The Kicktraq daily chart for Expeditions: Conquistador looks kinda fishy to me. There is that 13 days period in which the pledged amounts increased massively but the number of pledgers stayed the same. There may be a reasonable and non-scammy explanation for that, but it does look weird at first sight.

That is odd, especially since there doesn't seem to be any new rewards opening up during that time. Still, an obvious scam is usually one or two 5k pledges. No one took the 5k pledge there, and the 1k and 2.5k pledges add up to only $15,000. So even if they made 9 different pledges and spread it out, it still wouldn't account for everything. I suppose it's possible they took a bunch of 1k, 2.5k, and $250 pledges and spread them all over the place, to give them a boost and not to call attention to themselves. If I was trying to pump up the game, that's what I'd do. But It's not obvious that's what happened here, unlike, say, Haunts or Jack Houston, where one pledge is 20-25% of the total.

Can we qualify Introversion's own fundraising project as a kickstarter? http://www.introversion.co.uk/prisonarchitect/
It could be lots of fun, but...
1) why are they going solo instead of KS which is already working for UK
2) why are they asking 30$ for game!!!?
3) and why did they went with that perspective and graphics instead of the more interesting Theme Hospital style (I suspect the tablets are to blame and they are using vectorial graphics)

HAHA! Yeah, there is quite the stir on some of the old Myth sites. Everybody hates that guy Renwood and OogaBooga for always being dragged down with him and now apparently also Road. The best is how they try to not let anyone on the kickstarter see the links to the hate on the forums. "Don't click those links guys, there's a lot of vulgarity."

haha some of those threads are hilarious

Today brings us "FleetCOMM : Operation Vigrior : Reloaded" ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mercenary-games/fleetcomm-operation-vigrior-reloaded ) asking for $50,000 (out of which they've got just $96 as I'm typing this). None of the "we ran out of money", "we want money for a single player pack" bullshit though. They want money for mobile, console and multiplayer. They say that the PC/Mac/Linux versions are almost done and they want to jump into mobile/console. They have already started working on iDevices and are ramping up for Android and PS3... and multiplayer, both LAN co-op and massive scale, almost MMO-like, online multiplayer. It's like they're playing decline bingo: iDevices, consoles, MMOs. I think they sorely misjudged the type of people who donated for their first campaign: PC players who don't want anything to do with iPhones (maybe with Androids, though) consoles or MMOs. Why couldn't they have waited until they release their PC version in order to have a community coalesced around their game, and then move into massive scale multiplayer and, maybe, even mobile devices and/or consoles? This way, they look like a bunch of scammers, even though, if you look closely enough, it doesn't seem like a scam and more like the tired old mainstream games jingle of "we started working on the DLC before release to keep our emplyees busy".
The allure of the mainstream for which many developers have fallen, as long that they deliver what they have promised to the first backers they are free to ask more money for other features like consoles, hopefully they wouldn't be too surprised by the failure of this campaign.

Well, this ha already become a general crowdfunding thread of sort, if the project is legit I don't see the problem in signaling them.

They already raised over $100k so obviously the price isn't deterring people. I don't like the ugly vector graphics for the people either.

These guys may know their stuff, but the artistic direction just shittyfies everything :(

tl,dr: Cthulhu Mythos meets Hello Kitty

Yeah I just saw Fargo tweeting that he is backing this. heh

I didn't find the art too RAGE INDUCING, but yeah it does follow that same shitty cartoon look shit on mobile devices.

Beta keys for Banner Saga went out today. They require the steams atm. The initial beta only seems to have a multiplayer component. So I'll have to wait until tomorrow before messing around with it.

Isn't the initial game they're making multi only with the story part to follow?

So far kickstarter contributors are pretty good at seeing through obvious bs.

Yeah, that one sounded promising, until the whole "Hello Kitty graphics comming to your iPhones"!FFS, the guy keeps talking about Age of Empires & Civilization, yet show us a almost-facebook level kind of game... :decline:

It's even weirder the fact that, being he such a die hard Cthulhu guy, decided to go with that style :(
BTW, J_C interviewed him 2 months ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gNxM3OqnZ4

Kung Fu Superstar: Become the Ultimate Martial Arts Stuntman A Molineaux' pupil want to create the ultimate martial arts simulator, so far the game looks like a Wing Chun mod for Virtua Fighter, they promise more styles for the future, aka DLCs, last but not least, for who is in this kind of things, the Wing Chun consultant was William Cheung.
