I was considering a better formulation.

I have now replaced "postmodernist SJWs" with "postmodernist leftists".

One thing I haven't seen Cleve mention is whether he'll consider using Steam's beta branch for limited testing of new patches before pushing out updates to everyone. Really think he needs to get on this going forwards as he is planning pretty major changes to Grimoire and breaking the game again would not go down well. Even this savegame 'fix' he is planning, why not just put it out to those with broken saves first and let them test, rather than potentially causing another problem for those who have restarted?

I know he's got people screaming about manuals, and virus scan false-positives, and rationalwiki articles, and scaling... but a more structured approach and possibly also a pinned thread about what he's currently working on could save a lot of grief down the line imo.

Do recruitable NPCs leave after a certain time or not go to certain areas? Is it viable to make a party of 6 characters, find two NPCs you like and stick with them for the rest of the game?

I've got 3 NPC's and none of them seem to be going anywhere. Even after I found the sister of one of them and completed her quest, she said she will stay with me.

Which has the same meaning (and causes the same reactions). I propose you to simply use the word "postmodernists"(which is what I've done in my stolen version of the text), it doesn't have the same connotations as "SJW" or "leftists" (people automatically assume you are gaymer gayter reddit/4ch dweller). Using those words unironically is simply bad taste and lowbrow and it spoils otherwise highly intellectual and monocled text.

Reposting this here from the gameplay thread:

Had to download the earlier version since Cleve activated auto-updates and my saves stopped working.

Basically, start the Steam console by typing this in the browser: steam://nav/console

Then in the Steam console type in:
download_depot 650670 650672 7939698706882502090

If you want other previous versions, you need to change the last number (ManifestID). A list of all ManifestID's is here:
https://steamdb.info/depot/650672/manifests/

Cleve back on duty. Save game (backward) compatibility is probably indeed the most critical issue.

GOLDEN ERA GAMES [ontwikkelaar] Zojuist
I am working on it now. I think this is good because I am making the loader smarter and to look at possible discrepancies and not assume the savegame is the voice of authority if it doesn't match the current data in the map. This will protect in the future if there is ever a similar map edit that changes pointer structure. The side effect of this could be for some of you is that Sanctuary will vanish into the Twilight Zone as though it never existed. If your savegame was from inside Sanctuary you may find your party locked inside it for all eternity like the seventh circle of Hell, doomed to ride the non-functioning metabolic enhancer for all time and fire the Star Gauntlet at the walls until you go hopelessly mad. There will be no effect on new games but the ladder will disappear back to it and there will be no way out for those who were inside when they saved.

Dunno why he's so fixated on sanctuary. People have told him the saves were broken even if you didn't start in sanctuary. I did not, I do not even know where this area is, and all my saves are broken. Hope he isn't chasing the wrong bug and adding more oil to the fire.

As I've said before...He has his head so far up his own ass, his methane farts can't supply enough oxygen to his brain. The only time he sees sunshine is if he opens his mouth and all that comes out is incoherent bullshit.

I'm getting some Ron Gilbert-y vibes from some of the fourth wall breaking, ACME vending machines, etc. Are we in for a plot twist on the nature of the world of Hyperborea?

User reviews have dropped to 72% positive, dangerously close to switching to "Mixed".

Looks like SA and Broken Forum are putting more valiant effort into this than Codex!
Down to 70% right now! One more point, and the game will switch to Mixed. :smug:

SA right now:

Come on Cleve, perhaps this "Canadian comedy troupe" are just enthusiastic readers of Vault-Co? It's a possibility.

It is my own personal digression that females resulting from these unions were recycled as camp whores and the male children became a subhuman caste of weapon making slaves who were required to cover themselves with black pitch. After many millennium, these slave castes revolted and escaped their bondage to become the Basque people and many other genetic lines in the Celtics. Today, when these genes are expressed very strongly such that they produce marked changes to the physiology of the entire body and the brain we call it "Asperger's Syndrome." These genes can express naturally or be triggered epigenetically by trauma.

While wating for my Steam Key so I can infect my poor laptop with that spyware crap I have over 15 glorious hours, started on the Gardens of Midnight and just came back to Crawl after finish up the Aquavia and version .01 seems just fine to me
I decided to stick to those starter areas waiting for a fix for the save game incompatibility issues and so far so good, the game is better than I remember and I can literally lose myself hours at a time playing and look up and 5 hours have gone by
I will go back to savescuming treasure chests to get the best items for balancing my starter party but thay feeling of slowly building up their levels, skills and gear is oh so gratifying although I must say that not having skill gains from using magic is kind of weird since almost everything else follows the "use it and get better" principle
Read somewhere that backers have this special chests with awesome loot... hope to see what they are all about

Since there are two campaigns, maybe he first gives out keys to one campaign and then the other. Maybe 'Grimoire Forever' is the last campaign to get the keys, My last name starts with a 'B', so alphabetically...

Whatever, he is at it, so we will see when the key arrives.
