Thank you for affirming what I already suspected Trithne.

SRPG means Squad games with RPG elements. Basically Japanese are able to understand a lot of different stats, thus they are able to play complex games like SRPGs. In addition they are leap and bounds above non japanese games in writting quality and internal consistency.
Imagine a girl in front of coffin with a boy inside. She is saying in desperate voice "Prince wake up, wake up." Then she comes to conclusion... It can't be any worse. She draws a gun says "There is still one thing I can try.", then she aims at prince's head with intention to blow a hole into.
Why was she desperate?
Well Disgaea was grind, but its story and writing was internally consistent and funny.
FE is quite different, as its more story about nobles and theirs internal relationships.
There are three most important goals in FE:
1. Force them to like each other, so they marry each other. ALL OF THEM.
2. Accomplish the mission.
3. Don't let anyone killed, it would be much more difficult later.
Basically it looked like this: "He doesn't look like this, but he is a violent maniac." Girls eyes were wide open,Wow he is not only nicely looking, but he is also violent maniac, he is wonderful. They are crazy maniacs with honor. Some times they also slaughtering others for crimes like not being nobles. Basically if you are into stories about nobles and honor FE is difficult, but wonderful game.
Soul nomad and world eaters.
They forced level 3-5 characters to fight level 1000 opponent in theirs third battle.
... guess what would happen if they would be able to beat it up for example on new game+
It has interesting squad system.
When you look at non japanese games and compare them with the above, you'd see squad tactical games, however not RPGs. What would happen when one of the characters would be shot? In squad games, they hire new character. In SRPGs, it would cause massive problems, or it will be the end.
Can you goof around in squad based games? Not.
Does story in squad based games change only because some of characters were in different mood? People who are playing tactical games would scream loudly.
It might be helpful if you played games like Eternal poison, or Tactic Ogre advance.

Trithne said:I wasn't complaining about your post's coherence and grammar. I am complaining about its semantic qualities, however, in that it has none and what little understandable content it has is along the lines of 'Japanese gaemz are deep and have better plots than western gaemz that have no plot!', which, as an avid gamer of both sides of the coin, I can tell you is fucking false.

Well, really I am just looking for RPGs with party-based (where you control the entire party), turn-based (self-explanatory), grid-based (i.e. where the players can move around and do not just stand still) combat. Also, the characters (or units, whatever) have to be able to improve over time (i.e. level-up). They also have to have been made in the "West" (i.e. the Americas or Europe).

Zeus said:Elzair said:Japanese SRPGs (i.e. Simulation Role-Playing Games)
S....simulation games? You mean like flight sims?
The S stands for strategy, my dear boy. Strategy!
In Japan these games are known as "Simulation RPGs", a designation which might seem peculiar to native English speakers; in Japan, the term TRPG refers exclusively to tabletop role-playing games. This stems from the Japanese usage of "simulation" as a short hand for "strategy simulation game".
