Sometimes, it's nice to remember why I don't pay for games.
Oh fuck, I did pay for Primordia
oh no rpg codex ? ! ?
That was a very expensive coffee, then, given the price the game was when converted to my huehue money.coffee
Hibernaculum Character Generator Update
Greetings, Hibernians!
While still firmly a work in progress - we are today extremely proud to announce our shiny new Character Generator is now working and implemented. These numbers and mechanics stay ''under the hood'' during gameplay in Hibernaculum for the most part - and while premade characters are essentially also available - there is much customization and alteration/polish that can be performed on a player character build before starting out aboard Ship in Hibernaculum.
In fact, this is recommended for a fully complete experience in Hibernaculum, and of course also gives your character more of a fighting chance of reaching down into the farthest depths of the Ship.
The Character Generator breaks down into 3 specific sections with the more outward aspects of your character on the left panel, their belongings and physicality represented by the center panel, and skills and statistics generally listed on the right hand side panel.
Working your way across a thorough character build is also a good way to familiarize yourself (or at the very least touch upon) some of the everyday intricacies of the Ship & it's varying inhabitants via the various starting biographies & other more subtle cues.
Short biographies are provided as a starting point for understanding your character's role aboard Ship, & are also specific to both BODY and CLASS.
The main SCILD stats (Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Luckiness, Dexterity) are adjusted depending upon which BODY is chosen - a very high SCILD stat results in other aspects of a character build being altered such as higher health/hit point total for characters with a higher constitution.
SCILD stats are adjusted in real time (note that flash messages are attached for programming purposes currently)
Facial features for each BODY type & associated portrait are customizable, as well as featuring a randomization option for the portrait alone.
Each BODY type has many thousands of possible combinations.
So, with that (somewhat mildly overdue) Character Generator update out of the way - it's time for us to continue to take some of these characters through the game engine and observe what results from that. The more meat & potatoes side of the game, so to speak. So far the results are incredibly promising though as usual feel free to stay tuned & up to date with the progress on our Hibernaculum backer-only Discord, Youtube channel as well as continued (and hopefully more expansive) regular updates on Twitter as the year progresses.
As you all know we are a very small independent team & your patience and support is valued above all else by everyone on board the Hibernaculum team.
Be seeing you

Looking like an easy buy for me
LOOKS like but Idk about gameplay. The art is great.
Sad to read about that. Primordia was a great experience though. I'm fairly certain we're many out there who feel grateful for it.before I started Primordia (which in hindsight was begun as a way of dealing with my grief over that loss)
Ye gotta be careful with these "style over substance" games
There needs to be thread for Hiber & my work that collects ONLY comments that will age absolutely terribly.

me and scorn definitely. if it wasn't...whatever they made and just made a skyrim ripoff in that world, it'd be my favorite game ever. since the devs last game was a point-and-click i am dubious until i see some long form gameplay without someone giving commentary so we can see how the game works.
Do we at least know if this is real time or turn based? Surely at least gameplay fundamentals like that have been agreed?
It's a simple game, reminiscent of titles like Elvira or Waxwork if you remember those from the Amiga 500 era. Of course, it makes sense for it to be real-time as the combat is simplistic; it's all about the atmosphere and puzzles. Asking for it to be turn-based is the usual retardation you can see around here, from hypocrites who don't play either genre in any case.Do we at least know if this is real time or turn based? IIRC they said it was real-time earlier in the thread, to which a lot of codexers got reallybutthurtangry over, but that was a long time ago.
Eh, it is a bit different from that. I understand that people like turn-based over real-time, because in turn-based you can go at your own pace. That said, the game will be in real-time for two reasons: the games that inspired it were in real-time and it would be easy to abuse a turn-based system to keep moving away from enemies, undermining the danger that comes with encountering them. It's a simple game, reminiscent of titles like Elvira or Waxwork if you remember those from the Amiga 500 era. I don't remember reading anything political in Primordia, so there's no reason to believe there's any agenda here either. What I remember was an adventure reminiscent of the 90s, and well worth playing. I'm okay with everything as long as nothing is forced and there's no moralization of the customers. The Twitter profile is concerning, but not proof of anything. I really don't care if a game dev loves faggots or hates them. I care if he sows LGBT propaganda into his product or not.
Putting tranny or gender theory bullshit is where I draw the line and I don't see evidence of that here.
The only exceptions I make are when devs repeatedly shill propaganda to their customers, or when one of them turns out to be a pedo. But again, I'm not seeing evidence of that here.
Then again, I didn't see evidence of that with BG3 either. Never preordering again lol.
Quick lighthearted unveil video for our newly implemented character generator - which rapidly then descends into lame pop culture reference and general irreverence.
Apologies for the video de-syncing not sure how that happened exactly but it will be sorted for next time but for now - enjoy!
