The most obvious solution is from left to right, unless you are a jew or an arab, I suppose

I was mainly operating on the order which they are brought up in the poem on the second floor.

Thanks for the hint!

Well, it says "sun, moon and star" in that order, no? so sun is left, moon is middle and star is right

So how exactly do I ID monsters? Is it an active skill? I keep expecting it to just sorta happen on its own, like Wizardry, but I'm fighting a lot of fucking ?squirrels? and ?hummingbirds? still.
I think you use the identify spell on them.

It's the mythology skill and the fastest way to get it is by recruting Rosy.
I got the mythology skill by getting attacked by the fungi things in briarpatch.

I meant someone with a high enough skill in mythology to recognize most monsters.

Apologies if asked before.

How does the lockpicking interface work exactly?

Door locks need the lockpicking skill. Chest locks need the inspection skill.

Door locks are about solving a riddle and on the bottom you see how many wrong letters you can pick until the trap goes off.
Chest locks: First click on the outer edges on both sides to get the numbers, then cut the strings starting at number 1 on both sides.

Speaking of which - how are we supposed to get the goblet from Junga Din short of using Mindread? And this time I missed the memo about the sequence of actions at the altar of Hobknob. In old versions I think the Tome contained instructions what to do, but this time it only contains some poetic text instead, so I had to go by memory. How did you guys figured it out without my background?

I saw the goblet when I tried recruiting him (lol no, basically) and then I asked him about it, so he just gave it to me. The sequence of placing things on the altar wasn't explained anywhere, so I got stuck there too. It's sort of an unconventional approach, but I guess it makes sense when dealing with demons that require offerings.

Where exactly is the Tome located? I killed the Black Lich already but I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

EDIT: Never mind, I just saw Mondblut's post in the other thread.

Does anyone know what to do with the Chronoworks machine in the Museum of Magic? I assume it's like the puzzle in Wiz 7 but I was wondering if anyone knew where to find clues on what order to work the machine in.

He gave it to me just by saving him. I saved him and he gave me the goblet as a reward. I didn't even ask anything.

Also, I found a negative consequence of killing Mordecai:
Captain Krone is pissed off.

Look in the monk catacombs for the clue.

On the note of Krone, is there anything important I need him for? I've read that he's supposed to give you a letter of recommendation, but I don't think it's possible for me to talk with him now, even with casting Charm.

If you thought sleep and paralyze lutes were overkill, wait till you find halcyon lute w/deep freeze. 200+ damage on the start, 1500+ with maxed music, every turn, unlimited charges, no backfires, almost no fizzles. Free slaughter to everyone.

You are supposed to bring him expedition ring and then show him lich's staff. If he hates you, you can bribe him a few times.

Excellent, I think I got everything from Krone now - including a key to the Armory which I already looted clean before bribing him.

One thing I have learned is that Missile Shield in Grimoire is not the same as Wizardry 7 in that it doesn't seem to protect my characters at all, or maybe the Vanguard Bowmen are just really high level.

I got a hot foot banjo. Makes the enemies go retarded and punch each other to death. Can't penetrate a ?Rude Chap?? No problem. Play your loot and get those hot-footed flamers penetrating each other from all angles while you watch and smile. Flames + penetration = true blooded thal triumph

Is there any way past the western most gate in the Vanguard Armory? I still have the Key to Armory and that doesn't interact with that particular skeleton gate.

Choose "imprisoned" start, and you'll appear in Crowl prison that lies beyond that grate. No way to open it from the other side.

I must be retarded, but I'm not exactly sure how the movement works.

Could someone please tell me what is the difference between just straight arrow, and curved arrow when it comes to movement?

::EDIT::

Oh, I see. The curved arrow is just the direction you face, but the problem is that when it comes to bushes the mechanism seems to be different?

When there was a bush right in front of me, and I pressed arrow curving to the left, suddenly I ended up on the right side of the bush facing it. If I press arrow curving to the right, suddenly I end up on the left side of the bush facing it.

Can anyone confirm that what I'm seeing is right, and explain why it's designed this way?

It's turning. Did you ever play a first-person game before, let alone a grid-based blobber?

When there was a bush in front of me, and I pushed the arrow curving to the left (A on keyboard), somehow I ended up on the right side of the bush facing it?

A bush is "inside" a cell. When you stand in the same cell, you will face it regardless of your direction, because it occupies the same space as you.

I thought arrow curving to the left would mean that I would move forward one step (therefore stepping on the bush), and then face left.

I hope you don't drive... :negative:

Arrow curving to the left means you turn left.

Thanks. It was the "inside" the cell concept I didn't get at first. Now, it makes sense.

So it seems when it comes to quest items, improved identify (and probably oracle, and all npcs unless they say "no, thanks") is a quest compass. ID it, and your log will get an entry often saying everything that must be done with it.

Is it really possible to resurrect (or rather raise dead) Mistral?

When my Sage reached 4th level, I gave her 1 point in music and had her equip a lute that paralyzes an enemy. By the time she reached level 5, her music skill had reached 63. :M I'll probably stop using it, though, as it's a bit overpowered.

People start with this owl figurine for the raptor place? What if I didn't? Am I just out of luck and do I miss out on anything important?
