I think he is going to fail, again. :(

Fail at what? I'm not sure this is going to be a Kickstarter.

Fail at making a good and interesting game for old school crowd (as I can only see them interested in projects made by him). Obvious to me he wants to "streamline" this and harvest more $$$ from casual gamers. But I guess man's gotta eat. Not interested in this, but if it turns out it will really be something "deep" and spectacular (i.e. not just a Grimrock clone) with real crpg elements I might give it a shot.

I'll be interested in his choice of setting as well.

Generic fantasy or Hunger Games? You decide.

He is going to have to come up with something innovative that sets it apart from Grimrock.
Yes and here's how:

"Think of it this way, if there’s an earthquake, in most stepped genre games you would see the screen shake and that’s about it. In the case of Deathfire, I want this to become a much more gripping event where you will see rocks shake loose, where dust clouds will form and debris will rain down from the ceiling. Characters will react to it, voice their disapproval and fear, based on their stats, or urge the others to move along before everything caves in. On the whole, I want it to become an experience that is every bit as vibrant and alive as it is dangerous and adventurous."

Seriously...this man is out of touch with reality.

Henkel ripped art in his old games as well.
So did Arcanum.

EDIT: portrait art, that is.

Because they weren't just plainly traced over with the same pose and everything, they just used the famous people's faces.

Actually fuck that's wrong but at least they didn't look like they should be on the same frame as dead state's t-rex woman:

RT blobber? Oh come on.

Protip: the more similarity to RoA, the better. If you want the old-school audience, that is.

Don't have any trust in the dude after the crap he tried to peddle in that awful Kickstarter, but at least this sounds a lot more like a coherent project.

Are there any deep and spectacular RT blobbers with real rpg elements out there?

RT blobber? Not for me. If it was TB, though I'd consider backing it.

nah she used the hunger games fan art. see how the arm floats in the air where keira's hair was?
the hair is also very similar to the hunger games one.

Now that you mention it, the torso (boobs) also has a strange front perspective in the fan art, instead of being almost sideways. You're probably right.

Anyway, it could be a nice game if he doesn't place the focus in the combat and makes a good mix of exploration/puzzles/dialog. I enjoyed Grimrock just as a puzzle, exploration game, realtime blob combat is not for me.
