Even worse, if it only works when outnumbered. With 4 characters on the field, it would only be active while there are 5+ enemies?
Oh? I thought it work per each enemy next to the character, not your total versus their total.

Not sure about it, but that makes sense, I guess.
Still it means it won't be active all the time. It's an ok option, if you don't have anything better, but I would not spend money on it.

Next question: How Loyalty works?

In the case of Dindraine this should pretty straightforward, because she only cares about Christianity (and I have +1 there), right? But when I hover over I get "Other +4". What other? It can't be from her Covenant trait, because I don't have 4 Christian knights (only Balin).

And it looks like "Ruler's Morality" takes into account both faith and (un)lawfulness when displaying the total (at least judging by Balin's and Balan's attitude). Also, Kay is Neutral, so I guess I can only sway his loyalty with titles and items?

I'm pretty sure loyalty is affected by choices you make in the actual missions you run. There's no '+1 Tyrant' displayed like in the events and I know they don't move your own alignment charts, but at various points you can choose to carry out actions that correspond to any of the 4 beliefs and it seems like the heroes with you gain or lose loyalty depending on what you do. I had a choice to 'plunder/ desecrate/ leave alone' a christian church in one mission. I desecrated it and I'm sure afterwards Balin was lower loyalty and Brunor and Morgawse were higher. I let Brunor take his revenge in his mission and he has 'Other +9' on his loyalty tab. I'd bet if I'd have stopped him that wouldn't be there.

The Loyalty mechanic isn't documented very well in game unfortunately, but it seems logical to imagine the various affinities of your heroes are affected when you make your choices.

*Edit* From the Wiki- "Some decisions are more subtle and can occur within the dialogues in your Missions. At times you will be given the option to initiate a battle or walk away. Depending on the personality of your Heroes, some may or may not appreciate a decision to spare someone's life if they are a traitor."

Any list of the Perception/Spellcraft secrets yet?

Trying to get a sense of how much I'm getting shafted by running a mission without one.

Spellcraft is just for finding out what shrines do before using them, I think? You can just save scum to find out what it is before using it.

IDK man... the fact that you can't open your damn char sheet during a mission is beyond me, how do you keep track of your gear and skill effects?

No, there's hidden Spellcraft chests in missions that give Relic dust when you open them. Perception hidden chests give 100+ Gold, Spellcraft chests give dusts. I'm on Act3 and only found one so far and always have a hero with at least one Spellcraft, two points for most of Acts 1 and 2. Not sure if they're really rare or I've missed some.

Is it common that you end up losing a small - moderate amount of vitality at the end of the early side missions on Hard?

I am noticing quite an increase of difficulty with the first lvl 4 missions (Monastery for example), and I don't think that I am fucking up too much. Losing chunks of Vitality in a mission doesn't feel like a great outcome. Or maybe I am just too sensitive about this.

I got absolutely blasted in my last mission, because I got confused about how cover works and 5 or 6 skeletal crossbowmen petered my guys with bolts before we managed to close the gap. Balan got two injuries and barely survived. I had to rush the Cathedral to start patching him up (sold out all my armoury for that purpose). Kay also got some vitality wounds and will have to sit out two missions.

The Magnificent Bastard, Ector got 1 vitality point, but this is so minor that I don't care about treating it and I kind of have to take all of my remaining knights on my next few missions. If anything it will give Dindraine an opportunity to show how badass she is, because between Ector and Mordred we have a ton of vulnerability effects to start thinning out enemies before they even reach the main line.

Not sure why people don't like Balan. In my game he is a truck that wrecks everything that stands next to him, while Kay is lawnmower: he sprint to enemies to get extra bonus damage and chopps as many of the weaker enemies as he can. And if there aren't any he just hammers them with his other attacks. The rest of the team is there to more or less clean up.

I decided to buy that Oathstone I was talking about. The Lord must be pleased with me, because later he granted me more blessings:

Unbreakable.jpg
It's almost like Mordred is destined to be outnumbered (and he can grant unbreakable armor to anyone who is next to him!).

Love the atmosphere of the game - there are righteous knights who try to follow the ideal of the knight and ruthless bastards who have a more practical approach. So far nobody is an evil idiot just for the sake of being evil, which I approve. The art design is really good too, each knight looks unique and they all look like properly armoured medieval warriors, even Ector, who is basically a combat mage. Mordred is a bit over the top though. Somehow he reminds me more of King Arthur & the Knights of Justice:

kaatkoj_slasher.png
I also hate Dindraine. Not her armor, but her picture screams "I am on a diet!" to me. I mean, if you are using a bow you should have arms, not sticks.

By the way, does anyone else have the weird visual bug in which parts of the models look like a monet painting for some reason? It is not that noticeable at a distance, but when zoomed in (when rescuing Kay and talking to Tewelyn in the prologue, for example) it was horrible. I have all settings on maximum.

Do some of the gold-costing choices, like skippnig battles or getting a witch's blessing, have any story, non-combat impacts?

Yes it's pretty common. Early game is tough as you don't have a lot of items/skills to help you out. As long as it's only a few points in vitality damage you are fine, shouldn't result in an injury.

Balan is a nice starting Champion, the Defensive Stance (which Kay doesn't have) helps out with the Champion's squishiness. Later on there will be better Champions available, notably the White Knight and Lancelot (both are gated behind alignment).

In the journal there should be a section about game mechanics which provide definitions for outnumbered and disengaged I believe (as these terms sometime appear on items). I don't know if everything is included there though.

I may have missed some hidden chests but they were only a handful for me. There is a challenge to find 5 secret hidden chests for both perception and spellpower, so that might be an indication of the amount of hidden chests. Beyond hidden chests all I have found was that spellpower can provide info on the effects of shrines and warn you if they provide a negative condition. Of the two I would rate spellpower higher as relic dust is always nice to have.

Don't know, but I haven't noticed any impact. It's always advisable to have at least a few hundred gold before entering a mission. Sometimes you will find a priest/witch that will give you a skillpoint for payment. Those are always worthy investments.

I'm pretty sure loyalty is affected by choices you make in the actual missions you run. Yep "other" seems to be choices both big and small made in the course of a mission. "Events" are choices from those events you encounter inbetween missions and then there should also be a "morality/alignment" category as well, which simply refers to loyalty score in relation to Mordred's alignment. Later on in the game you may also either find or buy tomes that can reset negative loyalty scores of a knight.

Only Spellcraft chest I found so far is in Forbidden Keep, 200 dust.

If you find a secret post them here, won't be a better resource for this game than this thread.

Early Act II I was breezing through the encounters at hard difficulty, but at the end (~lvl 10) it's getting considerably harder it seems. Some nasty injuries after a couple of fights, causing your favorite heroes having to wait for a turn (and missing out on valuable XP as they can't do missions or training). Black Knight with a teleportation ring is a beast though...Teleport, leap frog on some poor sobs and have a vanguard hidden behind you as back-up because goddamn, those Champions sure are squishy.

Act 3 is even tougher. There's another 'defend the bridge' mission (at least on OF/Tyrant) and I'm seriously thinking about reloading a pre-mission save and taking a different party due to the amount of mobs. Balin might be OP against single mobs, but the numbers are getting a bit overwhelming. Wish I'd got that teleport on kill ring for my Champion because even with his AoE he can't clear them fast enough. Only problem is one of my Arcanists is two levels behind and the other is one level behind. I've put a lot of resources into Morgawse but her distance DPS isn't quite up to the job, unless I use one of my precious respec books and build her different. Could always take Dagonet on a different mission while she respecs at the Training ground and he gets a level up. Nice to have to actually think for a change.

Hard is kicking my balls.

Had to redo one mission to not get stuck with just one tank in the next one, just to get fucked in the next mission leaving my both tanks injured, probably forcing me to redo this one too. Also, fuck Banshees, and their insane HP pool.

Anyone here having some tips for early game? I feel like that I should have picked Sir Balan instead of Sir Balin just to have someone with extra armor with me instead of anothe glass cannon.

Balin is top 3 char in my opinion so he is a good choice. Early game overwatch is decent since there is not too many enemies you can make enemies waste their turn by running and you get free attack.

Ector is another solid early char when he gets fireblast.

Also early buy most health potions and dont be to afraid to use em. Anything to avoid vitality damage.
And you can buy great equipment I would upgrade it nearly first
