AO rating in North America. Which basically means they might as well put explicit rape in the game.
It is, along with other games like Criminal Girls and RapeLay, which is really weird, considering Criminal Girls is just rated M, no nudity and the BSDM-related scenes were censored.BTW. wouldn't be surprised if that game was forbidden on neoFAG...

I really hope Hatred is sold somewhere, if not on Steam. It actually looks fun, if it's not overpriced. I'm not trying to be cool or anything, but a grim twin-stick shooter in a modern setting with that art style actually seems interesting, and I honestly believe that art in any form should not be limited to what a NeoGaf moderator or Polygon editor thinks is right. It looks original and even if turns out to be terrible, at least people should have the chance to comment on its gameplay and not freak out about how it treats women bad, makes fat Tumblr gamr grills feel insecure or stuff like that.
At this point coming to steam or not it doesn't matter. Game has more publicity than all indie games combined.
I don't know, man... there's a pretty big number of people who would not buy something out of Steam. Maybe because installing a game is too hard for them, or because they can't show that they are playing the game to their friends... Steam at this point is a social hub for people who would love to ironically play it and spout memes about it. If it's not on Steam, about 90% of people who would play it just won't buy it because Steam is that big. They can set up their own site for people to buy it.

I think there are no AO games on Steam at all. They also ban games with sex, like eroges, and they don't even allow nudity mods. So, does getting an AO rating automatically mean it's not going to go on Steam or will it be released there anyway? It has been greenlit and Valve decided that it doesn't violate their terms of content, so I don't see the problem? And it's not like ratings are the same in every country, Europe and Russia don't use the ERSB ratings anyway.
Not that I give a fuck about shitty Steam, I'd rather have this on GOG.
GOG may in fact be more restrictive than Steam nowadays.
Couldn't they just refuse the rating and try it with PEGI or something? Games that by all rights probably would've been given an AO rating have made it om steam anyways, like The Void (which features frequent full-frontal female nudity) and Lucius (where you play a demon posessed child who has to murder his whole family).
Oh yes, I understand that (to be honest, they were delusional if they thought this game'd get a console/retail release), I'm just asking whether or not the AO rating'd really hamstring a steam release as badly as people are saying it would.PEGI is EU board and devs probably sent it to ESRB because they wanted retail release or console release.
As far as devs they are cool with AO rating though they are bit surprised because most of the time AO rating is for more or less porn.
Difference between PEGI and ESRB is that in US most of companies like walmart don't stock AO games (same policy has for example Apple)
PEGI is europen based rating board and in EU no one gives a fuck about what rating game gets.
Because it's black and white Postal? Why do I have the feeling after all of this the game will be mediocre at best?
