Saying his game is a rail shooter with less shooting is an obvious joke. :p

Also thanks to someone at the 'Watch I found out that this guy wrote a million words about why Skyrim sucks:

Who knows, it could be a good action rpg for those who like that sort of thing. :bounce:

95% of an engine is about graphics/sound/etc. Replacing the 5% that makes it an FPS engine with the 5% that would make it a TB RPG wouldn't be difficult at all, if that is what they plan to do. Licensing an engine is different from modding, you have full access to the engine source to make your changes. Its not like there is a glut of good RPG engines these days, and its an order of magnitude easier to modify CryEngine than it would be to create your own with the same capabilities.

I still except a corridor shooter though, just based on market demand.

You are right in the first part of your post. We selected CE3 after several months of testing and its ideal for our game. You are wrong in the second part of your post. We are developing realistic RPG set in an open world. I personally strongly believe that there is a strong market demand for that (just look how well games like Skyrim, New Vegas or Witcher sell - each several millions sold). Even not very known and critically acclaimed games like Two Worlds manage to sell around million. Demand for FPS corridor shooters is mostly from the publishers trying to make new CoD, not from the market. Most FPS games (except the few big ones) are not selling as well as RPGs (Homefront, Bulletstorm and many many more). Luckily, we are self funded and dont need to follow publisher demands (so far) ;)

And yes - that tweet about House of the Dead game was a joke.

Oh, hello, Daniel. :salute:

Since you are no longer a T2 employee I'd like to ask you a simple question: Why did Mafia 2 end up such a half-baked soulless turd, even though it had so much potential?

You probably understand, that I cant comment on this :) For many different reasons and me not being able to take criticism is not one of them. I left almost a year before it was finished, so I dont know the answers.

Insert clever insult here
Well, at least this will be PC-centric. That's something. Too bad my laptop won't be able to run it, most likely. Still, when I get that monster desktop someday in the far future, I wouldn't mind having something similar to Witcher 2 on the playing list.

Also, boobs. There will most likely be glorious boobies. Model characters after Czech porn stars? :p

 Codex welcoming at its purest - "Hello Mr. Developer, why was your last game such a turd?". Anyway, nice of you to join Dan, I used to be crazy about Mafia 1 some years ago.

But... but you need $60 mln for this! I hope Warhorse has Creative Strategist position together with 20 Executive Producers otherwise it won't cost as much and won't be awesome

I was going to debunk all the skepticism in this thread by mentioning Dan Vávra's track record, but now that he's here, I see I don't need to bother :salute:

A dev posting here? I thought they abandoned this place around 2008. Nice to see that we're becoming a prestigius magazine again.:salute:

Hey Vavra, I really liked your last post on the Developer's diary. Nice to see other devs fighting the good fight with words besides the guys from Larian Studios. I just hope to see all this enthusiasm transferred into the game.

Veronica

I find Jaesun bitching about yet another action "RPG" and then being brought up short by MEh(2) far more hilarious than skyway's 7 times KotOR. Mostly because it's current *g*

Now that there's some development on the TB front I can even wish an aRPG dev luck and hope for an actually good aRPG (since most suck).
