This collection just showed up in my steam discovery queue. Never ever heard of that. No surprise, my japanese skills start and end with being able to say Ni Hao. But telling by the screenshots, it looks like a game I really would love to play.

Anyone got some infos about these game? I'd like to know, if
-they are any good?
-they are playable with no japanese skills?
-there's a english patch for any of them.

Googling provides no infos, at least no infos I can read.

My understanding is that they're supposed to be completely non-linear, open world RPGs. I think one of them might even have a system where things change over time??? Anyway, there aren't any English translations for them and I doubt you'd be able to get by without any Japanese skills.

Wonderful. This is the exact opposite of what I'd hoped to hear. At least it could have had the decency to be a linear, uninspired POS.

Man, this shit is hilarious! I just started the first game and here's what happened so far.
I rolled a loli with stats that are clearly not intended for combat. Then I was sent to starter town. There I wasted all my money by watching a show where some wizards were doing petty magic in an arena or sth. I was eventually thrown out of town because presumably I refused to accept any of the quests they offered me. Now I had to walk around the overworld aimlessly until nightfall. Some sort of dragon engaged me in some kind of RTwP combat and snacked me away. I wanted to save beforehand but everything I was able to achieve was to turn the music (which is nice) off. But maybe I got it all wrong and just won and got the best ending.

Tell you what: Playing a game in a language you don't know jack about takes the exploring part for the explorefag I am to a whole new level. I think about doing a lets play on this gem. No kidding, if this had been released in some language I spoke back in the days, this could very well have been one of my favourite games. Reminds me a bit of Darklands with less atrocious combat.

In my current playthrough I'm playing a male combatfag which apparently has fear of the dark (Every character needs to have a negative trait). I just entered a dungeon near starter city. Although it could also be the game's wiki, can't tell for certain.
I heard that you can recruit companions. Instead of commanding them directly in fights, you shout instructions to them. I'm already looking forward to shouting "run away!" when I clearly meant "heal me!"

Were you intentionally making a joke here? "Ni hao" is Mandarin Chinese.
