Let's Play Rule The Waves: Dayyalu is a Lazy Fuck Edition
Ok. We are at war with Germany, our ships have terrible crews, and every month we lose 2 millions Tsar bucks. I order 20k tons of ships to move from the Pacific Fleet to the Northern European area to try to balance this mess. Hnnngh, I should have started to Mobilize far sooner, all our older Bs have shit crew quality.
And you can bet the Germans did not skip on training.
Our sub fleet is the pride of the nation. A German Destroyer is sunk at the first chance. Gotta love subs.
We are incredibly lucky or unlucky, and we immediately get in contact with the enemy fleet as we begin a Fleet Battle. Ouch.
Our scouting force engages the unknown ships immediately. The Boyarin starts torpedoing and firing on the "German" ships. I nonetheless order them to disengage, can't risk our scout forces.
Nonetheless, the battle is starting well. Our scout force starts laying smoke and executing evasive maneuvers. Gotta pin 'em down until our BBs and Bs can reach them. Luckily, most of the Scout Fleet is of the Mercury class: fast ships, new engines, good guns.
The Germans try to save their Light Cruisers by sending their BC to hunt our own. The fucker is faster than the
Boyarin and it's a BC. Gotta run.
Steady...steady....
And the German BC follows, thanks to poor visibility, our Boyarin
right in the middle of our main battleline. It does not matter that the crews are crap, the amount of fire we can dish out is astounding. Can we sink it?
The BC manages to escape, and I end up in the middle of the German battleline thanks to the poor visibility. Whooops. FIGHT ON SONS OF RUSSIA
The entire thing degenerates in a crazy melee with ships firing everywhere. Darkness at last falls and we retreat. We lost one or two destroyers, but the situation was a bit....
tense.
I have no idea of what's happening. I started retreating, but the German Fleet pursued right into a field of our screening Destroyers. Our Admiral ship and the CA Madagaskar got a ton of heavy hits, but enemy BBs are getting shredded by torpedoes in the night. I can't follow what's happening anymore.
In the unholy mess, the Bayan is hit by a torpedo and sinks. This battle is a mess!
I JUST WANT TO RETREAT DAMMIT
We lose also the
Madagaskar, as the dumbfuck AI started going full speed the instant we get out of flagship range, flooding it intensely and sinking. Dammit dammit dammit. Our flagship is hit by
SIX dud torpedoes in the night. Two torpedoes manage to explode though, crippling hits.
Endlösung , you sank as you lived, shooting in the darkness and screaming in German to a bunch of illiterate russians. I think the survivors of the Madagaskar were picked up the the German BC, so at least now you get a cozy job in helping them hunting Russian cruisers.
This battle is a mess, a complete and utter mess. Time to escape.
I JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF THERE
AT LAST
Excellent. We lost two antediluvian CA, four Destroyers, and ANOTHER BB AND ANOTHER OF OUR FLAGSHIPS TO BOOT. At least we "won": we sank a German BB, a German B and enough tonnage to make them bleed. Plus an insane amount of damage.
At least the German losses are adequate, at least. Their BB was a Pommern, their last and best class. While the sinking of the Nikolai I ends the Nikolai class. Both it andthe Reviztan sank by torpedoes, the
true masters of the seas. With our subs, of course. This means we should plan for the next class of BB, we can't afford
not to replace the bastards that got sank.
Did I tell you that we are Blockaded and that the Germans have the upper hand in tonnage now? Well, to be completely precise we will blockade the Germans for a month or two until they repair their ships.
If I have to make a point on RTW, is that ship repairs are too fast. A gutted BB repaired in four months?
We get BB parity again, luckily.
And we damage some of their BBs, thanks to our subs. Good.
A temporary blockade causes disruptions in Germany.
And they are back again for a Fleet Battle. Both of our new BBs are here. THIS time, we will triumph. No doubt. It's 9:00 in the morning, the weather is good, and our crew almost well trained now. We order our BBs to steam ahead at full speed.
Their screen is lacking. And we can now see that they have merely a single BB and a line of old Bs, as the sub damaged their other Dreadnought. It's a chance for some kills. We
must not waste it.
The german line, after a short exchange, decides to flee. We follow in pursuit. One of our Dreadnoughts manages to get a rudder hit and starts circling, and the Dreaad manages to catch a torpedo from a suicide run of a damaged German Destroyer.
Dreaad , we both know you are an Enemy of the People, but try NOT TO SINK YOUR SHIP.
Two enemy Bs are too slow, and are quickly caught and surrounded.
"Young Nubile Germans surrounded and pounded by Russian Sailors": soon in your local video renting place. Are video rental shops still a thing? I remember seeing one or two while driving around.
Those two blue circles are the German ships, everything else is Cyrillic. The Dreaad manages to get the flooding under control. IT SEEMS AT LEAST.
The enemy BC (the Von Der Tann) tries to check the two enemy Bs, but it's too late. The German fleet retreats, and we finish the job.
Good result. No losses and two enemy capital ships lost.
Next turn.
I should ditch BBs building programs and start building just subs. They are magnificent. The German blockade is broken by the loss of the two Bs and we can breathe a little. I pray that the enemy BB/BC that are being built are not almost ready. No way of knowing that, though.
Well, two main battles were quite draining and I'll close the update here. With me back at home I should have time to do proper updates.
The loss of our BB was almost a disaster, but what can I say.... the battle was a mess thanks to the weather and the Germans refused to let me go. At least we got the two enemy ships to balance things out.
Our Subs have already sank four German ships, quite a good amount.
