planeswalkers as commanders in brawl were a mistake. Whole h brawl format is turning more and more into board wipe centric, with commanders remaining untouchable this way.

I must say im losing interesting in the game due to that, getting interesting play is turning into chore.

Try cheapening your deck. It'll happen everywhere but getting out of the gud gittin' matchmaking tier may calm it down a smidge. I may be talking out of my ass though since I've barely done brawl since Kamigawa, was doing a bunch of limited and now I've been playing historic just to get my constructed rank up a bit for goodies.

Every once in a while I return to the game and end up leaving again because the issues have only been exacerbated with time.

Modern MTG is still an overdesigned mess, where I can't be bothered to read the wall of rules in each card. And because of it, I can't even be bothered, or have the time, to brew a deck of my own. I just copy something on Goldfish. And the sets feel completely overdesigned for limited. Strixhaven made me leave the game the last time because it was the absolute worse ever, but still I don't see the newer sets being that much better.

And now the new set is about future samurais and cyber ninjas. How stupid.

I wish I could return to the glory days of Mirage cycle or Tempest cycle.

had such a nice start today. got 3 other jankers in a row with equally fat decks as mine. then it all turned to shit with FIVE ajani/lifegain niggers in a row and a rat colony nigger as a chaser.

I hate the matchmaking in this game so much

i dont see celebs being happy about it really? I thought all of them jumped on 'we represent the people' hasbro bashing wagon.
Mythic pacs are interesting concept if next historic sets gets released? Or not really since the more you go in past the weaker cards get...

exactly! Stream is funny, first they announce the package without disclosing package so chat goes crazy positive. THen they drop the pricetag, math is easy so chat goes negative

It fail to make things much better but there is very marginal improvement to the economy

Most of it is for whales.

Tho a paper only format is something imo that represent the only hope for this game future

brawl decks became way more controley

I have a ton of success with tribal bullshit. Vampires, Knights, Dwarves, Elfes, Pirates, Spirits and now I am tinkering with Wizards and Merfolk.
Tribal can go super low usually, and can sometimes kill Nicol Bolas bullshit before it can even do anything. Usually however you get them to 5 health before they start boardwiping.
The neutral tribal support cards like Icon of Ancestries, Herald's Horn and Vanquisher's Banner however allow me to hang long enough in the game to get the final 5 damage in through haste or kill spells.
I have more problems with super fast combo decks, optimised Winota can lock down the game on turn 4, some decks can even get a win on turn 3 if you don't draw your strong interaction (Lightning Bolt, Inquisition of Kozilek, Tale's End, that stuff)

I feel like Angel and Dinosaurs are the weakest/least optimised of these decks yet, while Vampires and Elves are the strongest. Rest is kinda inbetween.

Little skeptical on bringing commander-specific cards to historic brawl, but I guess they might not be that backbreaking since a lot of good commander cards are built for multiplayer and since hbrawl's 1v1 a lot of powerful commander cards are probably shit for it. Also talking out of my ass since I have no clue what's in the Baldur's Gate commander stuff to begin with, I guess it might also be like secret lair codes that just give sleeves in Arena.

I don't give much of a damn about MTG lore but I do prefer non-brand planes. But D&D at least meshes with MTG better than inexplicably cyberpunk Kamigawa even though Kamigawa's a previously existing MTG plane and I even enjoyed this new set, but tone-wise it's less jarring for someone to play Minsc than it is some generic flying mech. God knows what the 20's wizard gangsters will be like in the next set but in theory I'd still feel like D&D gels with MTG easier even if I prefer new planes and just doing whatever the fuck. Still will be happy with more Dominaria and potentially phyrexians (Since they've been showing up) just because I'm not above some old man pandering but I've been having fun with the new shit like strix/kaldheim/eldraine so eh.

Last I knew mount gag over on 4chan's /vg/ was pretty active and arguably better about talking about Magic than /tg/, though I haven't looked at it in ages after getting permabanned. Funny how a ban stopped my actual posting but did nothing to stop my shitposting. Plus since it's a thread about Arena most of the discussion is about Arena formats though nerds would talk about other shit sometimes. Might not be what you want depending on what you're looking for since the temporary nature of 4chan threads means it's a lot of casual conversation and bitching.
