Which is why it's really important to be like him, so let's start by eating this wafer.
And, much more importantly, drinking this wine, which is his blood but not really. Look man, it's free bread and booze.

I've rarely seen the wine distributed in a Catholic mass (last time was at a wedding and only the bride and groom got any of it). Though altar servers usually get to finish any leftover wine in the cruet after the mass.

Huh. I have attended mass at a Catholic church three times in my life, and each time I was given wine for communion. Orthodox churches provide wine during every mass.

If what you say is true, then we must adopt the Eastern Rite for the sake of our drinking skill.
:salute:
Right, because that's the only possible way to roleplay a fanatic

Yawn
no...I'm saying that's how you play a non-fanatic...
Or we could simply be a religious person who honors the tenets of his faith and does his best to deliberately follow its teachings. Our Hunt3r Boi does not lack for courage, and he is a simple and modest man, not tainted by civilized ways. Bogomilism, or joining a religious order out of genuine conviction may be a good fit if we develop him the right way.

I'd guess it depends on where the mass is celebrated, from what I've heard some parts of the rite changes from place to place. I've never been to an Orthodox mass, but from what I heard, it's a more reliable way to get wine, even if the amount isn't big.

Being a fanatic doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to burn heathens at the stake. A fanatic (in the sense a of zealous believer) might also act for the peaceful conversion of pagan/heretics or help the poor or become an hermit or study the scriptures in a monastery.

The most remote town would be Loch-Glasgow, located on the 17th floor

This might be our location given the Scottish flavour of our village.
And the general low tech feel what lets a hunter run about.

Given the vast amount of really remote territory, I'm positive that there are hunter-gatherer tribes somewhere in The Tower that live in conditions even more primitive than the ones that we grew up with:

Eleventh Floor: An icy wasteland spanning the entire floor. Few settlements can be found here.

Twelfth Floor: In sharp contrast to the previous floor, it is a sea of sand, a hot desert. Prospectors have been searching for oil on this floor in recent years.

Tribes like the Inuit have lived in conditions like the 11th Floor for tens of thousands of years. And there are Bedouins that have lived in the Sahara too. So there's definitely something out there.

I'm open to the idea, and I'd go as far as to say that religious aspect to the character seems kinda fitting with the character concept. There's a little bit of Prince Myshkin in this character with how "pure" he is. As a side note, it would be interesting to see how the actual Knightly Orders line up in reality with their respective religious beliefs - if our character is genuine and true in his beliefs, I wouldn't be surprised if the organizations themselves are corrupt, hypocritical or more influenced by nationalism than they are to any genuine religious sentiment.

But if the idea of a "fanatic" character devolves into some Deus Vult jerk-off fest in which we try to realize the noble ambition of retaking Constantinople (and fail miserably in trying, as is tradition), count me out.

I think that would be an interesting story to explore: a man out of his time, at odds with the world. I can imagine us being picked up by a clever and charismatic, but ultimately cynical, mentor under the pretense of joining a community of devoted Christians/Muslims/Aztecas. And then Life will happen.

Actually, given the loss of genuine belief in and the politicization of religious organizations, I think that the only true path for us will be to replace the current (obviously corrupt) Pope and restore the Church's spiritual authority over the world.

With our high constitution and willpower we could play the mystic hermit. I agree this doesn't have to mean a crusader larp (kind of silly in this era too) but a rugged practical man of the faith (think a 16th century Jesuit in the New World or a Wild West frontier clergyman). Even if the Church is flawed or whatever it'd be a fresh angle and make sense if this is the first human being who has ever treated us with dignity and warmth before. Don't know if we've played many true believers before (there was Lordship.. https://rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/birdship-a-suggestion-game.103672/)

That'd be the case only if the Tower had a native population of any sort. Instead, each and every human there is a colonist or descendant of colonists. Too little time has passed from discovery for any population to degenerate that far.
