An interesting quote from that TES forum thread:

Oh, and this is more like the Al-Jazeira of RPG sites than the Al-Qaida. It's not like this site actually does anything but report anything in a way they see as the truth - just like said news channel - or say like Fox news...

Bloody hell, I don't even know why I still bother to try over at those other forums. Glutton for stupidity, I guess.

"OMG U DOTN LIEK TEH DARK ELVES!!!! STOP PLAYGNG TEH TES GAMESZ THEN!!!11 DARK EVLES R KOOL11!"

The intelligent posters over there are overshadowed by the drool of the idiotic fanboys. It's sad really.

Edit: Yes, I'm aware that this is a post with the sole purpose of me having a bitch about them. I figured this thread was probably the place for it.

from that thread:

Some people just don't seem to realise that acronyms actually stand for specific words, or at least, they don't bother to find out what they stand for.
So it wasn't a case of the TES poster referring to Fallout - Brotherhood of Steel, which actually is an FPS? My very own brother asked me what was so special about Fallout, because the FPS he had played recently didn't come off as particularly good. No kidding.

God, I hope not. All the A-Jazeira anchors have really bad late '80s/early '90s haircuts. And that just won't do. I'd rather the Codex be the Animal Planet of RPG sites.

Ha, take a hike Mech...there are plenty of threads over at the ESF that you can spam with your messages of love/support for and worship of Bethesda.

Take a look at this:
A Merchantile discussion:

Now if you have high enough merc you can infest into shops to gain a profit later.Thats cool....
ARE YOU MAD???!!!!!!
Mercantile skill was there from Arena (ok, it wasn't a skill, but you still mercantiled) and is an unique feature of TES. It is my favourite skill, and with the perks like investing in the stores it will be much better!
I found it very useful in Morrowind, being able to sell high and buy cheap, tho of course i needed no help with the money, I think it might come in handy in Oblivion. In fact I have it as one of my first characters planned Major Skills.
There is no such thing as a USELESS skill.

And Mercantile isn't pointless, as you can barter for slightly smaller or greater amounts.
do you like getting ripped off? besides, you can now invest in companies so you get money and the merchant has more money to buy more expensive items
Mercantile comes in more handy than most skills. It saves me a ton of money.
think it should stay in for now. But I envision a game without a mercantile skill for your character, but instead one based on yourself, more realistic. I mean what does he REALLY learn when mercantile increases a level?
Mercantile in MW was the reason I made 100,000 gold, but it was boring. Gameplay based on making money should be left to Monopoly, not in my face when I just want to RP.
Never saw so many really stupid people in one place before.

Can't argue with that. Speaking of interesting discussions and people who actually can spell, have you ever visited RPG Codex? Take a look.
Hmm, looks like someone's been recruiting. ;) Link

I don't worship Bethesda, I just hate fuckface retards who can do nothing but spam how their world is ending over a game, AKA you.

Which I've never done. You and your ilk on the other hand confront every criticism of a design decision with "STFU, you're so ungrateful. This was a good idea"...even if that idea involved replacing warhammers with 30 inch long steel dildos.

The one main thing that pisses me off about that kind of people is their inability to accept any change and their inability to accept that the developers are not flawless. It's either "OMG but mercantile was in the previous three games so it MUST be good" or "I think it's awesome there are no spears nor crossbows because it was the DEVELOPER'S decision!" (Whose decision would it be, if not the developers, anyways?).

HAH! Find a single quote of me blindingly supporting the game by telling someone to shut up, when they *weren't* being a dramatic retard in the first place by spamming their view over and over and over and over without anything new to back it up.
Guess what? Won't happen because the only time you will see me post about the game is when someone is being an idiot and deserves to be told to stfu and die.
Oh and make sure to post it in context, cause I really don't feel like putting up with your stupidity here as well.

I could care less if someone criticizes the game once, but if someone goes to effort of posting their dissapointment in multiple threads, MULTIPLE TIMES, for a whole week they are just being dramatic jackasses. There is no need to post how the game is going to be ruined due to some retarded thing like the removal of spears once or twice. Im sure *everybody* on the forums could go on with life without having to see that stupid crap ever again.
You might ask, whats the difference here then? Well each time somebody posts their complaint, they do so by bringing something new to the table, or do it just for the humor value that it's been talked about so much it's almost cliche. Oh, and they don't go on for threads and threads about completly stupid shit, which is always a big plus of course.

EDIT: I'll even make it eaiser for you, I found one quote were I may have been somewhat fanboyish.
The fact that your basing your inconsitant PR off of "off the record" quotes is just ignorant. Seriously, is it so hard just to, I dunno, actually NOT complain about something Bethesda is doing?

So ya, I can see that as somewhat blindingly telling someone to shut up, but honestly, if someone is gonna bitch about the inconistent PR from the PR guy based off him a couple quotes of him talking to the press they seriously must be lacking anything to base it off of. Inconsistant PR is telling your fanbase hundreds of different things, ala Fable, and not delivering.

Oh man.. VD.. You truly suck encouraging the roosters to come here to.. roost.

I read that whole thread, and I laughed quite a bit. I think one of the best things was one of the TES regulars coming out and saying they would never join here. My one thought was, "Oh no! Because we really need more people coming from that forum to this one! We sure don't have enough threads about Oblivion here!"

Personally, I think MSFD should have locked the thread with, "U R ALL FAGZ! LEWL!" and left it at that. What he wrote was nice, and I'm deeply touched and all, but honestly I think the effort is wasted on the majority of the people there.

Anyway, I think this thread belongs in the "RPG Codex Site Feedback" forum more than it belongs in the "General RPG Forum", so I'm moving it.

Brotherhood of Steel was just a shooter, but it wasn't a first person (see what the 'FP' in 'FPS' stands for there? Good.) shooter. So, despite the fact that I had actually forgotten about BoS (and it is eminently forgettable), that person still obviously does not know what the acronym stands for. BoS is not a First-Person Shooter, because it is, in fact, not First-Person.

But it is a shitty game.

It's not that bad. The Codex gets a couple of eqoulent posters, smart enhough to look through aperances. Anybody else wouldn't consider joining. MSFD probebly opened a few eyes aswell.

I'd say that's the pepole who really matter.

The codex is the last bastion of internet democracy; whereas every other fucking forum on the internet is overregulated and ruined with zealous admins, here at the codex ppl can actually speak their mind without being assraped (locking topics, banning etc) by moderators and admins. The consequences of this liberal stance is that here exists high quality discussions, where all sides of an issue can be discussed, not only the political correct ones.

There will also be occasional moronic posters, but instead of moderators intervening with their divine power and locking the thread, the majority of non-moronic codexers will flame the idiot until he cries and never shows his ugly face here again; this in turn evolves the codex ppl and shapes real opinions - the strong arguments survive, whereas the weak ones are brutally mutilated and dumped into retardo land.

The fact that MSFD locks forums on the TES boards because of their moronic content is in fact counter productive - the weak arguments are never met with stronger arguments, and are therefore allowed to fester, and the morons will return eventually.

This why I really like the codex - this might not be heaven - people here can be real assholes . But anyone are allowed to speak their mind, which is obviously the basic foundation for any democratic forum.
