That is the case but they didn't do rankings correctly. When tied, for example 2 games at #4, next game should've been 6 and so on. Thus, Geneforge 2 is voted as joint #40 with 11 other games. They're getting things wrong from top to bottom lol

The Rank-Number is just a number to sort the games after their score.

Each user has three votes for his top 3 top RPGs (and for the most promising vote, too).

For each #1 vote the game gets a score of 4 points
For each #2 vote the game gets a score of 2 points
For each #3 vote the game gets a score of 1 points

The sum of all score points for a game over all voters determine the Rank-Number.
Games with the same Rank have the same score-points.

Except your ranking doesn't make sense because those games at the bottom are not 19th based on voting, but 40th.
All the games with rank 19:

Capes
Dawn of the Ashen Queen
Broken Roads
Wuthering Waves
Dungeons of Hinterberg
Final Fantasy XVI
Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
Kingsvein
StarCrawlers Chimera
Passageway of the Ancients
Geneforge 2 - Infestation

have the same voting score - they are equally good - they have all the 19th best score.

And they're all tied for 40th (last) place, not 19th. Keep up old man.

No!

Because they don't have just 18 games ahead of them.

They have 39 games before. So, they are all 40th.

It's math, logic, common sense, elementary school.

So you just know the placement system of sport races? You should be more flexible young man - maybe next time I use letters :)
What you (and RPGWatch) think is:

we have 100 people doing an exam: 99 have A grades and the 1 has C.

The other one has the SECOND RANK of grades. I could accept it, if that wasn't utterly misleading and stupid.

Your "rank" system is shit

A game being "ranked" 19 when there are 39 games with a higher score is misleading.

Literal 80IQ nigger with shit taste Geneforge 2 in last place just lol

They have 18 sets of games with the same voting score ahead of them - university math.
You are not listing SETS of games, but single games with completely different characteristics. They have the same amount of votes not because part of a set. They do not share a category that you evaluate as a single set.

So, you're saying bullshit both in an elementary school and university math.

The set of games with voting score of 1 at RPGWatch, each of these games was only voted at the 3rd place by one user.

If you have a masters you should know how to apply shit to the real world.

Your system is misleading and retarded (also not presented properly) so triple whammy

I use my rank system because it's a) much easier to program with SQL and b) I want to see which games have the first, second, .... nth best score.

If you like a sport-race placement system more than nothing is wrong with that - do it in the RPG Codex vote.

Then, instead of awarding the "game" in the first place, you should award the "set" in the first place that, fortunately, involves just one game.

I have exactly done that: For eample in the most promising RPG vote Gothic 1 Remake and Avowed have the same voting score of 76 and the same rank 2. Both are listed as Runner Up.

Wikipedia - Dense Ranking

Sequential/Dense ranking ("1223" ranking)

[edit]
In dense ranking, items that compare equally receive the same ranking number, and the next items receive the immediately following ranking number. Equivalently, each item's ranking number is 1 plus the number of items ranked above it that are distinct with respect to the ranking order.

Thus if A ranks ahead of B and C (which compare equal) which are both ranked ahead of D, then A gets ranking number 1 ("first"), B gets ranking number 2 ("joint second"), C also gets ranking number 2 ("joint second") and D gets ranking number 3 ("Third").

This method is called "Sequential" by IBM SPSS[5] and "dense" by the R programming language[7] in their methods to handle ties.

But let's discuss the games more than the voting/ranking system.

I'm mostly curious why Ass Creed is 7 on the most promising RPGs for 2025 list.

1. How many people voted for that?
2. Do they have eyes?

How the hell Dagon Dogmat 2 is on the list (and so high) when it's even more unfinished than first game?
And the developement was delayed to make Devil May Cry 5 which also feels lacking... more than a decade of waiting for this?
I've tried it for free and still feel like wasted time and money.

Stalker 2? People branded Stalker series as RPGs and act surprised when you ask "why?".

Fallout London winning? Another big mod on Gamebryo is not a surprise after Enderal. Didn't it make to their older list?

And loads of jRPGs which does not surprise me - it's "pick your poison" with either that or western garbage.

1. How many people voted for that?
not many - probably tired of playing old/good stuff so they changed sites and got brain poison that make them like uninspired filth. Also - not that many because forums are dying.

What do you mean by that? Each major SQL implementation has both dense_rank() and rank() among their built-in window functions.
