Got to level 50 on the gauntlet for the gauntlet diamond badge, which is a brutally hard challenge (even though enemies don't respawn).
This week's seed was pretty blessed, but it still took around ten attempts I think (and every decent attempt takes several hours minimum). Very lucky with necrotic armor, ravager's heart, early good shotguns, a blast helmet, and an adrenaline boost from a mk3 med terminal! Pretty much perfect gear. Put plated on both the necrotic armor and the blast helmet to minimize chances of getting one shotted (which happens very easily in this challenge) and all AV2/3 shotguns had freezing and crit and barbed (after rerolls ofc).
Used a gunrunner who eventually maxed out almost all traits. I'm not sure how this challenge is possible without gunrunner, but I guess people seem to have done it with survivor (though the video I've seen of this on youtube uses a cheatengine, which I'm pretty sure is how most of the people who have accomplished this badge did it), and I've gotten pretty far with a gunkata scout.
I died at the precipice of defeat due to ammo starvation—the last three or so levels gave almost no ammo, so I was pretty fucked. I tried to make it work with a power saw I picked up toward the end of the run, but without ranged damage on a gunrunner it was pretty much impossible. I think I MAYBE could have won the precipice if I had been way more careful about ammo conservation 5 or 6 levels earlier, but no way am I doing that whole thing again, especially since winning the precipice isn't required for the diamond badge.
(I'm trying to post a screenshot of post mortem but keep getting an error message—anyone know what's up with that?)
Also I played the demo for Jupiter Hell Classic a bit. Looks like there will be some new classes and enemies, and there are some different special levels, but tbh it feels kinda janky at the moment. Some changes I don't like. For instance, there is no longer a sprint so far as I can tell (though I may be an idiot and am missing something obvious, but I checked the keymapping options a bunch of times). It's hard to put my finger on it, but compared to the original version of DRL, this one just has a jankier vibe. I assume that this will be fixed with more time in the oven. Also, I tried to play the console mode (the tiles are OK, but I prefer ASCII, and I can turn up the speed in console mode but not in tiles mode) and it is completely broken and unplayable due to bugs. I also hope that the console mode gets fixed, since that's definitely my preferred way to play.
