just as Oblivion did by introducing the infamous horse armor, I feel like KCD II might usher in the next era of

KCD1 had the same thing with the "Treasures of the Past" DLC. Gave you a bunch of treasure maps to find a cool armor set. You could purchase it separately after launch for like $4, and it was included in the Complete Edition.

Well armor as well as weapons have stat requirements so if you get it too early you probably wouldn't be able to wear it anyway.

At least it's locked behind a quest, you can get the OP armor in KCD1 just by following the crude maps (or watching a video).

The Warhorse armor parts in KCD had no requirement (or so low I could wear it right when I found them), and were so good it is only in the late game I started to find better parts. It was disappointing, since I didn't know about it when I started the game.

IIRC the first game was No. 1 for a couple of days before and after the launch and it's clear as day it's not gonna be different for KCD2.

That said I did NOT expect the game selling so well a whole month before the launch, holy crap.

There was this Polack Tuber saying a week ago previews would be dropping 10th Jan at 5 PM and the review embargo lifts on the 3rd Feb at the same time.

Skimmed through a few Czech previews, everyone is happy about the game and apparently this time around the optimization is great and there are few bugs to speak of.

Haven't seen anything about the jogger yet though, he's probably in the later part of the game, few people have gotten that far.

I actually used to watch most of his videos. Haven't seen a minute of anything since his baffling Veilguard take.

I don't want to talk too much about the performance on the Steam Deck just yet since there's still so much more of the game to play, but so far, I will say the experience has been very positive. 30 FPS will definitely be possible, and I could see it working without any upscaler. It looks like 40 FPS may also be possible with upscaling. I don't want to say definitively whether it's playable on Deck or not, but my guess after my experience so far is that this will be a solid portable experience.

He didn't say much about the actual performance numbers while running the game on the deck, but if he believes the game can run at 30 fps on the SD just fine, then people can most certainly run on low end desktops just fine without upscaling.

Oh so the previews are limited to the first map, Bohemian Paradise. We aren't gonna know anything about the Kuttenberg map until the 3rd February when the review embargo lifts.

I watched a preview but I don't think there's going to be any insight into the existence of specific NPCs

Previews have been strictly limited in what they can reveal, specifically they can't reveal anything past a certain point in the story

That kerfuffle aside, the preview I watched sounded extremely positive, especially regarding bugs - almost nothing.
