Regarding only half of the players finishing the game, it's not a ME thing only. I remember reading some other data mining like this from some other game(s) and they said it was similar to that.

I think it's fair to say that the majority of gamers do not finish their games. I'd say it's only increased ever since multiplayer struck as hard as it did. i.e. I'd presume a lot of halo players just multiplay it, same for call of duty.

"... Players skipped 15% of conversations in Mass Effect 2 ...

How was this determined if 50% of the players of Mass Effect did NOT finish the game? lol"

You can just standardize by total number of conversations seen like this:

conversations skipped / total conversations played

And there you go, you have a rate that could give you that number. It's not that hard to do and you don't have to go all paranoid about the number.

It's a pretty low number as well, for a TPS (even one with 'rpg elements'). I would have thought the proportion of players that were just skipping through for the combat would have been higher than that.

If it had the capability of skipping combat between cutscenes, they would have a much more useful statistics. Then maybe they could rename themselves as "Bioware Films" and try their luck in the movie industry.

:( I'll have to agree with Cassidy, not one of your better posts.

Also, I suspect ME3 will have Soldier as the default (and only). Along the way, you'll be able to pick one of two biotic and/or tech powers or something like that.

I don't know if someone said this already but for me, what makes me stick to the soldier is the fact that playing another class doesn't affect the way the character looks / behave apart from a few more sparks in combat. If I choose to play a biotic, I want NPC's to refer to me as such and I want to be the best there is, not just an average soldier who happen to know a couple magic tricks. I want the others biotics to be mere prestidigitators begging for a bit of my power, Miranda should shut the fuck up and learn, Jack should grow pigtails in a desperate attempt to gain my interest. They shouldn't be allowed to market ME3 as a RPG if we're not getting at least some quests that are class specific, or a few lines of dialogue to make it worthwhile.

It'd be nice if they'd polled the number of people pissed off by unskippable cutscenes, too. I've played this level three times, Biowhore; I don't want to see the same seven-minute cutscene again.

They do need to make the intro skippable. It was atrociously slow after the first time you played the game.

My impression is that they still are marketing the game as an RPG. Even with the TPS elements taking priority. It'll be interesting to see what are they going to do design-wise with ME3 but also how they are going to market it.

And Bioware Films? Nigga please. They'd need better writers, or else we'd just be getting B or C-grade scifi flicks.

They really need to go outside their comfort zone for once. And stop stretching out the storyline with stuff like the collectors.

"TPS"

Action RPG, mothafucka.

Anyways, 50% compeltion rate is proably par for the course for majority of games.

Anyways, hwo the fuck do people ever complete any game 28 fuckin' times? That's fuckin' the defintion of insanity.

You know, I used to be one of your biggest fans (no homo), but now I just wish you'd drop the charade and just tell us your points in plain English like you used to do before you got butthurt about liking console games.

Tell us your troubles, my friend. Share.

In theory, if you kept a roguelike for years in your HD and really enjoyed its gameplay, it would never fully burn out and sooner or later you would reach that point, although the definition of what is to "complete" a roguelike is more blurred.

But completing totally linear and shallow games multiple times? There is some need of either selective amnesia, severe retardation or severe autism for that. Personally, even Fallout 1 and 2 I'd never manage to play more than 5 times, because every singleplayer game loses a large chunk of its appeal once you've finished for the first time. Less predictable, linear and railroaded ones tend to lose a smaller chunk with each playthrough.

Did I miss a thread where anyone cares about the Orwellian bullshit of a single-player game that has to continually phone home to tell the home office everything you do and totally won't spy on you or use it to sell shit even though that's the complete raison d'etre of entire megacorps these days?

Might as well put a ''Pirate me or don't bother'' sticker on this fucker.

It's not paranoid to think more than five minutes into the future. If consumers accept that playing games means being connected to the pubs/devs at all times, it just stands to reason that in the future they'll try to monetize that.

Just look at how every patch/update/DLC squirts ads for upcoming expansions and whatnot into your game launcher. Why shouldn't they try to sell that space? And if they're going to sell it, they can certainly get a higher price by delivering not just faceless masses, but registered forum users between the ages of 18 and 35 who like black metal and tentacle porn.
