I don't think she is rich. She probably is well off but I don't think millionaires. I think she either lost her money or never made as much as others in that successful deal. It's tough to tell.

This. She may have blown through that money on all her bad get rich quick schemes, or on a quality of life she just can't afford. The latter wouldn't surprise me, considering the articles about her business that I suspect isn't doing terribly well and the Facebook photos she posted. She's a scam artist that doesn't seem to know how to do much except run scams, so even when she makes some money, it's all gone soon enough.

This is sounding more and more like the crazy tech version of Toddlers in Tiaras. Judging by everything I've read, this is entirely her mom forcing the kid to do all of this. Now she's talking about getting people in the industry to help with the game and mentor her. The kid is 9. She wanted to go on a fun summer camp, not have conference calls with Brenda Braithwrite (cough, Romero) and a bunch of other idiots.

I really feel bad for the girl in this situation. Fuck that hag of a mother. I know people that are EXACTLY like her; pulling strings and dancing around like this so they can live vicariously through them and so that their kids get all of these rewards for absolutely no reason when there are kids out there who could really use money like that.

Fuck. Just fuck this woman in her fucking face.

Yep she's been lying in all the interviews. Really all she has to do is have her daughter make the game and release it, then pocket the money. She doesn't have to spend any of it on people helping develop it. Of course if she does hire people, then they will probably end up doing all the work for the girl. What I can't understand is how Kickstarter can allow such a person to blatantly scam people. I mean they can a percentage, so if they know someone is scamming backers aren't they complicit and somewhat legally culpable?

I also actually commented and sent a few emails trying to send info that shows she's tried to scam people before, and that she's been lying in their interviews and no response from any of them. It's like they don't want anyone pointing out they are wrong.

So here's her backer only update. She's launching a website. Looking to hire industry vets like Brenda Romero, I bet. I like how she posts her daughter wants to use the money to make the best game possible instead of refunding it (obviously Mom's words). I also like how she is planning a Game Jam event for kids where she'll need corporate sponsors to fund it. More money. She's also going to have beta testers 9-11 years old for the game. Not sure what you would need a tester for in RPG maker.

Most people seem to think it's a fantastic project. Only oppress-o-misogy-rapists, such as almost the entire Codex, seem to have a problem with emotionally manipulative and ethically bankrupt scams sanctioned by Kickstarter.

And yet, it has just over $20k, and not Sarkeesian's $200k.

If it wasn't for people making a shitstorm over it, this thing would be rocketing out of control. It hit $20k almost instantly, and then has been floating/bouncing around there due to the internet pros digging up all the dirt on her.

She's getting a ton of media attention now, just that it's mostly bad attention. Still, her pledges are sloly increasing. :decline:

When I say "most people", I mean highly visible media coverage, as well as persons with prominent Internet presences (Twitters, YouTube channels, whatever) falling all over themselves in a show of support to prove how progressive and obediently feminist-trained they are.

Also, being less successful than Sarkeesian doesn't necessarily indicate that the general public has a clue why her project is bad, any more than Game A getting $200,000 and Game B getting $2,000,000 means that Game B must be objectively better than Game A.

People are dismissing it as a cynical piece of media manipulation everywhere I've seen mention of it. Your eagerness to set yourself as a lone stalwart hero standing against the world is a bit misplaced.

You obviously haven't been reading many prominent tech journalism and gaming "journalism" sites (or Forbes, come to think of it), I take it?

Not sure I can be fucked to spam a bunch of links just to defend myself against a bullshit ad hominem, though.

And it gets better and better . . .

http://theaibots.com/earlier-wilson-family-crowd-funder-sheds-yet-more-kickstarter-doubt/

Compare the voices/faces in these two (even calls the kid 'Zack'):

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/super-awesome-yosmite-mud-hostel

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/h...-video-games-hunting-for-real-treasure?c=home

It's Susan's husband using a different name, but it's still him. I don't even . . .
I'm not seeing it. They look like 2 different guys to me. Yeah the voices sound the same, but they look too different.

Grimlorn It's the same guy with a beard. He even calls the teenager in the Mud Hostel video Zack - his and Susan's son's name. It's the same kid as well - just older. Clearly she used old pictures of the boys on her Kickstarter. The Kickstarter states they are 15 and 16 (although who knows it that's true). If you watch the videos side-by-side, it's pretty clear it's the same person.

My email to Kickstarter:

PLEASE do something about Susan Wilson's project

You guys are hurting your site's reputation by allowing this farce to continue.

Just look at this! http://theaibots.com/earlier-wilson-family-crowd-funder-sheds-yet-more-kickstarter-doubt/

Where there's smoke, there's fire, Kickstarter. I've already heard of people transferring their pledges from your site to PayPal for some projects due to your lax attitude towards this abuse.

Do you remember what happened to Dan Rather? You can't outsmart the crowd. As administrators of a crowdfunding site, you should understand that more than anyone.

I think this witch hunt is going a bit far. I don't think those two are the same people at all. If you look at the hostel guy's facebook, there are a bunch of photos and the guys looks nothing like Susan Wilson's husband. Looks about 15 years younger, even if he has a similar voice.

That's strange - earlier today that Indiegogo site has the following video linked to the project, but now there's a different video. Anyway, this is what I was referring to. He clearly calls his son Zack and Zack calls him Dad. He looks like a slightly older version of the kid on the left on the Kickstarter video.

Whether it is or not, who knows? When you have a history of very dubious projects, speculation will always swirl around you.

Yeah Susan posted a new update filming her kid. So it seems somewhat legit. I'm more upset now about Kickstarter. They should have enforced their rules and also they should have notified people they didn't think it violated their TOS. Instead both Kickstarter and Susan ignored the comments and questions and that's when people started thinking it was a scam and people started investigating her.

The video sucks though. The girl doesn't talk about anything to do with creating a game. She just talks about Naruto for 10 minutes, then at the end Susan asks her daughter if she wants to thank people, and ask them for help, ideas and stuff to make this the greatest game ever, and she says no.

I'm going to see about trying to contact or email whoever runs customer support or in charge of who approves kickstarter projects because going through the regular channels doesn't appear to work.

like i said. A girl that age wont make a game. Nor would a boy. the scam status is complete when the kid don't even talk about wanting to make a game, since kids often can believe they want to do something like that. But a kid wanting to do something will not mean they will put any kind of work or commitement into it, unless the parents force them.
