WORLD
The game has a beautiful, living, and breathing pixel world with weather effects and wildlife. It’s huge with tons to explore and discover. Different background music plays in each town/area with its own map to unlock separately from the world map. Truthfully, exploring was what I mostly did in my early access save because I wanted to familiarize myself with the world to avoid getting lost before the 1.0 release, especially at night when it gets quite dark (a lantern is so useful). Even then, the world is bigger in the 1.0 release than in the early access build. Thankfully, there are no penalties for not making it back home in time, just that you pass out and wake up in bed the next day. There’s also a fast travel system via the goddess statues throughout the world.
TIME
There are four seasons per in-game year: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each season's duration is 14 days rather than the typical 28 days in other life sim games, with each day not being too fast or too slow (your mileage may vary). I imagine it’s because each generation is too long to progress through, given that you age by the actual year until age 50, which is already long enough. However, you can easily skip time by going to bed anytime you want without penalties. You can even select how many individual hours to sleep, starting with one hour. This is useful for skipping time without wanting to skip an entire day, and that's how you save your game out of multiple save slots available.
GENERATIONS
There are four life stages: baby, kid, adult, and old. Each generation, you take over as one of your children and pass down your genetics, traits, and skills, rinse and repeat (indefinitely). As a result, whatever siblings there are end up moving away after you make your choice of which child to play as. Meanwhile, NPCs grow old and die, spawning children of their own with generated first and last names from an extensive list of eccentric combinations based on fairytales and folklore.
ROMANCE
You can romance and marry any adult regardless of gender, both married and single. The exception is the NPCs with special roles/titles. If married, the NPC will divorce their spouse for you, but the spouse is fine with it because "love is for all" in this game (no jealousy system). If you decide to marry another NPC, you can simply get a divorce.
FAMILY
On your farmland, there are specific schedules that you can assign to each household member (older than a baby) as a sort of daily routine, and they can help you with house chores and farming. Adopting babies costs money, delivered via a stork, and you can have up to three per generation. Adoption is the only way to have children because pregnancy isn't a thing in this game. You can also have pets.
NPCs
There are so many NPCs of various ages to meet all over the world, all with unique personalities. Some are outright hostile, while others are kind, including the kids. They will remember the good and bad things you do in the game, but I'm not sure if that will lead to a generational feud for the bad deeds, or if it’s just during the current generation. There are also many quests/tasks to complete at your leisure, with nice rewards.
ACTIVITIES
There are multiple skills to learn, and you can own/run various shops with minigames for cooking and crafting, including a general store and blacksmith. Even the swords you make will vary in quality upon success of each minigame, which can be great for combat or selling to NPCs. There's a deep combat system that can practically be its own game, and it takes place in the woods/forests aptly named by their various difficulty levels. Fishing is easy and fun. Farming, of course, is a popular feature for many players, which includes farm animals. There's even a tavern with various live performances to watch.
OFFERINGS
There are six goddesses you can choose from to make offerings every 7th and 14th day each season. If you don't offer anything at all, terrible things will start to happen in your life over time, even across generations. I believe you can favor one goddess over another, but the others may not be pleased about that. There's also a brounie NPC who lives with you later in the game, and you must gift it something daily to prevent terrible things from happening over time. However, it's quite simple because it can be anything, as long as you are at least gifting something. To remedy these penalties, including from the goddesses, simply start offering every chance you get, and after a while, you'll be good again
