Remind me how the stinking peace deals work? I'm on an ironman Poland game, normal difficulty, non-historical. Trying to make it so that Germany doesn't DOW me, I ceded Danzig. But the Soviets declared war instead in 1939. Prior to that, I upgraded all my existing infantry divisions to have 2 Artillery and Supporting Artillery. Not sure what, but the Soviets just kept losing to those divisions and instead of steamrolling me, my divisions steamrolled them. Fast forward, 2 years down, the Soviets Union had lost all their core cities, Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad and on the verge of surrender:
99% towards surrender. As you can see, I'm the only one in the war on my side and i did all the fighting:
Finally, was very happy. Thinking I could get the SU's resources and manpower whilst still staying neutral without Germany's dow. That will make for a darn interesting game.
About to take a screenshot of the huge "Russian" Poland all in glorious pink when less than one second after unpausing the game:
I didn't even get to take the screenshot... Now I'm back to where I was without Danzig. Didn't get to make any peace demands, there were no peace deal screens or negotiations. How fair is that? It's on Ironman so I can't reload and find out why. Don't feel like continuing with the game, probably just beeline to the rocket tech as Poland achievement.
That's a lie. I get most of the non-colonial France as Nova Roman Italy by taking Paris, when Germany stuck at Maginot. They only get states they occupied in the war and there was no Vichy.Probably a hard-coded surrender event for Soviets where you get nothing if you aren't Germany or in a faction or w/e. Was Germany at war with the Soviets? Same thing happens in France, if France is at war with Germany and Paris gets occupied by anyone, Germany annexes all of France and releases Vichy, taking all the land you conquered.
Italy is the exception to the fall of France event. If you were unaligned and/or any other country Germany would probably take everything you had. Think Vichy itself is somewhat random, I've seen it simply not happen some times.
I know its possible for events to screw you because it happened in my neutral luxembourg game when Germany had done nothing useful but suicide into the Maginot while I was partying in Paris. Haven't taken a look at the exact event triggers and possibilities, but if a war ends without a peace screen showing up you probably got screwed by the scripted events.
Also it may not be a bug and Germany could be the one who captured Paris in your case by mixing some fast armor divisions with your troops, because of how military access worked prior new patch. They stole couple of states that way in my campaign (as my own armor was stuck in China as volontiers even after Japan victory and I fought only with slow infantry).Italy is the exception to the fall of France event. Have you looked up the surrender event for the Soviets?

I did, however, managed to get a democratic coup to rebel in east Russia
That would make things only more boring. HOI4 is relatively simple game. Making things less random would only increase tediousness.Looks like 1.1 will fix some of the issues the AI has with the division designer. Infantry divisions are now mostly the 7INF + 2ART cookie-cutter.

You continued you save or started new game? Because patch stated that USA will not spawn garrisons anymoreThe 1.1 beta patch actually hilariously broke the game even further. Germany abandoning all western fronts randomly and is conquered by 5 Denmark divisions; AI US entering the war in 38/39. Also the AI is still spamming garbage tier garrison templates so yeah pretty much unplayable and doubt all this shit gets fixed in week.

AI needs garrison to prevent being overrun easily. So they are not real problem, and artillery IS expensive (when you have 120 artillery brigades). It seems in the beta patch the AI will actually downgrade reasonably made templates into garrison turds. Shit is fucked.
The only historical example I can think of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussia#Duchy_of_PrussiaTaking a one province minor to world conquest over the course of centuries?
What's most annoying is how the game is not designed with plausible alternate history in mind (because that would involve research), but exactly with the aim to promote retarded shit. I wanted to play an alternate history where I attack Germany after they occupy the Rhineland. The Diplomacy window says there is no valid reason for declaring war on them?! WTF, they just broke the Versailles treaty, the very fucking event's description said that they broke the Versailles treaty, what more reason do I need you fucktards? But hey, conquering the USSR as Finland is fine, alternate history, uh-uh, much fun. Dickheads.Pass the pretzels and click the Invade Button!
I'd say Darkest Hour was the last HoI game worth playing, and that's because it's a mod released as a separate game, and realistic OOBs are recreated. It would have been nice to be able to buy them on GOG but as far as I know, Paradox' games are Steam-exclusive. That's how they vendor-lock you (as best they can) into using Steam for mods, just like they try to lock people to only discuss their games on their own forum.Hearts of Iron 3 vs Darkest Hour, which is better and why? Gonna pick one of them on GOG sale.
Yeah, just look at how they patched EU4 to be an actual game about Europe in the modern period. The base game is utter shit, please buy $100 worth of DLCs to have it be shit with extra mechanics and random events.Any chance that Paradox will patch this to be an actual WW2 game before 2017? Or will they never do it and modders have to step in?

and AI France shouldn't pick it in historical focus.Paradox said:It was stupid for France not to do it in real life and it would be no brainer decision for player otherwise.
Darkest Hour has been available on GOG for a few months now, same for HoI3.
