I watched some LPs on YT and my interest dwindled. Seriously, why don't any of the M&B modders at least recolor some scenery textures, or get rid of "kill the bandit who's the only armed man in the entire village" quests. A warhammer mod without any sort of even barebones aesthetics or design rehash? Meh.

Do you really think I'll put a focus on those lame quests? Actually, I'll probably skip them altogether, win a tournament for some starting cash and go straight for siding with a kingdom at war. And this mod is unfinished. It's quite obvious from the massive stretch of land to the northwest presumably reserved for the Dark Elves and from everything else. Probably the author considered changing textures to become more fitting to Warhammer and redesigning the cities so that the Lizardmen towns would look like Aztec cities, for example, less of a priority than adding all the Warhammer units as those changed gameplay while aesthetics and redesigns wouldn't. But it's probably on the to-do list, for an eventual Thursday.

"base game, but with Warhammer critters!"

And cool guns, plus a quantity of new weapons, clothing and armors, of which many were added purely for aesthetic reasons/fluff. It's already a start.

1866 (wild western/civil war mod).

How did they "rework" the basic feudalism gameplay mechanics? Because in that setting, it would make no sense.

*Edit:

The same Russians who did that Warhammer mod for Medieval 2: Total War are developing a far more ambitious mod that will definitively go further than this one, but it still is very far even getting its first released download:

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,133702.0.html

*Edit 2: Now that I checked its thread in Talewords, looks like Warsword: Conquest indeed won't get any further because the authors decided to throw the towel because they got no modders who really know how to script in their team(the reason they didn't change the towns designs as well). What a shame.

Now hopefully Warhammer: Grim Age will, like Call of Warhammer: Total War, get done.

You got my hopes up, when I first saw this pic I thought they were undead bear cavalry.

bear cavalry

That is an exclusivity of Kislev(which essentially is all Potato Eastern Europe mashed together in the Warhammer World and ruled by Stereotypical Villain an Ice Queen), unfortunately not available in this mod for obvious reasons. And not mere bear cavalry. Winged Hussar Bear Cavalry, plus regular winged hussars as well.

I'm not sure if there is actually a mod readily available for download featuring Bear Cavalry for M&B right now.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,133702.msg3322541.html#msg3322541

But hopefully that will change, eventually. (found that one while searching for the pics)

Well, with the Conquestsword Mod you can ride all kinds of stuff - skeletal horses, wolves, dinosaurs, lizards... even necroserpents. Unfortunately, all of them gallop like horses, sound like them and die like them. What's important however, is that technically bears are possible aswell.

Voting Goblins, even though you can't recruit orcs the normal way. Which is kinda sad, since they exist as mercenaries and even have their own upgrade tree. Go capture some and recruit them from your prisoners, they're pretty amazing in combat.

I applove of rhis rets ray. Continue.

Looks like my "Summon Stereotypical Villain" spell worked perfectly.

Results are quite clear. I guess I might summon Phelot as well considering them.

From humble beginnings under a skeleton budget

jpXCc.jpg

Yes, Skeleton is a gender, just like tranny, male and female. This is the history of the one who outlasted GD and Grimoire's release date, of a force too strong to accept death, and too proud to accept an unlife of inanity as another into a crowd of completely undistinguishable skeletons.

MvA37.jpg

This is how the beginning of the ascension of Phelot and of the House Street Lethal happened, according to the Phelot itself.

zRvzh.jpg

Behold the Original Skeleton! Maybe not that impressive for an Undying Emprah of the New World, but that will eventually change.

ScAfj.jpg

Opportunities for people of the kind Phelot is weren't very inviting in the Old World. Fighting for the Vampire Counts just isn't rewarding at all and they aren't particularly generous employers, and in most places there would be the ever-prevalent *BLAM* because skeletons are rarely welcome outside their own kin. Thus Phelot took a journey to the Southlands, in the land of the Tomb Kings, an once fertile land plagued by the attempt of the infamous Nagash of enslaving entire nations with Necromancy, now only populated by others of his kind.

apirt.jpg

80 denars...

now that is really

a Skeleton budget.

:yeah:

And a book Phelot lacks enough Intelligence to read.

:kfc:

:M

B91s9.jpg

He started looking for the Guild Master of the city, in the hopes he could find something that would give him more denars, as his current budget was very poor. Along the way he met others but they weren't much talkative. It didn't take long for Phelot to realize he was the one of the few skeletons there that had a will of their own.

aAYje.jpg

Why isn't the guild master a bit more thin, as in skeletal thin? In any case, considering he didn't have any better opportunity, he accepted, but first he had to recruit eight homies, which would empty his pockets(where?), literally.

xQLHW.jpg

The villages weren't very far.

CBv2Q.jpg

And finally a skeleton crew was assembled to escort that caravan, at the price of every single penny Phelot had. Hopefully this will not go badly, because if it does, Phelot will have no choice but to become a beggar, not that he isn't one already. And now, with the homies recruited, everything was set:

7w5s2.jpg

The payment was high, and the fact the guildmaster didn't mention where Kyominato was would soon be explained.

qjsCb.jpg

Because this would be a very long trip, crossing through many foreign lands, facing untold dangers on the road until finally reaching:

:desu:

eYTmq.jpg

It doesn't take much time for the first trouble to come for Phelot. Thus it would happen the first battle in the history of the great OS Phelot Street Lethal, with nothing but a handful of skeleton mooks to his side, although the desert bandits weren't well equipped either, so it was more or less an even fight.

Jv6hF.jpg

Confident in his victory, and hoping to get lots of good loot from it, the Original Skeleton demanded for the thugs to surrender, and naturally, they laughed at its skull and prepared to attack.

iKBRP.jpg

The thugs had horses, but they were so poorly equipped that Phelot was certain that a disciplined formation of risen ones would break them apart, which is why it ordered the homies to hold their position and make their stand. Thus the first battle in its history began.

G7rKt.jpg

The cavalry attacked in a disorganized and poorly thought way, and was eventually disposed of. It was here, in the burning sands of the desert, that Phelot's first blood happened, as it took down one of the thugs with his spear. With the horsemen wiped out, the remaining thugs were taking potshots at the skeletal gang, and thus this great leader of bones ordered for them to charge at the archers and bravely advanced together with its bruthas.

MEiFV.jpg

First Victory! It was the beginning of a still long road towards glory and renown ahead for Phelot and its warband known as Street Lethal.

vtcOC.jpg

It was costly, with many of the skeletons ending with their bones crushed beyond repair, but the rewards would more than make up for the final deaths of a few.

JtYVa.jpg

Because it was thanks to this victory that Phelot finally got its first horse, not a particularly impressive horse, but it will do for now. He named the horse Andyman Messiah. And the rest of the loot was already worth more than anything Phelot got its hand into in both life and unlife before.

7q7Ju.jpg

Then, as expected, soon there was more trouble along the road to Kyominato, and this time it was too much, ten elite skeletal masters of arms would crush the poorly equipped Phelot and his tiny gang. Thus they did what was wise and ran.

AOlmt.jpg

Phelot journeyed to Mijayet so he could recruit more skeletons to Street Lethal. The survivors of the first battle in the meantime became better, and now were skeletal spermen and had shields.

t3uve.jpg

And those damn deserters insisted, but they weren't faster than Street Lethal. Eventually they will give up.

Ingl3.jpg

The capital of the fancied Pirate Kingdom was right on the middle of the path. Thus it was decided to make a stop there to sell the loot from the desert bandits and buy some food, as somehow, all the Skeletons Phelot recruited were very quirky: they like to LARP they are still alive and their morale will go down the drain if they don't have any food to "eat". Phelot also took the opportunity to visit a tavern.

8RAtV.jpg

And he found, to its surprise, a Ninja in the middle of the Pirates. Naturally he recruited swabbies too because surely Street Lethal will be much more AWESOME with pirates, and AWESOME² with both PIRATES AND NINJAS, therefore it was a no-brainer.

Dq0LH.jpg

7fAra.jpg

No potato.

:(

And thus the journey continued, while along the road a handful of militias from the Empire Colonies also joined Street Lethal because some of those imperial uniforms are seriously packing in the blingz.

riLDf.jpg

When it was about to reach an end, Street Lethal witnessed an ongoing battle. The Nippon and the Empire Colonies were at war, and in this case, it seemed that the Empire was gaining the upper hand, with Blackadder and Distel being too much for the Tokugawa to fight. Irrelevant for Phelot, because its heart lied among his brothers in bones in the Southlands, and not in the wars of Lustria.

f4Ft8.jpg

And at last, Street Lethal got some real moneyz, and Phelot gained much experience from the trip, which would naturally make him better.

j9CY5.jpg

And above all smarter. Its greater skills at training and surgery would both reduce permanent casualties and make Street Lethal more Lethal. The gang now became something greater than the humble start with a handful of a skeleton crew, something capable of putting up a fight, if still minor compared to the massive armies of the lords and kings fighting in battles that sometimes number in thousands.

hESnj.jpg

Street Lethal are becoming true Warriors of Diversity. Skeletons, Pirates, and eventually, Inner Circle Knights and Ninjas, fighting together for blingz.

There were many choices and opportunities, of which the most relevant was the possibility that, right now, Phelot, having enough money to recruit a gang of over fifty strong, could if it wanted seek employment as a mercenary, and then rob some villages to get some real blingz rollin', as in tens of thousands of denars rather than the "pitiful" rewards escorting caravans gives. And that was exactly what it intended to do. What he wasn't sure about was who to work for: back in the lands of the dead, as their war with the Southland dwarves was still at large, or right here, for Nippon or the Empire.

Neither of the possibilities were devoid of merit, or risks. Here, at the crossroads at Kyominato, their real glory was about to begin.

Great job so far. I'd say go and fight for the Empire or Nippon, since both pirates and lizardmen are easy to solokill early on, whereas dwarves got towershields pretty early which makes them really hard to fight without the proper infantry.

I guess I needed a strong spell.

Right, I summon thee to comment on this homage to ~Street Lethal~ , Phelot

===================

skeleton-army.jpg

Hard times and heroism

PPDEn.jpg

With the small amount of denars Phelot gained, it found in Kyominato a valuable weapon, a poor quality lance. However, it is much better than the spear due to its longer reach and most importantly, it can be used for couched lance attacks, where the spear can't. That already drained more than 60% of the pitiful reward he got for that escort job. It was a start, however.

LUkXb.jpg

Luckily, there was a Ransom Broker in the Nippon city, and the homies of the Desert Bandits were willing to ransom them back, granting so handy extra money for Street Lethal.

dy2km.jpg

With matters settled, Phelot began to make the way back to the barren lands of the Tomb Kings, with occasional stops at villages to buy food.

U6SCe.jpg

And eventually, it thought on the costs of the trip, and decided to see if the Nippon was looking for mercenaries. Unfortunately not, but this was a decent offer. Time to suck the peasants up to the marrow.

IWUrC.jpg

Not bad. Except that Moniwa was no longer in Kyominato when Phelot returned, and after asking around, this man seemed like a shadow.

Rho6H.jpg

Another lord of Nippon made an offer that was not cool. Phelot is not a race traitor and thus shall never agree with such a scheme. Besides, what is that man thinking? They have no direct border with the Tomb Kings Empire, which is located in another continent, and almost at the opposite corner of this part of the world.

INWb0.jpg

Phelot eventually gave up trying to look for Moniwa. If this lord doesn't care to show up, it is just a sign of streetwise to run away with the entire tax money. It's not like it didn't try to find him first. Time to head back to the land ot the dead, and make good use of the money.

Qi9JL.jpg

In one of the villages Street Lethal stopped to buy some supplies, they realized quickly that Orcz were terrorizing it, and thus, out of kindness, Phelot ordered for them to crush the boyz and help the villagers.

cgCCT.jpg

Not intimidated by the WAAAGH! (at least the skeletons), the soldiers are ordered into a tightly packed formation to hold their ground, while the boss of Street Lethal charges against the Orcs, and rapidly realizes that Andyman Messiah is too slow for it to deliver couched lance charges onto them. Thus he thrusts the lance into the Orcs instead.

mvR8v.jpg

It was a tough one, the Orcz blocking many of Phelot's strikes and with more than one too close moment.

EkOJW.jpg

Yet these Orcz were no boar riders, and thus, it was only a matter of time.

5JcZj.jpg

A Farmer even managed to take one down with a thrown stone while most of them focused on Phelot, apparently too intimidated by the enormous wall of men holding their ground to charge, or too distracted by Phelot.

5JDY8.jpg

In time they charged, despite their odds, like Orcz, and Phelot took one down while they perished under the ordered formation.

vGlh6.jpg

Thanks to the skills of the boss, Street Lethal crushed such a weak WAAAGH! with almost no casualties.

ZsbRn.jpg

And from the battle, some of the homies became even better. Just a few more battles to survive and soon Skeleton horsemen shall become a reality. After the struggle with the Orcz, they continued along the way.

2RFI9.jpg

And then, considering how it was almost along the path, they decided to take a look at New Altdorf, the capital of the Empire Colonies. And maybe see if anyone there was looking for mercenaries for hire.

CPKsp.jpg

Being smarter, Phelot began to read that book on engineering. Not really a PhD, and not exactly useful for someone as lowly currently as the skeleton, but eventually such knowledge will be very, very useful.

Y9zPq.jpg

The Orcz surely know how to fight, and thus Phelot didn't think twice about hiring some who were chilling in the New Altdorf tavern. Strange... considering that the Empire would probably *BLAM* Orcz on sight, but again, considering what Phelot is... probably things are different in the New World.

ssN85.jpg

And there is a tournament... Phelot got monies to bet on himself and knows how to fight, so why not?

Z6Rvh.jpg

It doesn't matter how good at fighting one is when all he got as a weapon is a shitty quarterstaff that, because of the shield that is more of a hindrance combined with polearms when not fighting on a horse, for having the shield limits all strikes to thrusts only, which more often than not will be harmless for anyone that isn't a master at the power strike skill, allowing the enemy to counter attack efficiently, where swinging the staff would be more useful. And then, Add the fact all his team members were downed, and Phelot fought bravely as the last man skeleton standing in its tournament's team, but ultimately, being no legendary fighter and outnumbered, its odds were small.

qRXTG.jpg

Its shield broke, and they were striking so hard it didn't have time to counter-attack, only to block every strike, which eventually became impossible as they surrounded Phelot from all sides, and he was struck down by a cowardly backstab. It would've wept if it still could, as those were 100 denars lost.

But a lesson was learned. Tournaments are risky and very frustrating because they aren't 1 vs 1 duels. Easier to make money killing others for real... and looting and pillaging too.

RVbVj.jpg

Nevertheless, Phelot decided to buy a real horse in New Altdorf, one fast enough for the lance to be used as intended. Andyman Messiah thus left the saga before he could be of any relevance. Unfortunately there was no noble in the city willing to hire mercenaries either, time to move on.

Considering it is on the way and that Pirates are COOL, revisiting Wolfshore was a no-brainer.

dcklJ.jpg

There Phelot found a farmer asking for help because his village was taken by Gorols, which are some kind of apemen. And equally, Phelot found someone else of great interest:

U1Jvb.jpg

Bastich "Crispy", a retired pirate who was getting on the short list of the tavernkeeper for his growing tab, and interested in reliving his glory days. He didn't look particularly impressive, but that could change, and besides, paying his tab was no big deal, it being only 100 denars. As long as he got some rum or booze, he'll be from now on the first mate of Phelot and of Street Lethal, and as soon as affordable, he'll be packing some really pimped guns.

With Crispy hired, it was time to clean Faycrest.

F4cRB.jpg

Shouldn't be hard, but Phelot will use tactics nevertheless to minimize casualties.

ug8VG.jpg

The infantry is positioned near the top of a hill, and in a tight formation, with the archers and pirates with guns slightly above and behind them to fire on the gorols, while once again, the great leader charges into the thugs, only this time it can cause much more harm than before.

khPKB.jpg

The apemen charge mindlessly, seemingly oblivious to how they are about to get trounced.

zomZ8.jpg

This is like putting kebab on a stick. No more hitting the foes only to have to hit them again and again, for with couched lance strikes and the immense speed of a Courser, most hits will be instantly deadly. Just like a precise hit from one of the bigger firearms, if only they were as accurate as a longbow in the hands of a master.

58zbD.jpg

Nobody died, other than the gorols, of course. Another good day for Street Lethal, who again, seeing how pitiful the "reward" was, said to the peasants to keep it because they needed it more, and this made Phelot's honor stronger, and no, I'm not referring to the other honor.

EIPU2.jpg

In April 6th, they finally reached one of the large towns of the Tomb Kings Empire. Now, hopefully one of the Tomb Lords would be willing to hire Street Lethal for the war against the Southern Dwarves... hopefully.

iBNIx.jpg

Mummy lady skeleton with tits... looks like something sgc_meltdown would give a link to, without the wrappings. And yes, it's possible later for Phelot to romance a single tomb lady and find out what is behind those wraps... which most likely would be the kind of thing that causes the following reaction:

:what:

In any case, disregarding the popularity of stories of romances among undead in hack literature for the unwashed burgher masses*, Phelot didn't look at them, but at Tomb Lord Hamezan, in the hopes we was willing to hire him.

*It is said that in the realms of the Vampire Counts in the Old World, anyone caught reading the infamous Twilight that involves romances with vampires of questionable virility and honor, is immediately impaled and kept under such a miserable and painful conditions for years through vile necromantic spells. Fortunately no example of such hack writing exists involving Tomb Kings and their denizens... yet (In before /tg/ link)

Hm300.jpg

Unfortunately Hamezan had no interest in hiring mercenaries, but in something else. Hopefully this one won't end like looking for a needle in a haystack... or maybe that is exactly how searching for this bandit lair will feel like. Fortunately there are 60 days to find it so it shouldn't be impossible, except there are better and more rewardings things to do for 60 days than to find a desert bandit lair in the middle of the vast desert.

GPa4B.jpg

On the way, Phelot found the tomb lords marching towards the Dwarven territory. Hopeful, it introduced itself to every of them to ask if they were looking for hired blades. To his disappointment, he was mostly met derisively and with scorn, and nobody offered any worthwhile quest to it, even though Phelot accepted to undertake some of them. Thus, in his disappointment, he finally headed to the Dwarven lands, where, again, after asking several dorf lords, nothing, except for a lucrative offer that this time wasn't objectionable.

uZYFE.jpg

While the living kill each other in pointless wars, the dead grow stronger. Besides, it's an excellent pretext to attack a caravan and take all its most likely immense wealth for Street Lethal, except the the Nippon probably use the sea more oftenly than the land for trading, and right now buying a ship is out of question.

fOAs7.jpg

Because, along all this travelling without finding anybody willing to hire Street Lethal, the budget shrinked to almost as badly as it was during the beginning of Phelot's saga.

t9nYy.jpg

Had they hired Street Lethal, this war wouldn't have ended with no real gains for either side. Now the only war still going on was the war of the Empire Colonies with Nippon, and it was there, in the hopes this time they would find nobles willing to hire them, that Street Lethal travelled towards.

KM2LL.jpg

On the shallow waters connecting continents, they found a potential source of loot. Dark Eld... Elves whose ship got stuck in a reef. They didn't waste any time to crush them all.

uhMS8.jpg

Phelot again proved himself while the others held their ground and took potshots at them. This was no joke however, even if here victory was certain. Losing to the Dark Elves was bad, very bad. The tales of what happens to their prisoners are enough to make one almost faint from merely hearing of their limitless cruelty and sadism. They are so wicked they'd probably manage to inflict excruciating pain even on something whose nerves have long rotten away and got nothing but bones left.

PKQRQ.jpg

Of course, this time the only ones who suffered were the Dark Elves, mostly slaughtering by the charges of the boss.

CnpuF.jpg

Further on the shallow waters, Phelot decided to risk facing a much larger force of Dark Elves, confident that through superior tactics and his boldness they would win. But it didn't happen that way. Phelot was struck down by a bolt during the middle of the battle, and to prevent the ranged soldiers from being slaughtered by the advancing foes, his last order before going down was for the infantry, positioned behind the hill the archers and shooters stood on the top of, to charge.

dG0tP.jpg

It was a slaughter, and many good soldiers died.

O4SH6.jpg

Nevertheless, it was another great victory for Street Lethal.

9FrIw.jpg

And some valuable loot was gained from it. One of those decent armors was given to Crispy, who managed to make it fit in after some adjustments, while the other would be wore by Phelot, if only he got stronger, because right now he was becoming more agile instead, so that eventually he could ride warhorses.

Then, just as he was about to look for the lords of the Empire...

wnnWj.jpg

Never before one person

had with such similarity

a luck as thin as himself.

:yeah:

o90j9.jpg

Then, from another disappointment rose an opportunity. When the war was declared, Street Lethal already walked on imperial ground, and now they would not miss it!

dl2IH.jpg

FINALLY!!!!

Of course, with its budget almost depleted, Phelot didn't hesitate to make an oath of temporary allegiance to the Emprah for one month. Now it was time to pillage the golds from the Pirates, who were in a really bad situation, because before this, they were already at war with the Lizardmen and recently lost one of their castles to the Reptilians. In the end, being and looking cool does not make up for not having cavalry... or an army whose footsoldiers have tower shields and wear real armor.

Wp2It.jpg

It doesn't take long for them to meet the first of the pirates. And the results were quite predictable as the imperial forces were just behind them.

SCjnf.jpg

One of the skeleton cavalry was wounded, but nobody in Street Lethal died in this battle. With the way clear, the gang advanced as quickly as possible to the looting season, towards one of the villages that wasn't already being pillaged by imperial forces.

4Wahf.jpg

To pillage was not a moral dilemma, it was a matter of survival. Otherwise Street Lethal would go bankrupt.

lrje9.jpg

Skeletons, Pirates fighting for the other side and Squad Broken Orcz brought untold devastation to the small village of Siren, taking everything of value from it without mercy. Street Lethal was about to bask in glory and wealth, for this was a stepping stone from the hard times and financial hardships of the previous months.

WnPx4.jpg

:keepmyjewgold:

EXQUISITE VELVET! NOW WE ARE RIDING IN PILLAGE AND GOLD! STREET LETHAL, COURTESANS!

However, as important as it is to make lots of money from what many consider the most despicable part of warfare, it equally is to invest this money wisely, and preferably in permanent business to keep the gold coming. And the pirates may be losing, but the final outcome of the war is of no relevance to Street Lethal and Phelot. What is relevant is to make as much profit from the war as possible, and to perhaps finish that job a dorf gave them to start a war between Nippon and the Dorfs for no absolutely rational reason considering the distances between both. But it will probably pay a lot of money too, almost as good as pillaging, so why not?

Thus, now we fight for de Emprah, if we die we die an heroes deffs, but noh! It's teh enemy who shall die todeh. STEEL REHN!

Good stuff, man.

Haha, that M&B AI. Nothing like riding among a group of guys distracting them while your guys take potshots at em.

And yeah, those "find hideout" missions kinda suck. There is some method to em, as in, you're just looking for a spawnpoint so look for where they're most common, but mostly it sucks.
