I was waiting for it, and sure enough, an artist wasn't quite thrilled with Swen's hypocritical speech at the game awards.
Pride is a master of deception
Senior environment artist
Former employee, more than 5 years

Pros

The projects, job security and little overtime. There are plenty of genuine people who work hard to make the best game they can.

Cons

- The workplace is toxic, do not get fooled by Sven's speeches
- The company tolerates abusive behaviours, no real safety net
- Competitive culture where you need to prove you deserve your tasks and your title
- Pay is quite low
- Almost no work-from-home allowed...

Advice to Management

Preaching for a better gaming industry is great, but doing your part includes preventing your own company culture from being toxic..

Well if BG3 is so successful, I don't think Larian is going to change that mentality and work culture for the next game.

Bard Dance (Holiday Song)

Well, a bard came down a mountain
Met a lady at the mart
Looked her over from head to toe
and said you stole my heart

’But the lady only chuckled
Said ‘I’ve heard that line before.
Yet I know an inn where dancers spin
And you can tell me more.

So the lady led the bard in
Winter festival was nigh
People dancing, laughing, drinking
Till the shining stars were high

Come and kiss me darling, take my hand and dance
With the gods so cruel, this could be our last chance
Now the year is done, we're running our last race
So with open arms feel Holiday's embrace

Drain your cup and then fill it up again
Sing for me with your friends!
Jam with Lohse and dance with Raphael
Party till the end.

Now the year is done, we're running our last race
So with open arms feel Holiday's embrace
Come and kiss me darling, take my hand and dance
With the gods so cruel, this could be our last chance

Drink up lassies, drink up laddies
Take a turn around the floor
Ban tomorrow, turn away from sorrow
Spin me three times more!

Drink up friends and drink up lovers
Get some cold ones from the snow
Pour me double, I am up for trouble
Let the spirits flow!

Come and kiss me darling, take my hand and dance
With the gods so cruel, this could be our last chance
Now the year is done, we're running our last race
So with open arms feel Holiday's embrace

Larian picked up a guy from PEG (Deadlands, Savage Worlds). I'm sure someone here cares.
Donald Schepis moved on to greener pastures just this month. We wouldn’t normally say that, as we think our pastures are pretty green, but since he moved to Ireland to work for video game publisher of the year, Larian Studios (Divine Divinity, Baldur’s Gate 3), we think that’s a fair statement! Don did GREAT things for Pinnacle in his several years here and his passion for design, internal organization, and improving our customer experience will be felt for years to come.

"
Larian Studios is now giving its "full attention" to the team's next game, following the breakout success of Baldur's Gate 3. A spokesperson for the studio confirmed this to VideoGamer, adding that Larian will be on a "media blackout" going ahead.

[Larian boss Swen Vincke] and the team['s]… full attention is focused on crafting their next title," a spokesperson said.

Vincke also recently responded to a documentary about Larian titled "Larian Studios: From Bankruptcy to Baldur's Gate 3." The feature digs into Larian's origins and goes over the team's history as a game developer, leading up to the launch and huge success of Baldur's Gate 3.

Vincke said watching the video made him feel "all nostalgic." He added, "It really has been a incredible journey so far. But the story ain't over yet. Stay tuned. Going to try to skip the dark night of the soul moment though if you don't mind."

As for Larian's next game, the studio is working on a title codenamed "Excalibur." There is no word on what this game actually is, though we know it won't be Baldur's Gate 4.

Beyond Larian's next game, Vincke is thinking even further out and has grand plans to create a "very big RPG" that will "dwarf" any of Larian's previous releases. "It's an inspirational goal. That's it. I cannot say more, because it needs to stay in that dream-reality," he said.

While Larian will not make Baldur's Gate 4, Hasbro has said it is keen to expand the Baldur's Gate series with other teams. "We're going to take our time and find the right partner, the right approach, and the right product," Hasbro previously said about the future of Baldur's Gate."

Swen, don't make it turn-based but like realtime 3rd person action RPG.
He'll surely make Divinity 3 eventually, not leaving it on that cliffhanger for all time.

Flames of Vengeance was released nearly 15 years ago. :negative:
