Well, they certainly were in 2019 when this tread was created.

also: frame generation

There's one born every minute huh

If you can't perceive latency bump then it is essentially free FPS. Imagine dissing free FPS.

What the fuck are you high?

Animation will have a fixed framerate in VGA games. Any other framerate is tied to the monitor refresh rate and certainly can't be increased above that.

Are you stupid ? FG introduces an extrapolated frame between A and B creating subframe that appears to be mix between position of A and B. Which means your animation is also doubled you idiot just like everything else.

This even works on 2D anime if algo is good enough.

Here is something even more shocking. All old cinemas were essentially using FG. Between first and next frame there was black frame inserted which our own brain "filled in" with expectation of what will happen next. This is why all 24fps movies look so choppy even with filmmaker modes on modern screens and the real fluidity of movies in actual cinema was sort of 35ish fps to our brain. Only way to fix them is to use black frame insertion on some tvs (that halves brightness duhhh) but that is still not the same thing because camera BFI operated a bit different.

It is a mystery how morons like you can even wipe their ass without assistance

You can't "double the frames" in Fallout 2 you mongoloid.

you can ? Alas with few fps per animations algo can't work with much.

That looks like uncanny valley nightmare fuel.

Inserting fake interpolated frames is possible, but they're not real. That's the point. It's not real information. It's like fanfiction.

That's why this Akira clip you posted looks bizarre and janky at fake "60fps"

There's all kinds of videos that demonstrate this, e.g. videos of Harryhausen stop motion made into fake "24 fps" or even fake "60 fps" and it is uncanny valley shit.

Dude we were talking about games not animation. I showed you that even with low fps (12fps) animation you can still get smooth animation. Which means you get same thing with 30-60fps animation as well and thus FG works.

Games are animated.

That wasn't smooth. It was disgusting and jerky and didn't match the original animation without the stupid "digital rape" of the hand made animation.

Which means you get same thing with 30-60fps animation as well and thus FG works.
You literally demonstrated that it doesn't work. Thanks I guess

AI from 3 years ago is ancient, and WW1 footage is not exactly high definition:

However, I think you could make 100 fps Fallout 2 in 4k using 2025 AI working on 1998 source material.

Few caveats:
  • showing mouse cursor that would feel natural with such trickery is well beyond meager capabilities of DLSS4 running on 5090,
  • paying programmers to make proper 1000 fps Fallout 2 in 8k and using AI only to roughly recreate original 3D models would be cheaper than paying OpenAI or DeepSeek.

Ah, another one of those "art" purists.
Don't worry, your time will soon come, might be next year, or the year after, but the AI will get you eventually.
