That was me so thanks

My comment

At least DON'T remove the original games from Steam/GoG.

According to steamspy, the TEASER is owned by half of million of players. If less than 10% managed to complete the teaser... I an pretty sure that if the survey was send after the first combat, the results would be completely different.

Less than 1/4 of the players got the achievement of killing 5 scavengers. Near 2/3 of the players din't got the basic weapon achievement. So there are a lot of players who din't finished the teaser and din't got the survey link https://steamcommunity.com/stats/950670/achievements/

I honestly have like 1000 hours on all Gothic games on steam + GoG, on GoG, G3 is my second most played game, only for G1 i have like 200 hours(steam + gog) and i could't play this teaser for more than about half of a hour. The combat is too slow, clunky, UNimmersive and the controlls are awful for mouse & keyboard. Din't answered the survey since i din't got a link and believe that are a lot of people in the same situation. The motion blur, screen shaking and post processing literally was a pain in the eyes. The cutscenes felt more like a generic consequenceless action game than gothic.

TL;DR - Take the feedback of the many guys who could't finish the teaser.

Anyone here managed to finish the teaser?

Good comment. I couldn't bring myself to finish the teaser. Steam says I have 8 hours in the game but that's because I played for an hour then tabbed out and bitched about the game for 7 hours before I closed it. I added their community manager to my friends list on Steam and got him to send me a direct link to the survey so I was able to fill it out that way. I'm pretty sure the PB twitter account also linked to the survey (even though I was told not to share the link. I think they did an oopsie) so a bunch of people who didn't even play it probably filled it out.

Googling around while I was pissed about the game is what actually led me to the Codex

Gothic was has been killed 3 times with Gothic 3 then Forsaken Gods, Arcania and finally Fall of Setarrif.

Gothic 3 is not that bad.

Sure, the melee combat is very lackluster. Is who stunlocks first and there re no epic weapon like Beliar's Claw or Uriziel in the game. Gothic 3 is just not good as G1/G2. Forsaken Gods in other hands felt like a poor parody and ArcaniA is a complete piece of Trash.

Look to GoG scores
Gothic 1 - 4.6/5 - https://af.gog.com/game/gothic?as=1649904300
Gothic 2 - 4.6/5 - https://af.gog.com/game/gothic_2_gold_edition?as=1649904300
Gothic 3 - 4.0/5 - https://af.gog.com/game/gothic_3?as=1649904300
Forsaken gods - 2/5 - https://af.gog.com/game/gothic_3_forsaken_gods?as=1649904300
ArcaniA - 2.3/5 - https://af.gog.com/game/arcania?as=1649904300

Honestly, this remake felt WORST than ArcaniA and Forsaken Gods.

This user reviews on GoG IMO reflects the game quality. Gothic 3 is good but still inferior compared to G1/G2. Gothic 1 is not perfect(ie - too short), neither Gothic 2(they limit too much your choices. Why i can't be a Xardas apprentice?) and Gothic 3 is a unfinished game

Gothic 3 is ok with the community patch, but personally I almost always dropped it way before finishing. The big but generic world with very repetetive content is a total opposite of what G1 and G2 are, where the world is much smaller but every little thing feels unique and placed by hand for a reason.

I know that people will freak out but my first time on G2 was a disappointment.

I will explain. The first gothic game that i've played was G3. I learned water magic from druids and sided with Adanos ending. Then read more on google and found that most people love Gothic 2 much more than 3 and even 1; decided to try G1. As a magefag, that i an, spended hours trying to talk to water mages and convince then to teach me magic, only to give up, look to google and understand that you can only be a fire magician. The most boring mage type IMO But din't fave up on G2 and spended hours doing all types of boring quests to join the monastery. Including escorting a sheep to the monastery, using sleep to steal a hammer and destroy a Golem(it should make the novice expelled not promoted) and finally after 25 hours, when i was able to learn magic, i could cast 2 fire arrows and ran out of mana... After investing a lot of LP, still was using mana potions after each encounter. Become so disappointed that din't touched G2/1 for years. Until i decided to give G1 a try and since i was expecting weaker magic, decided to be a templar on my first run to be able to play with both(magic and melee) and loved Gothic 1. Then gave another chance to G2 and finished G2.

I also did a lot of runs on G1/G2. Never managed to be a pure mage in either games. And G1 is my favorite BUT when i heard about returning 2.0, i decided to install G2 again and failed to install the mod many times.

Seriously. Returning 2.0 is so amazing. Only watched a walktrough but i really wanna play and test some builds like

"Unambiguous feedback"? That feels like somebody is trolling.

Yes, we do it! The Gothic Remake is going to happen

After unambiguous feedback, THQ Nordic will head into full production on the Gothic Remake

Next step is to set up a Barcelona based studio and head into main production

Barcelona, Spain / Vienna, Austria, February 19th, 2020: Just a little over two months after releasing a playable teaser for the Gothic Remake and asking the players for their feedback, the answer is clear: The fans are up for a new "old" Gothic game and the vast majority (read: 94,8%) was in favour to develop a remake of the iconic German RPG Gothic, originally released in 2001.

Over 180.000 players have played the playable teaser so far. On the evening (CET) of February 16 2020, THQ Nordic took the survey offline, and hereby publicly releases the raw data of the survey, as well as highlight graphs. With more than 43.000 answered surveys and over 9.000 (yes, really!) reviews on Steam and various discussions on all social media platforms, there is enough data to check.

Eager to check for yourself? As we want to start a transparent and open production with the community from the very start of the project, we are happy to offer you the results of our survey in a neat PDF file or - for the people who really want to dig into the raw data - the entire dataset with all 43.111 participants included.

Next Steps for the Gothic Remake

THQ Nordic will establish a new studio based in Barcelona, Spain, and will then assess what players liked and what they want to be different than in the playable teaser. One of the most common mentions was for example the demand for a grittier and less colourful world.

"We are up for the challenge to develop a full Gothic Remake which will stay as faithfully as possible to the original experience and transport the atmospheric world of Gothic into a high quality look and carefully modernizing certain gameplay mechanics." says Reinhard Pollice Business and Product Development Director at THQ Nordic.

The full Gothic Remake will go into production and will be developed for PC and next gen consoles. There is no release window available yet, but it will not be coming in 2020.

Remember, Piranha Bytes is a THQN studio too so I hope that they'd at least consult on a remake of their masterpiece and say "this is dumb as fuck change it".

But they already got the approval form THQ nordic. Of course, only the guys who managed to finish the abomination that the remake is voted.... This teaser will gonna be worse than ArcaniA. Lets just hope that they will not take the Originals from steam/gog like Blizzard did with WC3 reforged.

I'm in. Porbably will lose some of the magic og Gothic has. And factoring in that it's coming to consoles I wonder how much it will be stripped down to cater to the lowest common denominator

Let it be known that I played the teaser recently and I lasted less than what I did with Arcania, absolute defilement of Gothic and the fact that they're going through with this is the steepest of declines.

Holy shit, didn't knew Gothic 2 can look so good

This is why IMO THQ should hire the returning team. Imagine what they could do with access to the source code and a salary. But no, THQ nordic decided to try to remake Gothic 1 into another ArcaniA clone...
