And it's all because they erroneously believe that the game can be 'fixed' somehow. It can't. Accept it.
How about you "accept" that I've already had fun with it, as I stated multiple times?
Unlike you I got nothing to prove.
I don't care that I "shouldn't" have fun because it's just a mod. If I had this fun with vanilla, I'd play vanilla. Admittedly, that wasn't the case.
But Requiem is fun. To me at least, when the mood is right for that kind of thing.
You, you just play what you want, it's no issue for me.

You will never make it Dark Souls no matter how many monsters and NPCs you turn into HP sponges. You can barely make it something resembling Daggerfall, if Daggerfall had worse writing and more boring gameplay.
Hold up though, we already have Dark Souls and Daggerfall, why would you want to make Skyrim more of the same?

Never said you should. I was arguing against it. Point is, there are plenty of mods like Requiem that try to make it a different game. They don't work because you can never replace its crappy core.

My point in posting this isn't even to hate on Requiem, but to save people time. I was responding to a poster that mentioned the long modlists people had and how they spent more time finding them and setting them up than playing the game.

No reason to go overboard with a long ass mod list. You can get a decent amount of enjoyment from 10 or so core mods and then try things out later if you want. Just know that you will never be able to fix it. At the end of the day, it's still Skyrim. Get your 'good for what it is' enjoyment without wasting time and harddrive space, or at least see if you can enjoy it at all with a smaller modlist before going for broke.

Myself, I think I've gotten all the enjoyment I can out of it. I sometimes think about trying it again when I hear about new graphics updates and whatnot, but I never get much further than checking this thread to see if there are any good mods and getting vomited on by the handful of Requiem spergs that cry every time I mention I don't like their precious mod.

Anyway, this is my "final", "base" Requiem 5.02 list.
With notes.
Also takes install order into account where necessary (while loading order is left to LOOT).
Everything here works with the latest Skyrim executable. Or at the very least, it won't crash it.

This is for a modest rig, so no ENB, Dyndolod or similar stuff.
But it looks great enough, for me, on high presets with a few tweaks.

-> Address Library for SKSE Plugins
-> JContainers SE
-> SSE Engine Fixes
-> powerofthree's Tweaks
-> Skyrim Skill Uncapper(fixed)
partial port, basic features of the old mod
-> SSE Display Tweaks
-> USSEP
-> Assorted mesh fixes
Dyndolod component removed
-> Fixed body collision
-> No Silly Physics Damage...
-> Audio Overhaul Skyrim
add Obsidian Weathers patch after it later in the list
-> Weapons Armor Clothing Clutter Fixes consider adding (slightly outdated) QUASIPC Patches
-> Complete Crafting Overhaul add Requiem Patch later and apply MCM settings (see Patch description)
-> Enchanting Adjustments and... if it conflicts with Requiem might use only the Bug Fix portion
-> Modern Brawl Bug Fix should work
-> Modern Toggle Walk-Run Fix SE
-> Mfg Fix probably makes Player Eyes Blink Fix redundant...
-> Wiseman303's Flora Fixes Revamped
-> Cutting Room Floor - SSE add RS Children patch after it later in the list
-> Lore-Based Loading Screens SE
-> Sovngarde - A Nordic Font
-> A Quality World Map

-> SkyUI and patch
-> RaceMenu AE
-> Yes Im Sure
-> Better Dialogue Controls

-> Better MessageBox Controls redundant with Dear Diary
-> FixNotesForSkyUI
-> Campfire
-> Frostfall
-> Campf. and Frostf. Unoff. SSE Update
check also Frostfall Campfire SSE Fix
-> Dear Diary
-> Better SkyUI Config Smart sorting
-> SunHelm Survival and needs
skip cold and campfire stuff, disable weight System with Requiem
-> PapyrusUtil AE - SUF install after Campfire and other stuff that rebundles it
-> Realistic Ragdolls and Force SE
-> Player Headtracking SE should work
-> Player Eyes Blink Fix
-> Footprints
SE version
-> Better Jumping SE
-> Smelters for Riften and Solitude
should work
-> Immersive Fallen Trees with patch
-> Get Snowy remove W&C patch
-> Obsidian Weathers
-> Relighting Skyrim
-> Enhanced Lighting for ENB
-> Protect Your People
-> Female Vampires have fangs
-> Alternate Start
-> New Beginnings
-> The Choice is Yours
with CFR Patch
-> Paarthurnax - Quest Expansion
-> Innocence Lost Alternative
must be loaded after The Choice is Yours
-> Simple Horse
-> Realistic Conversations
-> Guard Dialogue Overhaul SE
-> Relationship Dialogue Overhaul SE
should still work with the Update patch
-> Serana Dialog Edit Skyrim Special Edition
-> Misc Dialogue Edits
-> More Dialogue Options
-> More To Say

-> AI Overhaul patch for CRF outdated. Probably good enough without it...
-> INIGO
-> Windyridge P. home in Winterhold minor (?) conflict with Flora Overhaul
-> VioLens
-> RS Children Overhaul

-> Realistic RS Children Overhaul with required textures
-> Realistic Elven Children with required textures, probably the same as the above
-> New Thinner Torch from Oldrim! Appears to be working
-> Ultimate HD Fire Effects SSE
-> SkyFalls and SkyMills from Oldrim! Appears to be working
-> Static Mesh Improvement Mod SMIM SMIM Flora fixes patch goes after this.
-> Unofficial Material Fix
-> Superior Lore Friendly Hair
from Oldrim! Appears to be working
-> Noble Skyrim and patches
-> Skyrim Textures Redone - ENS using all 1k options for now
-> Skyrim Flora Overhaul
-> Pure Waters
-> Glowing Ore Veins
-> Requiem

-> Requiem patches:
CCOR, WACCF, Dragonbor, VioLens, Audio Overhaul, CRF, Campfire, Frostfall, WM Flora, RS Children, AI Overhaul, INIGO
some patches are for Requiem 4, but 5 is mostly a technical update, they should work and the game does start

-> Skyrim Unlocked SSE
maybe not hosted on nexus? but I managed to find it

Other minor stuff (animation, tweaks) might probably be added later.
Might also add Flying Crows SSE and Seagulls of Skyrim .
I'm torn about Interesing NPCs and Citizens of Tamriel. They're hit and miss, OTOH new life in the world is always welcome.
Might also try the Populate series.
I'll miss Sneaky Serana from Oldrim. Couldn't find a replacement for that.

anyone try out wildlander https://youtu.be/Teb2qGFaprc

Do any of the 500 mods on top of requiem add anything worth?
Yup

I would still wait a month or two for some bugfix patches to come out though
Wildlander is a base requiem with well integrated sim and survival elements (as well as they can be anyways). But to me the biggest selling point of the list is that it has really good visuals, while being quite performant (it also comes 4 different quality presets). And it is very conservative stylistically imo. Which is a rare quality with modlists.
Just like in ultimate skyrim, I am not a fan of the economy because 'trade and barter' and 'trade routes' are set so you can larp a travelling merchant, which in turn destroys the economy for more traditional gameplay by adding tons of gold to merchants. A lot of it is tweakeable in MCM - I usually make a quick patch that basically cancels out all of the gold additions and only leaving the regional/personal price variations.

If you just wanted no nonsense vanilla requiem and don't care for visuals, then no, it doesn't add anything.

Well in the end I went for DynDOLOD too.
Felt intimidating but it's really just a couple of things to understand, then it's all a matter of letting the PC run and create the new libraries.

I tried immediately with the lowest setting, launched the game again when I was finally done, and it's amazing.
It's not a matter of graphics, really, it's honestly all about immersion.
I didn't notice the usual things pop-up out of nothing in the distance any longer.
Tried for just 2-3 minutes but I'm impressed.

So, this means the SkyFalls mod can be removed.
And I'll be able to add Immersive College.

I know nobody cares but perhaps someone will again, sometime.
I've finalized the list (had to add and adjust a few things). I can give hints if anyone wants to try a similar set-up.

Anyway I finally fired began a new game and it feels great.
I have the alternate start mod too but I went for the default beginning since frankly, I like it.
And ouch, I forgot that you don't auto-regenerate in Requiem....

-> Skyrim Unlocked SSE
maybe not hosted on nexus? but I managed to find it
-> FNIS and DynDOLOD stuff

Depending on your character build, you might also consider:

- Simple Drop Lit Torches SE Preferred implementation. Might have issues with Relighting Skyrim. Appears to be working for me
- Non Exploitable Crossbow Reload SE untested yet but it *should* work with Requiem V. 5
- Borgut1337's Dual Wield Parrying Non-SKSE Random Attacks still the cleanest and best solution for this, imho

The list lacks something about the Civil War. This is simply because I've never played it and wouldn't know what to suggest.

If you need with a specific item just ask.
Some have been trickier than others....

Thanks for the detailed list, I appreciate the time you have taken to share your mod experiences

Do you use any mods around better dragons or more lore friendly monsters ? I always enhance my Elder Scroll games by adding a variety of more monsters

Well, I did tinker with it a few years back, but eventually settled for just Requiem.
I realized you start craving for more monsters when the usual ones have nothing more to tell.
But with Requiem it's different, I mean Vampires for instance are really fearsome and you'll run in panic when you see one, unless, well, unless you're actually strong enough to face them.
Sure a bit more variety wouldn't hurt, but I don't want to risk ruining the functional toy I have with Requiem.
I've never had coherent results with monster mods. Either they were too many, or too over the place, or they made something else feel trivial (like that once when with High Level Enemies installed, IIRC, when I found myself encountering a shouting high level Daugr every other dungeon room. After a while it just felt stupid).

But honestly I just didn't tinker with it enough to say something truly reliable: it's possible that there are mods out there that complement Requiem nicely even for this aspect.

I did play with Deadly Dragons, back then. I guess perhaps this one might get a pass, since it was fun (assuming it's been ported and made more stable), but it would compound with the adjustments to dragons already made by Requiem.

Added a note that with the above build the CC content is assumed to have been removed.
Which I physically did by removing the files from the game directory.
