I'm level 13 and my max stat is Speech at 14. Probably from all the endless yapping while following main quest until Kuttenberg. Still don't even have enough Strength (11/13) to meet requirements for the sword I have equipped, Basilard. I think I can say this game is easy mode considering I barely had any trouble in any of the fights despite using weapons I don't even have required stats for pretty much entire game. All I had to do was make sure I never run out of stamina. So perfect block + riposte few times then move around a bit for stamina to regenerate, repeat.

I really cannot be arsed to do all the side quests, I had this same issue with first game where most of the side shit just bored me.

The best and fastest way to level strength is get super encumbered (as much as possible) and walk around for like five minutes. The XP gain at the max fat is borderline busted so use it before it's fixed.

And yeah, game is very easy, except for the early stages when you don't know what you're doing. As for the block/riposte strat, it's better, albeit slightly riskier, to use ripostes as starting points for simple combos.

Yep they said many times in interviews they went into developing the first game knowing the setting and stories aren't gonna appeal to everyone. In reality their sales expectations were crazy modest, they were completely flabbergasted when the first game sold a million copies in a week. From the very start it's been a pure, unadulterated passion project and from various interviews you get the sense they would've been perfectly happy if the sales just covered the costs and some change.

I for one wouldn't want all my RPGs grounded and realistic, set in some niche historical place and period, but as a palate cleanser and change-of-pace KCD is absolutely phenomenal. PLUS the writing is fucking great, especially compared to all the currentday Western gloop, so I for one can't get enough of the adventures and stories in that world.

That said I'm already very much looking to my Shin Megami Tensei 3 playthrough I've got lined up next, expecting some prime cuts of trademark Japanese wackiness.

they did make a big deal about how this time it's 'your Henry' and implied more roleplaying options

They just wanted to justify the gay sex. When I poke holes in the 'your Henry, more options' I was told that 'it won't make sense. It would take more work from devs"

Maybe if devs didn't focus so much on adding Musa, saving Jews being the only choice and gay sex options then they would've had more time to put in actual good options in the game. Like joining the Sigismund and his merry band

Writing is definitely better than average for games but it doesn't strike me as great either. Some parts even made me cringe a bit. It feels like a downgrade from first game in that regard. It's definitely less "grounded and realistic" now. I disliked all the jerking off to Godwin. Oh wow what a cool guy he is. Zizka calling him "proper priest" after finding out he drinks. At least I liked finding out he's been sacked from his duties because of his stupid antics with Henry in first game, that's well deserved. Also Zizka saying Katherine is more dangerous than any of his men. Right.. That's just what a medieval military commander would say about a fucking woman. Fuck Zizka, stupid character. I liked Von Bergow better, but of course game won't allow me to be on his side.

Yeah, man, Godwin setting a good example for others by being a drunken whoremongering priest.
What a proper and moral christian, right?
What dumb caricatures...

I liked Dry Devil though.
A shameless, bloodthirsty, foul mouthed badass who kills and robs people for the lulz (and the money).
Also the "baddies" von Bergow, Markvart von Aulitz and Sigismund (though he has so little screentime).

A liberal pepik like Vavra would never allow you to join your forces against Zizka, its probably his hero. Hussites were also in cahoots with jews.

Jews gave money to Sigismund to hire cumans, then to Wenceslaus because they were so dumb hoping that the drunk king would pay them back, then hussites that dragged them in a losing war and used them to summon devil's, build golems and die in a blaze of glory with a banzai charge....Zizka was so evil that took credit about It....he couldn't die in battle because a pact with the devil, he was killed rotting from the inside.

"Henry is you", they say. And then they force me to play on the evil side. Helping this Janosh and that pollack cunt doesn't strike me as me. I would've been happy to let these scumbags hang.

I'm actually getting a bit annoyed at the characters who have half their dialogue in foreign languages. Germans or gypsies and the like. We are in Czechia for fuck's sake, learn proper english you filthy immigrants!

That's not my reason I'm annoyed, people typically don't mix a foreign language with their mother tongue, or at least not nearly as much. In real world you don't meet, say, Russians who'd talk to you half in English and half in Russian, that's be retarded. Instead, if someone isn't fluent in a foreign langue they speak it slowly, in simple, broken sentences. They wouldn't be replacing 50% of the words they don't know with their own language.

Its very weird, even today a Czech and a Pole could somewhat communicate. In the times of KCD west slavic languages barelly differed enough to be called separate languages and not just dialects, both speakers could normally communicate even without translators. Not even to mention that czech language was in its peak of popularity, in that time czech heavily influenced polish language so simillarities were even greater.
In KCD 2 on the other hand i sometimes think that Henry understands more german or even hungarian than polish, though i think that Adder has no problems to understand czech.

It's like in the first game I hoped to learn cuman language in the game and enroll into the Cuman army to get Henry's revenge on the assholes who sacked Henry's hometown, but the game never allowed you to. So much missed opportunities with the first game.

It's the same reason I'm annoyed with it, I'm just joking around a bit. And Henry is way too good at understanding them, he should be getting annoyed as well.

Bohemia was a part of the HRE for a thousand years, tons of Germans cohabiting here, safe to assume a lot of people were bilingual.

As for Czech and Polish being close, no idea. I mean both are based on Proto-Slavic so at some point they were one and the same but could've drifted apart by the 1400s. As I look at historical examples both look largely incomprehensible tbh, each in their own way. Hard to compare.

Btw funny story, back in 1403 we were using digraphs like you're now (cz, sz, rz etc.) while your medieval ancestors weren't (at least that's what wiki says on the Old Polish). But in 1406 Jan Hus reformed Czech, got rid of the digraphs and replaced them with single letters with wedges (č, š, ř) while you had shortly after your own language revolution where you actually adopted digraphs.

Yea then again it's a game and a lot of it is gamefied. Like Henry, the grubby yokel who's never set foot outside his jerkwater shithole of a village, being fluent in Hungarian in KCD1 if you level up your Speech enough etc. Honestly there are bigger problems like the economy, difficulty curve (there is none after the first 3 hours) and weapon balance.

it is the case for people who lived abroad(without speaking native language) for a long time and then return. Then you can hear native language with foreign grammar and random foreign words.

if I go to czechia now, we would be able to understand each other. Thats why its so weird as otherwise... what. Our languages became closer somehow over time?

Eeeeh I don't know about that, are you sure? I know for a fact people in border areas (Silesia, Northern Bohemia) can understand Polish just fine but that's largely because people intermarry up there, visit each other etc. If you travelled to Brno or Budweiss I'm p. sure nobody would understand you squat.
