It's Orcish armour, and I see a resemblance.

it's what samurai armor might look like if japan had more metal in terms of design ('cept for those ridiculous pauldrons). supposedly orcish, lore wise supposedly based on aldmer armor. it might as well be akavir. you see a resemblance because both armors are plate, have horns and feature shields. but really, that's all there is to it.

aldmer not altmer. the aldmer are the oldest culture that influenced p. much everybody and akavir are the generally asiatic guys with at least one armor design based on armors worn by ashigaru (the blades armor) and katanas, so yeah, that samurai looking orcish armor in morrowind is somewhat akavir in style. then it became more mongolian in oblivion and general fantasy plate bullshit in skyrim.

Huh, it's cancelled already.

When you're in a relationship and you start to notice all the little things that are wrong with your partner, it means you've lost the love, if you ever had it. There are a lot of little things we'd like to change about our campaign, but at the heart of it all, we failed to make people fall in love with our idea the same way we love it.

For that reason, we are going to end this Kickstarter campaign immediately. We are unhappy with the way we represented the game, and are going back to the drawing board. It was a hard decision to make, but we are confident it is the right one.

Well, there is such statement in game, IIRC and Orcish armour being patterned after Akaviri would raise some questions - mainly how and why.
OTOH orcs, aldmer, Trinimac, omnomnoms etc.

It does look more than just kind of Japanese so Akavir does spring to mind after looking at it, but there is no actual indication it has anything to do with Akavir and the only akavir armors we've seen were Blades' ones in oblivion (which was a derp game) and Skyrim (which had to follow from OB).

Unfortunately, a hipster joke project like Bear Simulator will probably get funded, while the quality turn-based CRPG Subterranea will likely fail. Such is the sad world we live in.
