Morningstar, coupled with the flute, makes you destroyer of the worlds. You go towards the horde, preferably out of your village; play the flute, switch to the morningsta and watch the grinding meat. The two are definitely worth it. Especially if you have the teleportation ring, horde waves will become a joke. You teleport to wherever they're coming from, right between them and do the flute+morningstar. Whole wave will be over in seconds.

Additionally, if you can afford to spend ~480, build 3 straight and adjacent rows of canals against where the horde comes from the most, and build a 4th row of walls by the canal. Most of the hordlings will drown before they even find either end of the wall. This pays terribly good in the long run. I've repelled horde waves doing nothing but this, except when a tank, shaman or a burrower would show up. Placing a knight+archer on each end will decrease the odds of a fuck up. You gotta watch for the village roads, though. Sometimes they will be built over walls, but you can stop roads by placing a trap on where they seems to be going to.

edit: Don't forget to get the trident!

edit2: Burrowers can actually swim, but I think that's because of a bug. I've seen them swim plenty of times when I was chasing one across the water, but not when I was in the village, waiting.

To everything there is a season, a time for every hordling under the heaven, so be patient.

Kar-Nyar desert, year two, take two:

Everyone, on your places!

Aaaaaaaaaand, ACTION!

UO1159.jpg

UO1160.jpg

UO1161.jpg

More moat digging. Jolly.

UO1162.jpg

Dammit, I could really use some more time during the set up phase.

UO1163.jpg

UO1164.jpg

UO1165.jpg

The regulars can also plant evil saplings? Curious.

UO1166.jpg

UO1167.jpg

UO1168.jpg

UO1169.jpg

so-so.

UO1170.jpg

Hohoho, guess what we'll do now.

Yup, dig more waterways.

UO1171.jpg

UO1172.jpg

UO1173.jpg

How exciting! I think I'm gonna change the thread's title to 'Let's play: Moatdigging!'

UO1174.jpg

Anyway, dropped some cows in random places in the southern area, I desperately need incomes, if I'm gonna continue the digging.

UO1175.jpg

UO1176.jpg

UO1177.jpg

UO1178.jpg

UO1179.jpg

UO1180.jpg

UO1181.jpg

Oh yes, did I mention that attacking the burrowers is a PAIN IN THE ARSE?

UO1182.jpg

UO1183.jpg

UO1184.jpg

UO1185.jpg

Uh... that doesn't sound too good *puts on a barrel with 'THE END IS NIGH' written on it*

UO1186.jpg

UO1187.jpg

Oh, good. I placed half of my lunch money on the Jousters.

UO1189.jpg

HOLY SHIT. Well, the meteor flew straight through our village, but fortunately, it crashlanded far in the northwest corner

UO1190.jpg

and left some nukular fallout behind it.

UO1191.jpg

I'M A MOATDIGGER AND I'M OK!

UO1192.jpg

I THWACK ALL NIGHT AND I SHOVEL ALL DAY!

UO1193.jpg

UO1194.jpg

Dropped some more random cows. Would drop even more and maybe some knights too, but I keep running out of time.

UO1195.jpg

12 hordlings incoming.

UO1196.jpg

And the ones in the north are not quite burrowers

UO1197.jpg

Time to put on my blue suede shoes

UO1198.jpg

UO1199.jpg

UO1200.jpg

Whoa, lotsa

UO1201.jpg

Taking hits!
The boots have one disadvantage. The haste makes careful manuevering kinda hard, and often you run into enemies.

UO1202.jpg

UO1203.jpg

INTRUDER IN THE SOUTH AREA

UO1204.jpg

UO1205.jpg

Damn jumpers.

UO1206.jpg

So, uh... where's the last one?

UO1207.jpg

Ah, there he is, in the north.

UO1208.jpg

UO1209.jpg

The idiot got stuck in a loop, and kept running around from point A on the left side of the moat to B on the right side.

UO1210.jpg

So I went after him with the hordling prod.

UO1211.jpg

And lured him into a knight.

UO1212.jpg

meh.

UO1213.jpg

Behold, the UBERKEEP! Moat to keep away burrowers, walls to keep away anything else, and a knight put inside a choke point to give away divine punishment.

UO1215.jpg

and some cows.

UO1216.jpg

UO1217.jpg

UO1218.jpg

Shaman beamed in next to the lone knight in the middle.

UO1219.jpg

I'm not afraid of your shitty fireballs :x

UO1220.jpg

Because in the end, grimthwacker > you.

UO1221.jpg

FUCK. Houston, we have a porblem.

UO1222.jpg

A tank penetrated our uberkeep.

UO1223.jpg

Took out the hordlings pestering this house, time to go save the cows.

UO1224.jpg

Yup, turns out I DIDN'T take out all the hordlings pestering the house. Gah, no matter. Time to activate the turboengines

UO1225.jpg

shit.

UO1226.jpg

LET THE SACRED FLAMES PURGE THE SINNERS.

UO1227.jpg

Ouch. Crap, another one.

UO1228.jpg

I'm afraid these cows are out of our reach now... oh well.

UO1229.jpg

BURN!!!

UO1230.jpg

got hit again... not good, one more hit and sir Carter will have to sacrifice himself AGAIN.

UO1231.jpg

BUUUUUUUUURN!!!!!!!

UO1232.jpg

Hmmm... the wall got a little bit... decimated. Let's get the burrower ravaging in the village.

UO1233.jpg

UO1234.jpg

ffs

UO1235.jpg

HOLY SHIT HE'S AFTER ME

UO1236.jpg

UO1237.jpg

I'm not taking any chances.

UO1238.jpg

Oh, good. He got bashed by the knight.

UO1239.jpg

Now for the last one.

UO1240.jpg

Here, I had to make a matrix dodge across the water, because the hordling tried to charge me.

UO1241.jpg

Sorry villager, your sacrifice will be remembered.

UO1242.jpg

ouch...

Also, now that I think about it, it was a really fucking stupid idea to take the walls and cows NORTH whence nearly all the assaults come instead of south, which doesn't see almost any enemies. Gonna move the uberkeep in the next year, then.

UO1243.jpg

UO1244.jpg

Guess I'll skip the morning star again this time.

Until we meet again *fanfare of trumpets*

I told you to get some archers, but nooo, you put down a stupid wall. Also, placing a cow diagonally next to a knight was just brilliant!
It's kinda funny tho how tanks appear just as you put down a wall, and charge right into it. It's pretty much the worst that could happen: Tanks break through your wall right into your largest group of cows, while burrowers destroy your village.

The hoardlings get an A- for their battle plan.

PS:
Finish the moat around your village already! And give it some space to expand. Right now the village is constricterd by desert on two sides and water on the others.

That was some serious moat digging!

Moar please.

Also: Did you find any goodies where the meteor crashed?

Welcome to Horde LP.

This is Horde LP. Welcome.

This is Horde LP. Welcome... to Horde LP.

You can do ANYTHING at Horde LP. Anything at all... the only limit is yourself.

You have come... to Horde LP. Welcome to Horde LP.

This is Horde LP. WELCOME! Yes... This is Horde LP and welcome to YOU who have come to HORDE LP.

Anything is possible at Horde LP. You can do ANYTHING at Horde LP.

THE INFINITE IS POSSIBLE AT HORDE LP!

THE UNATTAINABLE IS UNKNOWN AT HORDE LP!

Welcome... To Horde LP.

UO1245.jpg

We pick off in spring of Year III. First thing we do is...

UO1246.jpg

Take down the Berlin Wall.

UO1247.jpg

And get the cows south.

UO1248.jpg

And dig some more water after that.

UO1249.jpg

Now it's time to THWACK!

UO1250.jpg

Holy shit... is that a cow/building hybrid created by the nukular fallout from the crashed meteor?!

UO1251.jpg

Hurr, suckers come from the north, but there is NOTHING in the north. I tricked them, haha!

UO1252.jpg

UO1253.jpg

UO1254.jpg

UO1255.jpg

Hmmmm, lotsa. But, who cares about regular hordlings, they might as well come in hundreds and they'd still not matter.

UO1256.jpg

UO1257.jpg

UO1258.jpg

Good results over here.

UO1259.jpg

Woohoo, now the moat is ENTIRELY covering the village, which means we're impervious to the burrowers *high five*

UO1260.jpg

Let's extend the south waterways to get more grass in order to build the Uberkeep.

UO1261.jpg

UO1262.jpg

UO1263.jpg

The most I managed to do before running out of time.

UO1264.jpg

UO1265.jpg

UO1266.jpg

UO1267.jpg

Multiple hostiles incoming. Those in the north need to die.

UO1268.jpg

UO1269.jpg

UO1270.jpg

The rest are burrowers that can't enter our settlement...

OH BOOHOO : (((((((((((

UO1271.jpg

UO1272.jpg

I found a good way to deal with them. Since they're hugging the coast, all you need to do is run beside them and whack when you pull level with them.

UO1273.jpg

Sup, cows. I have no idea why I kept this knight out here, but let's pretend he doesn't exist.

Now for some absolutely uninteresting chase scenes.

UO1274.jpg

UO1275.jpg

UO1276.jpg

UO1277.jpg

UO1278.jpg

UO1279.jpg

UO1280.jpg

UO1281.jpg

UO1282.jpg

UO1283.jpg

UO1284.jpg

UO1285.jpg

UO1286.jpg

UO1287.jpg

Yup, it is as uninteresting as it looks. I'll cut down on the amount of burrower-chasing images later though, I promise.

UO1288.jpg

Fun.

UO1289.jpg

UO1290.jpg

WHAT!? Right, there go your jewish archers, Claw. Now I'm certainly not going to hire them :x

UO1291.jpg

UO1292.jpg

UO1293.jpg

Ah, yes, that's understandable then.

UO1294.jpg

Filled the holes in the southern wall.

UO1295.jpg

Gonna expand it further to the east later

UO1296.jpg

Because right now, we ran out of time.

UO1297.jpg

UO1298.jpg

UO1299.jpg

The lone hordling in the north already got stalled by the moat so he's a burrower, which makes him irrelevant to our interests. Let's head west.

UO1300.jpg

UO1301.jpg

UO1302.jpg

UO1303.jpg

How dare you attack me, whelps? :x

UO1304.jpg

BLOODLUST!!11111

UO1305.jpg

Uh, shit.

UO1306.jpg

And apparently there are more tanks in the south. How fucking jolly is that?

UO1307.jpg

Let's burn this one down first and head south.
(soundtrack for this episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_cTBgxcOKs)

UO1308.jpg

The night erupts with the sound of small arms fire

UO1309.jpg

I raise my gun and let lead fly

UO1310.jpg

mow 'em down left to right

UO1311.jpg

I've tasted blood now I want more

UO1312.jpg

Screams of pain echo through the night

UO1313.jpg

as bullets find their targets

UO1314.jpg

Into our trench they fall

UO1315.jpg

The combat goes hand to hand

UO1316.jpg

In a killing frenzy I split someone's head.

(and I don't give a damn if you don't like death metal :x )

The rest of the season are chase scenes, so I'll skip to the results.

UO1325.jpg

Only one cow lost to the panzer battalion. Not bad.

UO1327.jpg

Right, expanded the southern wall, added as many cows as possible without having them directly next to each other. Also left one entryway from the side of the village if we need to get into the pen to whack wayward shamans or something.

UO1328.jpg

Now I'll proceed to plant some trees, because we have pretty much none of them, and I'm sure having more of them is a good idea.

UO1329.jpg

Hmmmm, it's winter already? I honestly didn't notice.

UO1330.jpg

UO1331.jpg

ACHTUNG! SHAMAN IN THE VILLAGE!

UO1332.jpg

UO1333.jpg

Did I mention the boots make you run into enemies frequently? Well, I'm saying that again.

UO1334.jpg

Dammit, he beamed out into our cowpen! Good thing I left that entryway.

UO1335.jpg

Stop running, coward!

UO1336.jpg

Now, which red dot would the shaman be...?

UO1337.jpg

Not the upper one, alright.

UO1338.jpg

Ah, there you are! Way to miss a fireball, shithead.

UO1339.jpg

Shaman dropped dead. Now for the rest of the hordling crew.

UO1340.jpg

non-burrowers first

UO1341.jpg

UO1342.jpg

This looked pretty ridiculous. The jumper got stuck and kept jumping in and out of the water into the wall all the time.

UO1343.jpg

I put him out of his misery

UO1344.jpg

Now for some chase scenes.

UO1346.jpg

UO1349.jpg

UO1350.jpg

UO1360.jpg

UO1361.jpg

No cows lost. Fine work, lads.

UO1362.jpg

UO1363.jpg

I love how nefarious the chancellor is.

Anyway, I think I'll skip the morningstar again, I don't think I'll be needing it too much now that I have the moat and cow pen. Gonna buy it if things get ubertough later.

Next year I'll try to reach the cow limit and make some knight posts like I did in the swamp. Also gonna plant helluva more trees.

Until we meet again!

You know haven't seen those hordlings attack from the east. You should expand there and place some more cows and let Murphy's law do the rest !

And that's exactly what I'm gonna do now. Actually, I decided that maybe I should do a risky manuever and screw the knights all together, but nevertheless, I'll expand the southern cow pen in the place with the double line of water in SE, since it's pretty much always completely safe and place all remaining cows there, and I'm gonna plant helluva trees everywhere.

The Kar-Nyar desert hath been invaded by vile Hordlings.

Art thou a valiant enough servant of the kingdom to reclaim the desert?

YEAR 4

UO1364.jpg

Let's get to work on these knight posts. Gonna hire knights after all, since they do make the job done a lot faster.

UO1365.jpg

And they still cost 50% more gold... :x

UO1366.jpg

Yup, should do. Cows at limit, jolly good. Now all that needs to be done is sit tight and hoard jewish gold.

UO1367.jpg

and plant helluva trees.

UO1368.jpg

UO1369.jpg

UO1370.jpg

Seems that they come from the west this time.

UO1371.jpg

Or not. Security got breached the moment I left to fend off the western wave. They must have a master tactician somewhere there

UO1372.jpg

God, the retards can't even guard cows properly. But that's mostly because of their MAGNIFICENT turning speed, so it takes years for them to do a 180 degrees turn.

UO1373.jpg

UO1374.jpg

not bad.

UO1375.jpg

more trees.

UO1376.jpg

more horde.

UO1377.jpg

UO1378.jpg

Again. I just went south, and they sent in a spec-ops squad in the north to assassinate villagers and demolish houses :x

UO1379.jpg

FUCK. I was a 0.1 sec late to save the villager.

UO1380.jpg

Now for the rest.

UO1381.jpg

UO1382.jpg

It turns out not all remaining hordlings are burrowers.

UO1383.jpg

UO1384.jpg

UO1385.jpg

UO1386.jpg

UO1387.jpg

UO1388.jpg

UO1389.jpg

At least now that we are back at the cow limit we get helluva money again. We'll be needing a lot of it in the next area...

UO1390.jpg

UO1391.jpg

UO1392.jpg

UO1393.jpg

UO1394.jpg

UO1395.jpg

So we'll probably be facing less hordlings in the coming seasons. Neat

UO1396.jpg

Right, since most of the regular hordlings come from the north and are a general nuisance to peasants stationed there, let's make their lives a bit more miserable.

UO1397.jpg

UO1398.jpg

Hurrrrrr. This broad moat should teach ANY incoming regular hordlings that swimming lessons are an important thing to take.

UO1399.jpg

While planting trees, I come upon this.

UO1400.jpg

What the hell? Well, we'll keep this and see if it becomes handy.

UO1401.jpg

But first, there's a job that needs to be done.

UO1402.jpg

UO1403.jpg

Oh lawd, you can't burrow through water, aye, punks? I feel for you.

UO1404.jpg

UO1405.jpg

epic battle ensues.

At this point I also heard the rather distinctive roars of tanks.

UO1406.jpg

Let's check the map for any latecomers... Yup, apparently three tanks incoming.

UO1407.jpg

Activate ze turboengines Herman. Full speed ahead on ze battleships.

Jawohl, Herr Oberleutnant!

UO1408.jpg

Prepare ze wunderwaffe.

UO1409.jpg

FEEL ZE WRATH OF ZE KRIEGSMARINE, RED SCHWEINHUND.

UO1410.jpg

One down. Take us to ze second target Herman.

UO1411.jpg

Zhey are trying to get away, but zhey will sleep with ze fishies today.

UO1412.jpg

Sieg.

Locate und approach ze third target.

UO1413.jpg

TAKE AIM...

UO1414.jpg

FEUER!!!!!!!

UO1415.jpg

Haha! Ze Vaterland ist victorious once again!

UO1416.jpg

Now ze smaller vessels.

UO1417.jpg

UO1418.jpg

UO1420.jpg

UO1421.jpg

UO1422.jpg

UO1423.jpg

Juden gold.

UO1424.jpg

Und juden gems.

UO1426.jpg

UO1427.jpg

That's the last of 'em.

UO1428.jpg

The moat seriously made things a lot easier...

UO1430.jpg

While scouting the desert for more strange things, I found this. Its purpose is probably similar to the green meat found before, why is it here still eludes me.

Also found some strange, small cactus in the desert that I couldn't remove with the shovel. Maybe something will happen if I drive water to it (taking screenshots of said cactus has been forgotten)

UO1431.jpg

Moar!

UO1432.jpg

Shaman beams into the village.

UO1433.jpg

UO1434.jpg

Chauncey gets dazed while trying to kill it. But fortunately, just after that he was shot with a fireball that snapped him out of it.

UO1435.jpg

Go away shaman, nobody likes you.

UO1436.jpg

Now to kill some random hordlings throughout the village.

UO1437.jpg

UO1438.jpg

And lastly, the useless burrowers.

UO1439.jpg

Splat.

UO1440.jpg

Thwack.

UO1441.jpg

Slash.

UO1442.jpg

Stab (jewish gold).

UO1443.jpg

UO1444.jpg

UO1445.jpg

Aaaaaand this concludes year 4. There are two more years to face in the desert, thanks to the general uselessness of the burrowers, I don't foresee too many problems (unless we get attacked by 20 tanks).

Also, important notice: I'm sad to announce that this LP is currently on hold 'till the start of July, since tomorrow I'm leaving for well-deserved (hurrr) 20 days of vacation.

Chauncey and Co. will see you back in a month then!
