Game connects to 6 IPs upon starting a singleplayer campaign, I'd recommend blocking the application from accessing the internet unless you plan on playing multiplayer.
Probably nothing malicious, the 120 gb size already shows they have some tech issues
agreed it's probably not malicious, I just don't like applications connecting to the internet when they don't have to.
Probably analytics or something
gib review rusty, I'm still on the fence on whether or not to play this
Having fun so far.

The game uses an insane amount of vram on any setting though. I had to manually extract all the textures and resized all the 8k/4k ones down to 2k.

also there's a lot of choices to make, seems to heavily impact who stays with you and stuff

It's more binary than that but still pretty impactful as far as morality systems normally go. Basically you have two morality systems: gud vs baed and HOLY JESUS vs Cthulhu. Down the line these unlock character missions (so those characters are exclusive to the alignment) and perks.

So you can be:

good cthulhu

baed cthulhu

good christian

evul christian

I'm pretty impressed with the different unlocks though.

reduced the game's directory size from 120gb to 34gb after reencoding the textures, reducing the ridiculous sized ones, and using transparent compression(because they should be capable of using a fucking zip file for their assets), still half the size uncompressed though

perception finds chests/hidden objects that won't appear without it fyi
playing on very hard + roguelite mode, some missions are pretty damn hard.

I'm interested in this game, but at the same price tag as kotc2? Thats just absurd, lol. Seriously, though, this installation size is stupid, I'll wait until they fix that.

They can fix that sort of thing?.
I <fabulously optimistic> hope so.

Yeah, I mean rusty_shackleford fixed it, but that's a competent Codexer. You can't always expect this sort of thing from professionals being paid a wage.

so far this probably has one of the better wound/hurt/resting mechanics in any RPG. My dudes are basically all half-dead but I don't have enough beds to even treat them due to the nearly dead and wounded dudes.

Playing on Hard + Roguelite/Ironman and liking it so far (only Level 4). Resting is probably the best part. I now see having a designated rest area with limited use and not being able to backtrack to be the best solution of resting question in RPG after KotC 2 and this game (Solasta also have the same system but way too numerous).

Gonna have a new game soon because I mismanaged my money (taking some useless building and upgrade early, resource starved later).

Not giving this the slightest chance until they significantly reduce the install size as it seems the 121GB requirement exists as a consequence of pure laziness and not because the game actually contains just so much content it requires almost an 8th of my SSD. If they can't be bothered to compress textures or optimize to any degree such that the game isn't bloated beyond belief then I also doubt they can be bothered to make a game worth playing.

It is very bland. I watched it being played. Not a hell of a lot of tactics other than stand and deliver.

Granted, it is low levels at the moment, so you aren't going to have a lot of tricks, but it seems very jRPG during combat: Attack, move, drink potion. And it seems you are always outnumbered, so expect to have your pointman getting absolutely gangbang hammered and reloading a lot, because dying permanently is a thing, apparently. Oh, and you lose armour with practically every hit, so it is not so much armour as just another HP bar (which it already has 2 of).

nuxcom's system of 2action turn and 4slot inventory (weapon+armor+accessories) is literally jrpg, this game has nothing to do with it.

binged it for a while, had a lot of fun. Very hard is exactly what it says on the tin, expect to get your ass kicked a lot. Enemies have beefed up AI and from the one map I did on both hard/very hard, encounters have a lot of extra mechanics not present in hard.

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In I helped put crap in Monomyth
i'm tempted and i can do some spring cleaning in order to make some storage space, but i'm lacking in bandwidth. i don't have a cap, but it would take me at least 12-14 hours to download this game. 120 gigabytes? c'mon

and yes, the filesize is just silly and there's no good reason for it. The texture sizes are absurd and nobody has ever explained to them the concept of compression apparently.

Interesting that there is extra mechanic. Any example?
in the same map one of the mini-boss guys called in backup mid-fight which flanked me and rekt my party
doesn't happen on hard
also one of the other fights had a lot of traps on the ground on very hard, way less on hard

This sounds great, the best kind of increased difficulty.
Going to start it on Very Hard tonight, planning to run it as "good chtulhu" as Grunker put it.

Good cthulhu certainly sounds interesting. Thinking I might do an evil jesus run
I can get the latter, if gandhi can kick ass, literally

then why not evil jesus.
What i don't get is good cthulhu. How that happened.
