Yeah this is a very specific niche, you get players that put in token effort and move on after couple of playthroughs and lords-of-no-life who put in hundreds of hours, pushing for harder and harder challenges, with very few in-between, so catering to the hardcore crowd actually makes sense, if you are the kind of person that cares about the player-base.

I get the psychology around it, just think it sucks. I'd rather have Extremely easy>Very easy>Easy>Normal, you get my drift. I'm not the one trying to make money selling games though so it's easy for me to bitch, and I will :smug:

Just got the marksman diamond badge with a dualgunning marine. It was pretty hard and I got good RNG with TWO jovisec deagles in the rift. I was originally trying this badge by going through mimir for the prototype guns at the nanomanufacture station, but I always found that my damage would fall off at some point. So I ended up rift for the jovisec armor (which I used through the whole game) and the lucky deagles. Probably could have done it with normal jovisec .44s though, since they give more mod spots. Also, build order was extremely important.

It was sog, sog, gunslinger (at this point you can start reliably gibbing early level enemies), army surplus, army surplus (if not, I would basically always run out of .44 ammo), gunslinger, gunslinger (super important to get rid of the extra fire time when reavers are around), wizkid, wizkid (second rank for extra crit damage and crit chance on the armor), sog (goal was to get to 200% crit chance, which I think I almost did with an av3 pistol amp that gave +40% crit chance), then hellrunner/whatever.

I also sacrificed the frozen heart for +50% damage, though there were times after that when I was a little worried about health. Oh yeah, AND I got the ancient legwrap for +20% movespeed with no penalty. Crazy lucky run.

In general, I'm finding the masterless diamond badges to be the hardest ones. This is unlike DoomRL, where going masterless could be stronger in some cases than going for a master. The master traits in Jupiter Hell are just too good.

Anyway, now I have 12 diamond badges, and only need three more for the god hand rank (which I think is the final rank?). I can definitely get the CRI diamond at some point, and have been trying for shottyman (though that's pretty hard tbh). Berserker also seems doable, probably that and CRI next. NY reload seems insane, but I guess a wizard build could do it (but I hate the wizard playstyle). And gauntlet seems annoying (endless diamond was easy af though).

Sorry for spamming this thread, but just got the shottyman diamond badge! I had been trying to do it as a technician "hacker" (yuck tbh) / shotgun user, but as per usual I felt damage falling off later in the game. My goal with Nightmare runs is to eventually be able to gib pretty much anything, which usually means more crit for non-melee builds.

This time I went for scout, focusing on trying to maximize optimal range and crit chance/damage. Went Mimir for the nanomanufacture station, and got lucky with a super shotgun with calibrated 2 on it. Since MDF weapons give +1 optimal range, and with eagle eye rank 2 and auto-calibrated, I ended up having an optimal range of like 7 or 8. Early perks were all three ranks of executioner so I could more reliably destroy bots without the need for hacker, then all ranks of wizkid to get total +20 crit chance on armor, +25 crit damage from helmet, and +25 crit chance on the super shotgun. Then all ranks of sog, which meant I had a 95% crit chance and optimal range even out of my vision, and 195% crit chance if the enemy was within four tiles because of executioner. Could gib medusas no problem. Basically I had army of darkness third rank without the piercing damage, plus massive crits at close range.

This ended up being a lot easier once I gave up on the hacker route and figured out my build strategy/going to Mimir.

Now just one more badge (oh I also got the purity diamond in the time since my last post) and I'll have god hand rank. Definitely CRI diamond is doable, since I've now done a few non-standard masterless nightmare wins. Or berserker, which I've come close with before and then screwed up with a stupid move.

Got berserker diamond with a vampyre marine, my 15th diamond badge and last one I needed for the final God Hand rank.

Did tough as nails before hellrunner, which made the run easier. Found exosuit in the shadow halls, which is OP. With running, hellrunner 3, and reaver's tendon, move time was .19.

Gonna put this game down for a while now.

Check out those damage numbers.

Normally a range 1 shotgun would be a problem, but when you've been going for a sniper build and also found a shotgun amp that gives you a total optimal range of 4 and a whole bunch of crit perks... :M

I've had surprisingly much trouble to finish the Purity trial on Ultraviolence. I've been going for it for the last 2 or something weeks and only now succeeded with the ol' reliable gunrunner shotgun scout.

I wonder what the reason for this is, because in theory this should be the easiest shit ever - Beyond is a joke, there are no branches that lure you with harder levels, etc, but I'd always end up getting creamed on Io by some fatal stroke of bad luck, even with some of my most tried and tested builds like chaingun techie. Maybe the bonuses from the side branches are that strong to make all the difference.

Still, I was scared shitless this run would also crash and burn for the dumbest fucking reason that has been known to happen to the shotty scout. Ammo shortages. Just this time I decided to skip Scavenger (although ever since they increased the scoot's weapon slots to 3 it's no longer as enticing because Hoarder isn't a no-brainer anymore), and the result was I entered Gateway with a total of 36 shells for my two normal shotguns (elephant gun, auto) and 8 energy cells for the plasma.

However, with 2 plasma nades, 3 gas grenades, 15 item slots, 8 multitools and 10 medkits of various types, I knew that *all I need to do* is just survive Gateway and I'll win. In Beyond 1 I'd just pump the ammo station full of my multitools and that would secure the win for me for sure.

Fortunately, Gateway had exclusively CRI. This catapulted my ammo counts and set me on a smooth sailing course to victory. The rest of the game stood no chance. Beyond 3 had The Hunt (actually is that set to *always* have The Hunt? Because I've been getting it suspiciously often), but I actually cleared out the map before it triggered. Turns out a range 5 plasma shotty with Gunrunner 3 can instakill archmedusas from across the entire screen lmao.

Lol just reached Io on angel of reload. I didn't expect to get this far but grenadier/wizard techie can even the odds of having no reliable guns somewhat well. Also I found the infiniammo PES rifle on Callisto 3 which almost feels like cheating, especially since it also works against reavers and ravagers (I never quite got the case for the former but I'm not complaining).

Also the first purple crate I found was as soon as Callisto 2. It had an auto-calibration kit :argh:

I was very concerned how I'd go through the Cryodancer, though I had 2 plasma nades stashed just for him. Turns out that he actually refuses to target bots, so you just summon a sentry and dance around his stupid ice pillars while the sentry plonks him to death lmao. Edit: lol I forgot I have the golden gun for shits like this. I haven't even used it yet.

Well. Didn't expect this to work out on first try.

This was an absolutely hilarious build. Wizard + toxicologist is the most retarded combo I may have tried so far. Any time something pops into view, fart out a range 4 poison cloud and skip turn until there's nothing left. If it's a bot, hack it. If it's a toxic fiend/reaver, either just shoot its useless ass dead or let your bots do it.

Even made it through Dante Inferno, which of course as always was totally not worth it and only made me burn through 3/4 of my medkits and nades. The ancient gun saved my ass pretty badly afterwards because otherwise I'm sure the guardians would have raped me, especially since I downright forgot that I could just remote disable them for 1 multitool, that was superdumbbad. But instead, I could just fart in their general direction and then shoop them through the fog a million times until they died. Also imagine my surprise to find that Dante now has 4 levels. Cheated death one moment too when an exalted medusa sniped me from offscreen (it was targeting my bot) and zapped me from 84 health to 4. I would have been very pissed had I died there.

Still, I was very concerned after getting to the Harbinger, because I had blown ALL my medkits along the way, so the freebie big one was a godsend. I was hoping that my 5 golden gun bullets and 2 plasma nades (as well as an assortment of other nades) would make this a formality, but that fucker's damage gates are incredibly annoying. So in the end I just shit out 4 bots, farted in his general direction (remember to stock up on tactical burritos) and lobbed everything I had on me at him (and needing to phase kit out twice just in case). Amid all the summoned reavers, bots and all-encompassing toxic gas, the final arena turned into an absolute clusterfuck while I was just lobbing more nades at the fucker and wondering when his stupid carapaces will FINALLY give up because I think you can't actually see that in his character sheet.

And then finally when I stripped him of his armour bullshit, all I needed to do was put a 666 damage bullet in his fucking head. But he was now behind like 3 bots/reavers so I didn't have a clean shot.

So instead he choked on my farts

on nightmare that challenge is def one of the hardest, since respawned exalts don't drop weapons

Only did this challenge on UV, but bringing 3 bots with me and summoning 4 more, then sending them all forth was enough, no farting needed.

with that strategy on nightmare you'd be turning the whole map into exalts, since the bots usually don't do enough damage to gib

might work if you book it straight for the exit though

I really want to like the game but the camera just kills it for me. DoomRL was so perfect that I just look nostalgic to it

Has anyone 100%/100% the game on Nightmare? Didn't even seen possible.

I haven't but have been very close. It's definitely doable with a build that can gib early, like a tech sharpshooter or melee build if a pipe wrench or crowbar drops (or on angel of berserk). My angel of berserk nightmare run was like 99% kills I think.

Id use a move speed boosting personally (onslaught marine + running or blademaster technicaian)

First moon you will need to actually re fight respawns and time going to the exits. After your power spikes you'll be moving 3+ times per enemy move so that you finish most floors without allowing any respawns, even if you don't gib that often.

Well, 100% kills is possible on Nightmare. Check it out.

For some reason the screenshots are kinda wonky, sorry. For some reason my computer hates taking screenshots of this game. I missed one box somewhere, which is why I didn't have 100% loot (but ofc 100% loot is definitely easily doable on Nightmare). Used a Vampyre Marine, definitely one of the best classes unless you play above Nightmare difficulty.

Also recently finished the eagerness diamond badge, which is angel of impatience on nightmare, and was much harder than 100% kills tbh. It's hard because it's pretty easy to accidentally get down to a level of health where you can get one shotted. Normally that's not such a huge deal if you have a health pack in your inventory, but with this challenge you're sort of fucked at that point unless you're both very careful and fairly lucky. For the run I did a vampyre marine to help with health recovery, and got lucky with a good melee weapon in Mimir. That was another big hurdle: normally in Mimir you can reroll item perks by spending a multitool, so you can normally get a kickass AV2 machete with hunter and/or rush and/or ambush and/or frenzy on it. But with this challenge, you can't carry multitools, so only get one chance at rerolling the item perk after printing it.

Here's a screenshot of the diamond badges I have/don't have. Almost done with all of them. Mercy is probably the hardest one left that I haven't done yet.
