-lockpicking

What is people's complaint about lockpicking? I found it easier than Gothic or Skyrim, just hold D and move your mouse. I have pretty high mouse sensitivity, maybe that's why I'm finding it easy.

Smejki , have you guys encountered cases of missing non-English audio for some sentences, or English lines playing instead of non-English lines in some dialogues?

I thought they are intentional, for atmosphere.
I mean in cases when you've turned the audio to German or French through the options.

re:perks - I jumped on that "less falling dmg" perk like a fat kid on cake. I already fell down a hill twice and injured both my legs - nearly bled out too! Barely managed to limp into town and buy more friggin bandages. :rage:
realism: fixing broken legs with bandage and sleeping.

It's fucking hard. I'll increase my sensitivity--hopefully that will help. I was very tempted to get the lockpicking mod, but at least for now I'm going to persevere with the base game. The challenge is actually a lot of fun, albeit very frustrating from time to time.

Question: who is working on the official kodex review(s)? I know it just came out, but the interwebs need guidance, especially on this mostly excellent but controversial eurojanky ARPG. Someone sufficiently monocled and in need of doritos, please step forward. I very much want the industry to throw more money at games like this, so, please, fellow codexians, hop aboard the hype train!

I have to set mouse sensitivity lower/slower for lockpicking, which made it easier for me. I wonder if it has anything to do with framerate, for me they seem to be about around 30. Getting new gfx card today so I'll get to test that theory.

Also hint for those playing, if you haven't thought this out yet, pick up swords etc from the enemies and go fix them using grindstone, that is great for gaining levels in maintain-skill.

It's better to make saviour schnapps rather than buy them, they are easy to brew and you can buy the ingredients cheaply from the alchemist shop or from a trader. Nettle is common around Rattay but Belladonna I haven't found growing wild yet.

Also just ran into an odd bug, I bought a peasant's bow and was practising at the shooting range, when suddenly the nearby archery trainer ran off and told the guards I had been shooting at people. I only shot at targets so...
i wonder what happen if someone brew savior schnapps in real life.......

So, playing some more and the game is gud, no wonder the skyrimers don't like the combat, because it's more rpgish and tactical and less arcadish than skyrim.

but the stuttering and freezing is horrible, and i got a gtx 1080 and an i7 3,5ghz

Real men stayed and killed all the Cumans for the alternate ending.

what?
He mean Slavs. Only true Slav can kill all the Cumans.
there is a perk in the game called “true slav”

allows you to squat to regain stamina faster

True Slav Drinking Lvl 7 You get drunk on 50% less alcohol, saving your hard-earned Groschen, and your hangover the next day lasts only half as long. But bear in mind that getting drunk quickly brings both the positive and negative effects of alcohol.

also:

Witcher Alch Lvl 3 Potions will fill you up 30% less, which means you can drink more of them and more often.

-arrows without trails (if the game is so realistic why arrows leave fantasy trails?)
That's because they didn't want to use reticle. Without trails player will not have feedback. That was their excuse.

See? They work fast.

What are your "Advanced Graphics Settings"?

I'm on a 3 GB GTX 780 Windforce, factory OC. That's a 5 years old videocard. I'm using the latest drivers.
CPU - i7 4970k, 5 years old too.
8 GB RAM
SSD storage, but it's the slowest grade - SATA3, because my motherboard is from 2013 as well. No m2 port, no PCIe.

I am playing at 1080p, FoV set to 70. I've added the command line switch for heapsize for 8 GB RAM. My texture quality, water quality, object detail are set to Very High, Shader quality is at High, Visibility distance and LoD distance are maxed out. All else is on Medium. I haven't been tinkering with the game or making a custom cfg file.

The lowest FPS I get is 35 (when indoors in conversation). Really, the lowest. I'm mostly running around in the 50-60 range (I haven't disabled vsync). No stutters at all, no loading bar before conversations anywhere (I think that's related to storage speed).

I'm curious what's causing all the complaints of people with 1060s/1070s/1080s.

Hah, another convert! I love how people who thought this looked like Oblivion figure out that it’s actually awesome once they give it a try.

I can't believe it! Daniel Vavra actually pulled it off. The game is really good, besides the current bugs of course.

FPS is not the problem, i get 50-60 fps on ultra high at 2560x1440, it just stutters and freezes randomly out of nowhere, must be something with the game still, hope the patch in 2 weeks will fix it, got an ssd also.

Fextralife review: 8.7

Btw he doesn't mention the technical aspect at all. Interesting. Is Fextralife a prestigious site? I've never seen any reviews from them, I thought they're just hosting wikis.

Did anyone tried to kill first Cuman you encounter in the game (when you have to escape your home town, on the way to Theresa)?
Does he have good loot?

Difficult to say anything that way. I will try it out at a higher resolution tonight. I've got a 4K native display, but until I upgrade my videocard, no hope of playing newer games in 4K :)

I spent half an hour running around the miller in Rattay looking for that stupid shovel.
game of the year.

I've spent 20 minutes running around that red nightmare sequence looking for some sort of goddamn exit. Then, every youtuber and streamer I've seen didn't have any problems with that sequence.

Incline.

Same here. I caught myself thinking "This is bullshit" then I realised the game wasn't handholding me at all. And I liked that.

Reminded me of Morrowind where it was possible to spend hours looking for something. That's been something that has been lost in more recent RPGs.
