I remember enjoying Child of Light for what it was back when I played it a few years ago. It's very kid-friendly in terms of story, and the game increases in difficulty steadily which should be good for children as well.

Quest for Glory is too much for that age?
It isn't, I know people who got their start on those games at that age back when they were still Hero's Quest.

Don't dumb things down for kids or the kids will just become dumb.
