I hope photobucket bandwidth doesn't kick in 'cuz it's been bugging me just now
As you may remember, the last half ended with a crazy 1:1 tie, which almost turned into 2:1 for the halflings.
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
The rats get a perfect defence to further troll the treemen.
No linemen are moved away from the line of scrimmage, however, but more players are set up aggressively on the left.
Meanwhile, the halflings mob up the ball.
And the trees begin a-hittin'. Star player gets trolled by loner lino into a push.
And finally one of the linerats gets KO'd. One more got harmlessly dusted earlier. Armour value 7 is way too strong. But the lino still left coach Ramas a package, by trolling the treeman with both down, causing a turnover
Their fehth is their shield!
Their armour is contempt!
But brother captain, aren't they mutants and xenos?
Fehth is purest when it is unquestioning, bruva.
Rat blitz incoming!
SLAM!
More skaven get into the vicinity as another halfling is taken out on a stretcher, and the turn ends.
The halfling coach calls Zara out from the back to snatch the ball. Surely, a loner ball carrier will work properly this time around!
Loner lino finally meets his end at the treeman's slam.
While the downed treeman decides to take root after standing up
And the turn ends again with a majestic display of doge.
Jaedar begins by knocking out another halfman.
And the air gets hot around Zara the Slayer as more skaven close in on her.
Zara fails a blitz to get out of the stormvermin's grasp.
It would appear the spectators are not very amused by the halfling coach's performance.
And neither is the camera operehtor.
And the halflings suffer yet another turnover, after a failed 1d block on the stormvermin
Meanwhile in ratville.
Zara's about to eat a knuckle sandwich!
And the ball gets scattered south.
Another halfling is swatted like a fly, and the ball is pushed even further down.
vroooooom
A big hand means twice as big middle finger to show your opponents.
Jaedar twirls his moustache wickedly, or at least, he'd do that if he had one (but he doesn't because he's a homo and a swede) and ends the turn.
Incoming halfling bombardment!
Yeah, right
Another stunned lino.
And a generic blitz by Zara that doesn't really accomplish anything.
Because why would you try to stab something dead instead, right.
What will the skaven do?!
How surprising.
The fans start yawning in anticipation as they witness another failed blitz.
The skaven team up in the middle to protect their carrier.
Treeman blitz!
Treeman KO's a rat during a blitz!
Treeman...!
... dodges...?
Zara is wrestled down and dirty by a lino.
And it would appear the halflings are fairly helpless now.
But wait, there's another bomb!
Nope.
Push on a wake-up blitz on a gutter runner.
The turn moves again to the skaven.
Beginning with another SLAM!
All the slammed halflings got only badly hurt, though. Boring.
Halflings again.
Wehke me up when something happens.
Fortunately, the camera is focused on the action anyway, so Commander Boreale can enjoy a nap.
A gutter runner gets stunned.
Same with a lino.
The halflings move 2 players up to try one last desperate action vs Jaedar's gutter runner. A third one also tried to get there, but, well,
Wake up, commander! There's action to be had!
Where?
Northern quadrant, but they are on the move
A failed blitz doesn't accomplish anything, and two skaven players can only try to set up dodge traps around the two halflings!
And a stormvermin fails a dodge to provide more security!
Uh-oh...
STOP BASHING AND GET ON WITH THE ACTION, FOOL
FEWL!
One halfling dodges out, blocking one assist for the runner carrier.
And the second one dodges-blitzes!
And manages all these 5 or something dodges.
Just to see a red skull on the blitz.
And a ko to boot.
At least that was sort of entertaining.
:kwanzania:
The gutter runner moves through the finish line, then runs a full ring around a fellow stormvermin...
And that's a score!
The treemen look at one another in sadness, thinking how could this happen to them. Why did nothing work!
Post-match stat screen.
And Commander Boreale's final thoughts:
The outcome was fairly predictable, the halflings couldn't possibly hope to stop the skaven gutter runners from scoring multiple, simultaneous and devastating defensive touchdowns. However, that doesn't quite explain why coach Ramas would use his inducements to get Zara the Slayer, whose Stab ability is very much made to go in and ravage flimsy av7 gutter runners and linemen. If you can't win, why not at least provide the enemeh with a parting gift and injure gutter runners (who are hard to pin down by regular blocks due to blodge, too) or guard linemen? Trying multiple times to use the loner star player (and, indeed, the only actual player) as a ball carrier was also rather questionable.
But this is not the last we see of the halflings. For the Secret Military Union will be facing them as well during the next match day.
Stay vigilant, bruvas!
