5 on Steam, 4 on GoG. I use wishlists to remind me that a game exists when it comes out, and I'm probably not going to buy half of them anyway. The only exception that I have now is Rouge Trader on the GoG wishlist, I'm waiting until it's actually finished the ultimate edition and 80% off.

Roughly half of them are still in development.
What's the point of having hundreds of games wishlisted? Doesn't it become meaningless? How do you even keep track of everything?

my steam wishlist is not exactly a "wish list": anything i hear about i deem interesting goes there, there're too many shit releases to keep track and check them all. since fatgirl took some days (now it might take months, like for starcom, out in september, repacked in february) every time i browsed new releases i cross checked anything which caught my eye. if it's below 90% it's probably shit and it's going to wait there for months or years before i try it. if it's below 80% it's indeed shit and gets deleted instantly. if it's over 90% it's still probably shit but with some redeemable qualities.
93 items now, i severely trimmed it some months ago, when it was around 130 and there was stuff in there waiting for longer than a decade.

A couple hundred. Pretty much anytime a Codexer praises a game, I'll toss it on the wishlist just so I don't lose track of it. But I've also severely pared down on my buying habits. I have so many games now that buying more feels wasteful. Big sales are a trap. I'd rather pay full price for something that I have imminent plans to play than pay -90% off for dozens of games that I never get around to. I even pass on giveaways more often than not. Don't need the clutter.

That last position is doubly vindicated now, after the news that Veilguard has become a freebie for console proles. Think of the chilling implications. If you aren't constantly vigilant, someone might slip a dose of digital AIDS to you in the guise of a free game. Stay safe out there, guys.

I stopped "wishlisting" not yet existing games many years ago. Games takes so long to be developed that when (if) they finally are published, I forgot completely about them and maybe I am not interested any more. Also, even if they are published and I am still interested to play them, I tend to wait one-two years to avoid the bugs and to play a more complete game. I really don't care to acquire games as soon as they are available.

Maybe it makes more sense to have a "wishlist" for existing games that I aready own in my backlog, to filter/organize what to check next.

That's why I use it, to keep track of things I have found so I don't forget them

When you reach the length of my library and wishlist, you end up buying games you really want to play but then you forget about them anyway because you have a thousand other games you also want to play, and then after a year you scroll through your library and are pleasantly surprised to find a cool game you totally forgot existed!
