty ok. Sury someone still has Duke Nuke'm 3D in their GOG library.

I need to see how many games GOG & STEAM have delisted....

Anyway, GOG is showcasing their new seal and oddly, warcraft is in most of those videos. So, this is clearly Blizzard's decision to pull out and not pleasure GOG with a blizzard of goey gaming goodness. GOG-Chan not happy.

And another one bites the dust.

I almost always buy original version on GOG when the remaster is announced. I've bought Warcrafts two weeks ago.

Sometimes it does not change anything. I guess Blade of Destiny HD and "new" Blade Runner publishers were not able to pull originals from GOG.

Sometimes GOG was able to work out a bastardly deal, like adding original Baldur's Gate or Wizardry 7 as a free bonus to 'enhanced' edition. It leaves customers feeling dirty for financing desecration.

Sometimes original version just disappears. I still have original Simon the Sorcerer 1/2 on Galaxy - the original games were fine as they were. One day I will download offline installers and back them up.

Offline installers are the single most important feature of GOG. For GOG "Preservation Program" to make any sense they should allow downloading of every single offline installer version they have ever released.

I probably downloaded Simon from myabandonware. Long ago it was HOTU (home of the underdogs) but dialup sucked and many files got corrupted by viruses and were deleted. Some survived. It looks like my GOG 25th anniversary editions have the Legacy old one.

I will pay any amount of money (up to 9.99$) to GOG for any game that has preliminary support in ScummVM.

Sure, original developers making their creation public domain is preferable.

When original developers cannot do that, it creates chicken and egg problem. No one will pay hundreds of $$$ for boxed copy, and ScummVM will not add support for pirated copies, as they've promised that to Lucasfilm / LucasArts. So the game will be left to be forgotten, because DosBox developers cannot fix the game if the original caused problems back in the day, 20-30 years ago.
