One thing that I never understood about Cleve. Why would he create a fantasy role-playing game like Grimoire in the first place?

- Aside from it, he never talks about RPG's or fantasy in general

- In fact, I've never seen him really talk about Grimoire at all

- He just doesn't seem like the geek-type. All he really cares about is ITZ, predicting ITZ, building his bunker, and reminiscing about his titanium bones, bionic limbs and whatnot.

Am I way off, or...?

Edit: I realize he once worked for Sir Tech, but still.

Double edit: Three posts above mine, uh oh!
He praised Fallout 3 once

Good to see that Cleve learned a little something from Limbo of the Lost.

For those that didn't click on Lord Rocket's link:

You know what? Compare those two images again.

A considerable amount of editing went into the first one, specifically in its lower-right corner (not even counting the added text). Obviously done to make it more appropriate for a loading screen or whatever that screen was originally edited to be used for.

This story's getting weirder. Why would Cleve blatantly steal the art, and even go so far as to alter it like that? Did someone else already do that, then he just "borrowed" it? Do these things give credence to the notion that Grimoire might actually be close to being done, or detract from it?

Either way, he's got some explainin' to do!

You do know Cleave is sitting in his bunker laughing at how he is continuing to troll the codex on his vaporware title.

Cleve!
The Man they call Cleve!
He's lied for 10 years, and he'll lie for 10 more,
He lives in a cave, with a big metal door.
Our mistrust of him now, ain't hard to believe,
The man behind Grimoire, the man they call Cleve!

Now Cleve saw the Codex's interest waning,
He feared RPGWatch would forget.
Our belief in his words, beyond straining,
Our attention he needed, you bet.
So he said, "Please indulge my neurosis!"

"Pay attention to me, please!"
So Cleve redesigned his site,
The golden baby still shone bright,
A new 'release date' he announced, with such ease.

He's lied for 10 years, and he'll lie for 10 more,
He lives in a cave, with a big metal door.
Our mistrust of him now, ain't hard to believe,
The man behind Grimoire, the man they call Cleve!

Now here is what separates rampant narcissists
From common folk like you and I
The man they call Cleve
Was hard to believe
He'd never eaten humble pie.
You see he couldn't hold a simple promise
He couldn't tell the honest truth
And the man they call Cleve
Was hard to believe
His demeanor, was simply, uncouth.

He's lied for 10 years, and he'll lie for 10 more,
He lives in a cave, with a big metal door.
Our mistrust of him now, ain't hard to believe,
The man behind Grimoire, the man they call Cleve!

(All in good fun. I actually hope he finishes the damn thing. Would love to play it someday.)

It's possible that the original dragon image was already modified and used by SSI in some of the D&D CRPG classics , they did that with a lot of the good old TSR art.

I would have forgotten about that fiasco forever if you hadn't mentioned it. Thanks.

Oh cut the lying hippo some slack. He's just taking a leaf from Bethesda's book, the one called "I used that great original piece as a reference since it was exactly what I was going for (hell, I even have the poster)" or somesuch.

Haha, wow, what a thread.

I did that concept. You claim it to be a ripoff? Hate to burst your bubble, but no, it's not.

Well, I have a gallery containing most of the half-decent or better dragon art that can found on the 'net on my HDD, so my alarm was simply "trololo...".

Grimoire, the most anticipated RPG for the last few decades,...

Ah yes. I remember back when I would turn the dial to channel 27 after watching Thundercats so I could see if Donahue would release any more details on this game. I still don't see anything about a release date. I'll just have to satisfy my gaming itch with Zaxxon for now.

Any news on which system it will be released on? I just picked up a new Commodore 64 but my Collecovision's been on the fritz.

Ive seen the news on rpgwatch forum as well , and pmed ventilator to see if it was worth mentioning here, last time it was due an april release that guy came trolling here again drooling like a retard saying APRIL FOOLS!!!, so i dont really expect a fall release. He spent years trolling the codex spreading his shit everywhere, and his 2 cents theories, but he dont even mention that "prestigious rpg magazine" on his site...
According what corwin said on rpgwatch the delay was just for fixing bugs and making it run on modern systems, 2 more months to make a dosbox shortcut. No surprise he prefer that place they are much more gullible and not really heavy on criticism.
Theres an earlier build of grimoire floating around , so its not complete vaporware .Like most people here i started with wizardrys ultima , and those type of games so id buy it if i have guarantees my money will not go to some neanderthal supremacist group.

Ever heard of "placeholders", gentlemen?
Maybe it's only me, but in case of presenting placeholders should be rather avoid in public releases.

Anyway :salute: can't wait.
