"Henry is you", they say. And then they force me to play on the evil side. Helping this Janosh and that pollack cunt doesn't strike me as me. I would've been happy to let these scumbags hang.
I think you can fail, on purpose or by accident, rescuing either one of them, or even both.
Silly me then, I haven't actually tried it. I was basing it on available dialogue options and all of them seemed to be about helping them. Though I guess to let Janosh hang I would also have to let the guy he axed die, and he dindu nuffin. Also pretty funny that Henry was the only one around who knew how to bandage him and give him potion. That high level of medicine just escaped everyone else around apparently.

I've also started playing Henry as a bumbling fool, for comedic value. Purposely choosing the skill checks with highest requirements just to see him go full retard.

Helping this Janosh and that pollack cunt
actually i wonder about that polish dude that no one in bohemia can understand and where everyone can understand german. Wouldnt our languages be much closer in xv century? summoning Darth Roxor and Maxie
Btw funny story, back in 1403 we were using digraphs like you're now (cz, sz, rz etc.) while your medieval ancestors weren't (at least that's what wiki says on the Old Polish). But in 1406 Jan Hus reformed Czech, got rid of the digraphs and replaced them with single letters with wedges (č, š, ř) while you had shortly after your own language revolution where you actually adopted digraphs.
It's doesn't matter. Spoken language does not use spelling.

I'm actually getting a bit annoyed at the characters who have half their dialogue in foreign languages. Germans or gypsies and the like. We are in Czechia for fuck's sake, learn proper english you filthy immigrants!
That's not my reason I'm annoyed, people typically don't mix a foreign language with their mother tongue, or at least not nearly as much. In real world you don't meet, say, Russians who'd talk to you half in English and half in Russian, that's be retarded. Instead, if someone isn't fluent in a foreign langue they speak it slowly, in simple, broken sentences. They wouldn't be replacing 50% of the words they don't know with their own language.
Uhh... no, people do that a lot. Exactly the thing you're describing. Especially in a region where said language is endemic and they expect you to be slightly familiar with it, as would be the case with german and czech in this region. Go to any former British colony and be amazed at the deluge of half-English, half-whatever-else you hear everywhere. We literally make portmanteaus for them in a lot of cases - I'm assuming you're not American, then, so you don't routinely hear Spanglish?

He is mistaken. You get a game over if you fail to rescue either of them.

Yeah, maybe the secret was in his heartfelt prayer

When Henry fails a speech check, the line he has has always been hilarious.

Gee that's really silly of them. A game over even for missing these characters?

I was going to say this in relation to something else, but the game would have really been only better if they had cut the main story to half the length and half the plot twists, but added at least some branching to it.

Mr movie director Vavra's wankery has been going unchecked in this project and it shows.

Apparently Polish and Czech back then were closer than Polish from then and modern Polish.

I've seen a clip of it on YouTube and found it stupid

Love the game for the most part, but I think I'm going to have to shelve it at 30 hours in due to the utter lack of difficulty, sadly. I have not died once. I'll be eagerly awaiting a difficulty mod, and hopefully one I can apply mid-game so I can resume where I left off. What a bummer. Really wish they would have added a higher difficulty mode in this.
