Codex has always been about conflict: Baldur's Gate vs Arcanum for those of you old enough to remember the Terra Arcanum days, Morrowind vs Gothic, Crispy vs Scruffy...

But that was the old days, back when we cared about good games. These days, the time has come to square off for the new classics:

They are both full of ESG checkbox design but at least Baldo's Gate has TB combat that didn't turn out as awful as DoS2. The abomination of 'RPG shooter' mechanics Bethesda has tacked on hasn't improved, in fact it has only gotten worse with cottonfield.

BG3 blows Starfield away in every department, except for maybe the overall theme and aestaetics of the games, but thats super highly subjective so yea.. (I like Sci-Fi, ALOT more than fantasy)

Unironically this. No BS, fun times, game respects your time, runs great, replayable.

BG3 is actually worth playing while waiting for the RPG of the year, Colony Ship.

Didn't play Toddfield yet. Not sure if I will.
From what I've seen it seems rather hard to argue for Cottonfield, unless you just dig this type of SF a lot.
On the other hand, Baldur's Gate 3 really does explore new dimensions of cringe and confused shitty main story. Maybe Toddfield can win here by being (I assume) bland and forgettable?

BG3 is party- and turn-based.
Starfield has a sf setting, more interesting than your typical, lame fantasy.

Colony Ship combining those features might just hit the sweet spot
