I just wanted to reiterate that I feel the changing culture of the Codex, more ban happy, having even gone as far as deleting that banned guy's posts not that long ago, will change this place for the worse.

Says one of the Codex's most mild mannered users. Do you want me to remind you of your reaction to the D&D with Porn Stars thread, Alex?

It appears to be "ban happy" for only those that go out of their way to create alts, shit-post, and weep hysterically in Site Feedback. That constitutes five obsessive people?

more ban happy

Are you trollin'? When I joined shitposters were banned constantly. Five people were banned within three months. We banned FretRider and... yeah, within the last couple of months. The policy now is queue/RPG Watch, then ban. Back then they were just banned.

You being here since 2007, I'm extremely surprised that you haven't read DarkUnderlord's rant on "we've always banned people" before. He's typed it up plenty of times.

Back then I didn't lurk as much as I did later on, but I remember Saint P. was pretty trigger happy with the ban button. And while VD threatened more people than he actually banned, he wasn't exactly averse to doing it either. If anything this place is far more tolerant of shitposting now, and the only people that get constantly banned and nuked are the alts of the same three shitposters.

Eh, maybe you are right. I certainly don't remember reading threads about people getting banned back then, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Still, I think it is a bad move, specially if the banning offense didn't happen in one of the gaming forums. I like it that we have people from so many different backgrounds around here. I mean, sure, a lot of people here come up with silly stories about who they are in real life, I think, but still, we have a pretty diverse crowd. And while a lot of people here don't care much for arguing about videogames anymore, they sometimes do, and sometimes post interesting opinions that are very much worth reading. I don't care what kind of political opinions a poster holds, or how much he loves to troll people, or whatever. I want to be able to read what the poster thinks if he decides to post it.

It did. The only difference IS that people didn't make endless threads about it all the time.

In case you haven't noticed, DU has a very specific hierarchy for where you can and cannot shitpost. And the gaming fora are NOT at the top of the "shitpost and die" list. Site Feedback is. Ergo, making a shitthread in Site Feedback is the equivalent of PMing DU with "please ban me RIGHT NOW kkthnxbye". A lesson that shitposters forget again and again, with predictable consequences.

Oh good! Maybe things are improving then after all! Hopefully this thread will get big enough DU will en up having to unban Fretrider and stop banning so wily nilly.

Well, then I guess me and DU disagree what the hierarchy should be.

Edit: That said, sorry if this post comes across as a bit brusque. I really dislike the way things went, but that is no reason to snap at anyone.

Guido in an e-mail conversation with me said:
If there were a way for my account to be unbanned I would like to post at the codex again, but I think there isn't.

There you have it.

There's a new Pope, it's supposed to be a time of renewal for everyone. And there's no denying that his input on such subjects would be appreciated.

He has made legit contributions after all, including the Azrael Tear's let's play too, it would be harsh to ban him permanently when he now expresses wishes to the contrary, and is part of our dysfunctional family after all, or so to speak.

No. NO! This is exactly what I was talking about.

Do we really want to allow save scumming here? Is there no Consequence to our Choices at RPGCodex?

IS THERE NO JUSTICE?
