Yeah that can get annoying sometimes, specially with "SuperHal 9000 Radiant Quests" that change everytime, if you don't know the name of places (like the different bandit camps and forts) you're pretty much fucked.
My advice, just kill the goddam degenerate Jarl and be done with it.

This mod promises to rewrite all quest entries to include in-character directions, in cases where it makes sense to have them.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32695/?

Has anyone tried it? Do you think it'd work fine with Requiem? I can't imagine why it wouldn't, I have no quest mods active and I'd load it before Requiem.

One of the best mods for Skyrim, an absolute must-have. If you install it with Mod Organizer, you should get an option to install a Requiem patch along with it.

iHud works well with Requiem, I use it. I have it set to hide compass at all times, and only show HP/MP/ST bars when they are less than 100% and buffs/debuffs are shown only when applied or about to run out.

Also, spriggans are motherfuckers. Is there a trick on killing them? I've tried burning them while my ghost wolf munches on them but even the weakest version takes ages.

Hell, don't ask me, even at level 15 killing a troll is a roll of the dice and vampires and werewolves are 100% impossible. Might have to learn enchanting/smithing to make some decent fire weapon.

I am not sure why I'd need those iHud mods when I already had all my compass/markers deactivated from the start.

One thing that annoys me is the character creation. It's shit. I can't select any skills. How casual can you get? It's ridiculous. What's the point of restarting the game with a new character if, other than race adjustment, he starts from the same mold? Sheesh.

I think he's talking about vanilla. The 3 starting perks are a Requiem feature. Vanilla only gives you the one you get from achieving level 2 after escaping Helgen.

Character Creation Overhaul + Live Another Life should make for faster and more interesting beginnings.

I'm coming back to Skyrim. I'm trying out this Requiem thing. Sucks that 1.9 came out and like everything was removed like Requiem-Hard Times. This shit took me all fucking day to set-up. I got this weird error about USKP and UDGP not having masters or something. It was a while before I found out that you have to get a new patcher from the website.

I also have to do without adding any new followers as none of them are patched.

I'll give them a spin for my next character, if I have that much patience. My current character is a khaajit thief/assassin werewolf, so I wanted to at least also try a vampire melee lord kind of guy and a plain old mage.

Fucking hell Requiem is hard as nails. It took me all fucking morning just to get through the fucking tutorial. Oh, I also had to disable it to get through the part before I get my bonds cut-off. My game kept on freezing and shit because Requiem started too early (before I get into the keep).

Anyways, I got stuck in the part where you face all those soldiers and archers. Before I figured how tough that battle was, the group of soldiers in the torture chambers all died. I had to do it with only Ralof and myself. After dying about 20 times without getting a single hit in, I decided to restart and do small saves.

Well, it worked and I had 2 soldiers to aid me and Ralof. Still, that shit took me several tries. I equate it to small unit tactics. It's all about initiative and keeping it. I once killed about 3 guards very quickly only to be slaughtered by the two remaining gaurds. The only way you can get it back is by guzzling down potions and hoping for the best. You start really looking at it like a fucking battle: flanking and keeping your distance from the enemy attacks is pretty much essential or else you are wasting stamina.

I've never felt a feeling of satisfaction and achievement just by beating a fucking tutorial. Requiem is pretty fucking badass, but I'm fearing how tough it's going to get after I leave Helgen.

I suggest you only fight single bandits and wolves for now, or just do quests or crafting. Also draugr feel epic and I only finished the first Companions quest by gaming the system (and shield-bashing tombs to wake them up one by one)

In before Bleak Falls Barrow.

What are two things that work well against wood?
  • Fire
  • Axes
Woodcutter axe might be more effective, Woodsman's Friend found in the open near Helgen and Riverwood (unique but low-end, looks like iron battleaxe) seems to be more effective as well, but I haven't tested it thoroughly. Nettlebane might work as well.
In general a lot of difficulty in Requiem is using the right tool for the job. It won't let you murder dragonpriests at lvl 1 but it can easily make up for 10-15lvl of difference.
Most challenges are build sensitive as well, for example:
Hell, don't ask me, even at level 15 killing a troll is a roll of the dice and vampires and werewolves are 100% impossible.
Trolls fall easily If you can apply massive damage in single stroke as long as you can bring them down before getting winded. Fire enchantment is obviously good, and I imagine 1h weapon with a fire source in the offhand (torch or spell) just to keep the regeneration down (so not using the fire for damage, just enough to keep the troll burning to conserve magicka) is going to be effective as well. Vampires and werewolves are indeed scary (in small part due to health bars not accounting for buffs), but I managed to off a werewolf at around lvl8 recently (with followers, obviously) and I have just cheesed Bloodlet Throne below lvl 10 yesterday, with ROTE and Combat Evolved added as well and without right protective gear:
I was doing an Interesting NPCs quest with Zora and that annoying old hag and have diverted Farkas en-route to the Companions initiation quest as well making it a 4 member party, first it was hard but mostly boiled down to assisting my MBTs with healing, fire, summoned distractions and occasional 2h chop in between particularly nasty fangs (the idea was to keep the party up at all cost while also avoiding doing anything that would draw in the vampires from the rest of the dungeon all at once), then it got ridiculous but I managed to draw one particularly powerful vampire into a previously cleared area littered with dead vamps and a gargoyle and bombed it with Ritual Stone power, then after the vamp has finally keeled over, I used my small raised army to storm the final area while taking cover from icy whirlwinds. It still took a ton of reloads.

Well, now I am level 23. I discovered the magic of training + pickpocket. My pickpocket went from 15 to 80 in 20 minutes or less. Whew! I don't even feel bad.

Does Requiem improve the Poacher's Axe (+ damage against animals) found in Halted Stream camp? (the one with the transmute-iron-to-gold spellbook) That thing would be perfect against spriggans and their furry friends.

In vanilla you can disenchant it and apply on other weapons but it's more of a novelty than anything.

It looks like an unassuming woodcutter axe and one of the bandits usually picks it up during the commotion, it's kind of easy to miss. I dunno if they'd bother removing it since it's kinda mediocre with +3 damage to animals only (not monsters), but unlike the Woodsman's Friend it can be upgraded on a grindstone and can also be used to gather wood. The enchantment on the original weapon also never runs out so early on it could be helpful since it should hit ghosts and other things immune to regular iron weapons. Paired with a torch, it could be a fun setup for a more "realistic" hunter-type character.

Mmm revisiting Requiem and found it mostly the same. It's not bad, but if I take it easy, I usually get one-shotted by archers again. Don't even talk about melee staggers since I went on Breton Conjurer with shitty Summon Swarm spell and Ghost Wolf.

1. Marksmanship, this time with crossbow is even more powerful and essential. Most bandits carry one. And will usually one-shot me. This is why Summon Wolf is spammed, one bite and the bows break, they pull out an iron dagger, which is not that hard to beat with Bound Sword.
2. Tried going full mage for 8 levels before giving up and just picking up archery for damage and conjuration for meat shield. All that magicka invested just means Conjure spam and eventual dual summoning perk. After meeting a Flame Atronarch outside Dawnstar, I want one.
3. I can abuse alchemy, as usual. Not even hard, just tedious. Either I head out there, pick herbs, or visit shops and spam Spellflux (Garlic + Salt) since the mana regeneration is important.
4. Actually, fuck 3, I rather just pickpocket all the potions off guards with thief boots on and 2 perk point investment. At 80% chance it's the cheapest way of picking up Crossbow Bolts, Healing and Stamina potions at low cost while making cash off rings/gems. I must've amassed like 3000 gold in Riften and blew it all on Marksmanship training to speed things up. More importantly, added carry capacity at 25 Pickpocketing is probably worth it.
5. I found out that the alcohol drunk visual effect can be cancelled if you consume a poisonous substance like Nightshade. Very convenient when I pull a mammoth to Whiterun's gates with crossbow and I need the stamina regeneration. This is good money, and good marksmanship training. +60 Stam boots off Dark Brotherhood is pretty much essential. That's like 12 levels worth of stamina boost!
6. I think I'm ready for Thieves Guild run tonight.

I'm playing a pure mage and it's quite possible. I thought about usings bows but the stamina drain and inaccuracy make them worthless.
